  • DREADling Released

    Mordeth

In related news, the commercial PalmOS Doom / Wolfenstein clone DREADling has been released. A shareware version is also available, as well as an editor to create your own levels. There's also mention of a first DREADling fansite, which contains among other things level editing information and screenshots.

From the screen shots I would say that he must have used the released source code for this. It looks very much like a modified Wolf3D. Aren't they supposed to make their modified code available? They make the comment that you can't modify the enemies since they don't want to lose all control of the game. If they used the Doom code they are bound by the GNU license. If they used the Wolf3d code I thought the Wolf code was released for personal use only? And they call us freaks; at least we play in color. :)

Well, the engine is very Wolf3D-ish, but I would assume that it was written from scratch, and not based on the pretty much unusable Wolf3D source code. After all, it can't be THAT hard to write an engine which doesn't render floors, ceilings, height changes, or non-orthagonal walls...

Has there ever been a game like Doom/wolf 3-d for a palm OS?
