Dear amalgoom, clippy crew, and doomworld. I would like to make a formal apology when i was 16, I joined doomworld because I enjoyed making maps. As I grew I met people, got around, had ideas, some failed, some went chaotic and the people I crossed, most of the time left a bad impression. I write this to say, I apologize for all the grief I have caused while as "Johnny Cruelty" I will *not bullshit and try to excuse my behavior. I was a dickhead, not because I was young, but because I was acting stupid and didn't think to stop. I was a terrible Project leader, I often was too bossy and got too obsessed over the smallest issues of a map, and thought every bit of critiscism was a personal attack. i was foolish very foolish. I took people's kindness for weakness, I didn't stop to think "hey these are people with lives and feelings, these aren't employees, these are PEOPLE" I did value these people but not enough, as my rude attitude outshined my respect for them, and in turn people casted me out, a pariah. One such individual I pissed off the most was @doomgappy he was a nice guy, and when the last straw was hit, when I got mad at him making "big" changes to small stuff, he couldn't take it, he lost his cool, he got so mad he was just done trying to help me and wanted me no more. at the time, out of guilt, even at my peak assholishness, a fragment of me realized how much of a asshole I was, and I passed the torch to him, and was exiled. sometime after that, I tried reaching out again, but I still was not quite... in good terms and he told me to get away from him, I was sad and mad but after a bit I understood and moved on. However some advice he told me before he exiled me, was "Just make a new fresh start and maybe one day things will be better again." so I did, I made grungo as not just a new fresh skin, but something more... something you might call... a "Gimmick" I spoke like Torr from fallout 2, and donned a blue velvet suit. My motto was "What would grungo do" which was the opposite of Johnny Cruelty... While some elements of JC leaked, I tried to maintain this new persona, by being nice as much as I could and aspired to be a better person, saying nice things on wads, making nice jokes, trying to do better in art. at first it was a suit, akin to a wolf in sheep's clothing, but I felt better being Grungo so I embraced it. Instead of me pretending to be someone I am not, I shaped myself to something I wanna be. But I must admit, even when I am trying to change, I admit I am not perfect, and sometimes I am a ass, I cannot lie, But I try and I understand if I keep trying to change, I will be like pinnocho, Grungo won't be a persona to me anymore, but more of a reality of what's me. I'd also like to apologize for being annoying, that's on me and I should learn to control myself more, I am getting older and no longer a kid anymore. In short I wanna say sorry for my misdeeds, and I don't expect forgiveness nor a slap on the wrist, I understand I left scars on people, scars that may not heal. and I understand some people just don't wanna do anything with me, and that's ok. I just gotta take it easy day by day.. as for the persona, I might keep it up, because some people like it, and that outburst last night was me angered by some, and I understand some people take offense to the persona and see it as a sign of not taking up responsilibility and I understand it. But I take total responsiblity for my childish behavior and just hope for the best signing off, Grungo.22 points

Hi again, In this episode, my gf wanted to give me a gift, so she crafted a 90's vibe speedmap. Not much to say about it otherwise, only that trying to speedrun-max this might be a pain in the neck. doom2.wad; complevel 2; all difficulties implemented; no jumping/crouching; tested in GZDoom and DSDA-Doom. DOWNLOAD SCREENSHOT: *Edit: this map sure was a gift, coz it made me experience the all ghosts monsters glitch for the first time!18 points -
Going to close this thread, because I don't think this goes anywhere nice nor productive anymore. Strictly speaking, having multiple accounts here is not allowed. Especially when caught trying to sockpuppet or attempting to evade (temp) bans. Otherwise I don't really care if someone wants to make a fresh start here for whatever reason. Unless I start to get more and more reports commenting on the same'ish behaviour that promped making a new account and my patience finally wears out.16 points

And if based Grungo isn't Johnny Cruelty? What if you are barking up the wrong tree? Have you any actual evidence outside of "he appeared when Johnny left"? I think that actually Johnny was the scientist that brought Grungo forwards! We should be thanking Johnny for thawing out Grungo! He talks like him and goes to the same places because Johnny taught Grungo how to talk/act! Jesus, it's that obvious people, I swear literacy rates are at an all time low, for shame. I'm depicting you all as the soyjack on my cave painting, hope you're happy.16 points -

Also the apparent interest in Corridor 7, and the fact that JC's sprite art looks similar to a simple colorized version of something Grungo might make, and some other coincidences, for example... Johnny asks where to find The Lost Episodes of Doom, and some time later Grungo asks us what we think about it. Also posts about Fallout, and an interest in ALT with two similarly-worded posts: On the other hand, the brain of a cavedweller is too primitive for such a scheme...11 points -

hey, i get that you're kind of upset that people are trying to dig into your history...but doing this isn't gonna help. i suggest just forgetting about this whole thing and carrying on as though nothing happened. also, to everyone being mean to him in that thread - fuck you. people can change and get their shit together, so knock it off and quit being assholes. he's trying to be better and is clearly ashamed of his past, so instead of dogpiling on him like a bunch of shitheads, congratulate him for doing better.9 points

Made a small experement: "sound propagation mode" for automap. Inspired by same mode from Doom Builder, except here everything is happening in real time mode. Probably could be useful for some purposes? Example video (implementation no longer experemental, yay):9 points -

Been a little while. Finally sat down and knocked out the last few things, so now this can be considered final. Download links have been updated one last time. The main change concerns all the maps that originally had death exits: there are now alternative conditional exits that are not death exits, which should open up strategies for D2ALL runs and continuous play. Otherwise, there's only a handful of other changes since RC3. -A few maps had geometry changed to give better performance -Fixed some possible softlocks in MAP32 and MAP34 -Adjusted the monster and item composition in MAP32 and MAP34 -Doggo can't softlock the secret in MAP34 anymore -Added some health and ammo to various maps, mostly the later ones As a reminder, use dsda-doom 0.27.5 (or newer) for the best experience. When recording demos, the new numbers for skill levels are: 4 for Ultra-Violence 5 for Mega-Violence 6 for Nightmare 7 for Ultra-Nightmare If you played the original, I recommend a play-through on Mega-Violence for a new and more challenging experience. For ports other than dsda-doom, enable cooperative thing spawns to achieve the same/similar settings. = Downloads: Judgment: Retrial - Final (5/25/2024) • Mirror • /idgames - Thanks for playing.8 points

I had to take a day or two off from mapping until I could get myself to continue on with my map. It's my first time using those 3D bridges. I'm almost done with this section. I need to make the other path along the cliff next to the waterfall. I'd say I'm about halfway done with the map. I need to make three more sections until I consider this map complete: a jungle corridor with a bunch of trees, a giant roaring river you have to cross through, another jungle corridor and then the entrance to a jungle fortress.7 points -

I will agree with you that these maps are very difficult. One could argue too difficult even perhaps. I've talked with Scionox before about the difficulty of these levels and about potential changes that could be made to mitigate the difficulty. But as it stands the maps are gonna stay as they are now as the author of the map intends to present them. And that goes for every level. I did not run this project, nor have I in the past, with any strict guidelines as to what sort of difficulty level I anticipate or would have wanted for a final release. Given that I never outright stated any rules as such it would be unfair of me to force a mapper to make any changes to the difficulty of said level. That being said, myself and my people have had some pretty long conversations over our project hiatus about future changes to our approach towards running events, particularly with a new focus on difficulty; super-balls hard levels are pain in the ass to test, being honest. As well they often usually stand out as outliers in a mapset drawing negative attention to themselves (see this thread). I will ask Scionox to reconsider the difficulty of these three levels. But! If no such changes are made I will not take any action in removing or altering the level pack to accommodate for difficulty. PUSS wads aren’t specifically contrived or curated for any given experience like you’d expect in something more refined or... serious like Ancient Aliens or Overboard. PUSS is a continual open submission community project series where we pretty much accept anything so long as it fits the rules of the event. I did not make a rule about difficulty. Bummer! While I do enjoy putting effort into these compilations and dressing them up with the glamor and styling of a more formal project, the exercise of the series has always been sort of a mapper buffet that houses a few dozen different mappers each bringing their own styles and mapping preferences to help create a unique haberdash experience of several interpretations of a gimmick or theme. More importantly it allows for newer mappers to either practice with mapping tools and potentially get feedback from the wider community; it allows for the more seasoned to try new things with a unique resource pack; and it allows veterans to show off their stuff. Speaking honestly, there have been several bad levels that I've accepted in the past, that I sort of wish I didn't. But being overtly critical or harsh to maps that, well frankly kind of suck, would be dishonest of me as someone who is willing to host events that anyone can join. A lot of what I just typed out sort of gets away from the main point of level difficulty that's being discussed. To be curt, if any given player does not enjoy one of the 30+ levels in a set, then they can skip the level. No spilt milk to me. I'm not trying to earn a cacoaward. Nor am I particularly interested in impressing anybody with some sort of amazing high quality piece of free media. I make and run these events because I love mapping. I love compiling mapsets. I love seeing people's work and engaging them within a unique creative field that I feel lucky to a part of. I am not interested in creating a space where people will be antagonized and chased after with demands of them to prove themselves about the nature of a creative work they have submitted and entrusted to me to release as a part of a community project. Again, with all that being said. Difficulty guidelines, in addition to playtime and map sizes, will be something that will have set guidelines for future projects. (I am a bit rushed right now and need to leave the house so if I spelled anything wrong or if my grammar sucks and or slash don't make sense it isn't my fault)6 points -
This is an awesome map. Emulating that 90's shovelware aesthetic is hard but this hits the nail on the head. The combat is pretty well thought out, too. I would love to see more of this kind of thing out there.6 points
