Title: UnAligned: 21 Days, 27 Maps, Zero Texture Alignment
Filename: levels/doom/megawads/unalign.zip
Size: 595.41 KB
Date: 12/20/16
Author: Ryath/scwiba
Description: Three episodes of classic, vanilla Doom created in exactly 21 days, that attempt to capture some of the essence of 1990s mapping. Bite-sized, unconventional, and intentionally under-detailed.
Credits: id Software CodeImp, SlayeR, exl, and Visual Vincent -- creators of Doom Builder, SLADE, WhackEd 4 and Doom Writer TITLEPIC font, "You Murderer", by Nate Piekos Playtesters: NoisyVelvet rdwpa rodster Albertoni AnonimVio walter confalonieri Voltcom9 Special Thanks to bzzrak for pointing out the bugs that necessitated the 1.1 release
Base: New from scratch
Build time: November 10th through 30th, 2016, with play- testing and polishing for the first half of December
Editor(s) used: Doom Builder 1.68 and 2.1.2.1553, SLADE3, WhackEd 4, Doom Writer, MSPaint
Bugs: 1) E2M8 relies on infinitely tall barrels as a barrier. Any ports that allow walking over other actors will make the "exit" accessible before intended. 2) Some enemies flicker in and out in ports that cap the number of sprites onscreen at once. Most obvious in E3M6.

Pretty good wad except for e1m8, that seemed impossible to me and I consider myself pretty good at dodging and shooting.x

Not the best megaWAD out there, but it has a soul. Ain't that just wonderful? (minus 1 star for E1M8, that was horrible.)x
felgro
One of those WADs whose levels are just short enough to play through in the hope that next level might be good. Doesn't happen.x
Nems
The gimmicks really killed my enjoyment of this WAD.x
Zapzop
It's quite hard on UV, and many of the maps rely on gimmicks.x
Getsu Fune
as a whole this ain't even close to fun.x

Through all my way of checking the maps, I was like "oh, nice ideas, oversimplified maps - 4, maybe 3 stars". But then, I reached the secret surprise of Episode 3. That by alone deserved a 5*, so that's what you get now.x
