Description: TRENCH WARFARE! An incredible DEATHMATCH adventure. Hunt down your buddies in an intricate maze of trenches, while seargants and imps shoot at you from above. Watch out for baddies in the trenches too. No, we didn't overload the level with bad guys, they are just strategicaly placed. Remember, this is a WAR, not masacre. FOR MAXIMUM ENJOYMENT, TURN RESPAWN ON! The level will run out very quickly if you don't. Trust us. We have play tested this for hours, and hours, and hours, and hours. : There is a cooperative exit for multi-player, and a simple one for single player. Oh, and have a good time, all the time. : Did we mention that you should turn RESPAWN on? doom -file trench.wad -respawn

This was on the Master Levels CD. It's a brightly-lit rectangular room with a winding trench below "ground level" and some buildings up top. There are a few imps in an alcove running around the edge of the arena. You can just run to the exit. It would be rubbish in deathmatch. It's a good illustration of why there are almost no games based on actual trench warfare; it's not entertaining.x

I remember an old NoPoet review of Plutonia map 25, where he said the start of that map reminded him of this WAD. I can certainly see a (slight) resemblance. This has an ugly-looking trench running through the map and some small buildings. Completely amateurish design throughout, with no sense at all applied to texturing, and with a few shotgun guys and imps thrown in haphazardly. --1/5x
