Doomworld is very proud to announce that we have a new hosted site, the Doom-related comic strip The Green Pile, done by the very talented Silverwyvern. Head over there and have a chuckle or five at the current strips, featuring the adventures of young Hiss and Scratch. Silverwyvern has a bit of her Doom-related art up, as well.

POTI Is just not funny compared to this! [...] It's much better to draw them, cause you can elicit so much different expressions and emotions from a drawing than a sprite that is constantly looking upset. I mean, so very many people think hiss is so very outright adorable. And I agree! and such an effect could NOT have been done with sprites. I just never really enjoyed sprite comics because of thier ludicrous lack of expression.. [...]

What's the point of replying to such a trolling post like that? I saw it and I said... "uh, this post is so useless and cheap it doesn't merit a reply." The only thing it says is that pickle-hammer seems to like POTI (is this Swampy's strip?) more, and that he has pretty lame social skills. Now you have to prove that sprites comics are no good and that this or that is "better"? Almost as dumb as pickle-hammer's post... and I hear you're even involved in The Green Pile (lettering), that's good, keep up the good work, but try not getting carried away into scathing arguments about your work in forums (kind of like deep does). It's demeaning. You say sprites comics are easier to do? How come, if obtaining expression from them is harder? I personally like the idea, although from what I saw it hasn't reached any level of maturity yet, but the medium is good, since using the actual sprites/textures of the game may be used to elicit all sorts of comical relations with the game. So if done intelligently it is indeed potentially funny. Not to say drawn comics don't have merit when well done, and The Green Pile is doing well. But comparing different mediums like that without considering their potential is short-sighted.

Very true. I suppose I did kind of fly off the handle before actually thinking of a sensible post, much like Deep.. My xtreme bad.
Sorry there 'hammer. But yes. I am invloved in the green pile. I edit/text, basically make them web-ready from scans. But Silverwyvern does all the important stuff. :)

This is good, but I think planet of the imps is funnier. After he kinda gave the simpsons quotes a rest it got pretty good. Plus, I'll never look at a cacodemon the same again after reading these things. Now when one wanders in the window i just think 'cyoooooooote!' at least til he starts shooting lightning at me.
