After an incredibly lengthy development period, Quasar has finally released a new official version of the Doom source port Eternity Engine, version 3.35.90. Eternity strives to combine advanced features with a high level of compatibility, and this update includes many improvements and additions in both fields.

Version 3.35.90, a release two years in the making, features vastly improved mouse code, many EDF updates including damage types and skins, new scripting features, speed optimizations, portal rendering improvements, PC speaker emulation, a new high-precision software renderer, and numerous other changes.

For more detailed information on Eternity itself and what's new in this release, check the Eternity 3.35.90 readme, and the download itself on the Team Eternity website.

There's really no reason to retain all of Boom's default key settings. After all, you don't enable all its default settings (tutti frutti status bar, weapon recoil, &c). I'd remap the autorun toggle somewhere more reasonable than Caps Lock.

Heh, I just went into Boom with a fresh CFG to test if Caps Lock was the default there for this setting, came back to type here and guess what.

EDIT: Ah, well, if there's a way to have the machine ignore the Caps Lock function while in the game it's another matter. The key can be used, then.

Isn't the capslock key annoying? The funny thing is that even when the keyboard is read via DirectInput it tends to have an effect outside the application. Truly hideous...

hahahah yeah, well I bind the toggle to Shift or something in games that don't let me Run/Walk by holding and/or releasing.

Just to be clear this is one of those things I've intended to fix for a LOOONG time and have not gotten around to yet ;)

I'm not all that familiar with the Eternity Engine and have only tried it out briefly. It seems like a decent engine and works well but I was wondering what features make it special - specifically for wad authors. Zdoom has acs/decorate/etc.... what sets this apart? Please forgive my ignorance.
