Deadwing Posted February 21, 2018 (edited) Moonblood X (probably not the final title) is an WIP project, with the final goal to create 12 maps (11 normal + 1 bonus) focused on ruins + natural landscapes. There are still some things I don't know where to go, but I believe it is 50% done for now haha. Some guidelines I've got so far: -> Nonlinear levels, but not as much as the original. Hopefully, it is less confusing although the maps are going to be a bit larger. (I expect 15 to 30 min each). -> Moderate or hard (at least for me lol) difficult level. I would rate it 2,4, in a scale where 0 is E1 on ITYTD, 2.5 is Plutonia and 5 is tough slaughter stuff. -> Some small balance changes with DEHACKED, maybe one enemy replacement or two. Anyway, hopefully it won't get too far from still being a Doom experience. -> Some more "expansive" secrets, like optional areas instead of just rooms with bonuses on it. My idea is to have a "finished" version around April, so I could release a closed-test version and then around May release a more refined version for public. Still not sure if this is the right direction, so I created this thread to see what do you guys think. :P Some pics: Song I'm going to use on it (which was used on Super Mayhem 2017 project, afair): Edited May 25, 2018 by Deadwing 41 Quote Share this post Link to post
leodoom85 Posted February 21, 2018 A sequel of Moonblood? I'm on... 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
galileo31dos01 Posted February 22, 2018 Great! Your megawad has been fun so far, I'm definitely looking forward to this. Would you like a custom bar for your mapset? 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
paymentplan Posted February 22, 2018 Those screens look great. I was really impressed with Moonblood. Eager to see your take on non-linearity continue to evolve! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Grain of Salt Posted February 22, 2018 (edited) Could you work more on the gameplay this time Edit: here's a cute picture to balance out the tone of this post. Edited February 22, 2018 by Grain of Salt 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
Deadwing Posted February 22, 2018 (edited) Thanks guys! Gameplay-wise it won't be very different from the original Moonblood :P, aside for some boom tricks, balance changes and higher monster density (mostly due to larger levels, though) 9 hours ago, galileo31dos01 said: Great! As long as it's compatible with prboom -cl 9, sure! :D Edited February 22, 2018 by Deadwing 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Grain of Salt Posted February 22, 2018 I apologise for my previous post. It was early morning and I was grumpy. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Memfis Posted February 22, 2018 I've noticed that posting in the morning is almost never a good idea. Anyway, cool screenshots except for the tiling being too obvious in some parts: This kind of stuff can really break the immersion. I'd recommend choosing textures a little more carefully. You don't want very striking patterns to repeat many times like that. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
DoodGuy Posted February 22, 2018 A sequel? And its jungle themed? Nice! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Count651 Posted February 22, 2018 Awesome, Moonblood was one of the best wads I've played in a while. I'm sure this'll be just as good if not better. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
DeathevokatioN Posted February 22, 2018 Looks great, the wondery like atmosphere the outdoor areas have is pretty neat. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Big Ol Billy Posted February 22, 2018 Cool! I got a little burned out on tech bases in Moonblood, but liked the nonlinear layouts and appreciated the level of craft and polish. Focusing on natural/ruins themes definitely piques my interest. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
NuclearPotato Posted February 23, 2018 Loved the shit out of Moonblood, love the shit out of ruins levels. No way I'm not on board for this one. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
riderr3 Posted February 23, 2018 Keep it up. I like the first Moonblood also. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Deadwing Posted March 15, 2018 (edited) A small update: the project is currently 75% done, with 12 out of 13 levels in a good state. The last half of the month will be focused on testing and refining the wad as a whole (adding decorations, difficult levels, intermission screens, etc), so hopefully in april I'll get a version ready for private testing! About the texturing Memfis mentioned, I though about it and I still don't know how to make it look better while keeping the "same mood". I don't have others similar textures and I have no idea how to edit them to make it look better lol I'll keep things like this for now Edited March 15, 2018 by Deadwing 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Deadwing Posted May 25, 2018 Ok, I finally have a playable version of this! It contains 23 levels (2 with no-gameplay + 2 secrets + 19 standard ones), and my last playtesting session took 9 hours to finish (so I hope people to take 7~15, which is actually longer than the original moonblood). Still, the release is quite unstable, mainly because it was played only by myself. Also, I don't want to repeat the same mistake I did with the original Moonblood, where it got released with some really weird bugs. So, I'd like to ask for help for playtesting this and sending me videos/fda's/feedback. >.< Just PM me and I'll send the link for the wad. TBH, I'm not sure about that lol, but, if possible, I'd like to release a more stable public release with some testing, so everyone doesn't get to play an unpolished version. Also, the unstable beta has only UV implemented, but I'll add lower difficulties. 7 Quote Share this post Link to post

I'd like to play the wad when it's polished, so good luck for the playtesters out there. Maybe I could find even more bugs in the proper release :D 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Deadwing Posted May 26, 2018 Haha yeah, I'll be expecting bugs even when it's released, but hopefully a lot less than moonblood 1.0 >.< 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

GarrettChan Posted May 27, 2018 Arr, I don't know there's a sequel for Moonblood until the thread is bumped. Have to play it in the future. Good luck with everything. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
FrancisT218 Posted May 31, 2018 I'd like to give this a spin at testing if blind run videos are acceptable for feedback (perhaps with brief descriptions, but I'd intend most adjustments if any would be derived by watching the videos & seeing how things go for me relative to whatever your targets are). You can send a message if interested. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
