    Fraggle here with the weekly FreeDoom update.

    Unfortunately, not much has been contributed this week. Over the past week or so the number of submissions has quite considerably dropped. I know for a fact that several people are working on sprites and levels, so I'm hopeful that progress will pick up soon. However, I feel I ought to say, we are incredibly close to finishing the textures. If you can make textures at all and you have any spare time, please consider making a few textures to contribute. Every submission is useful :)

    Among the submissions we have had this week are: some more musics from Scragadelic and Julian, and a work in progress replacement for Map12 from MDenham. Saint of Killers submitted some fixed versions of his player sprite, and Edd submitted some powerup and trooper sounds. You can view all the submissions in the deutex tree.

    2. The current chaingun replacement is much better than yours.

    Oh, and pablodiccter:
    Sometimes e-mail addresses have problems connecting to each other . . . For instance my e-mail address can't connect to a certain co.uk address for some reason.
    If he did get the e-mail I can't see why he would ignore it. I'd think he'd probably send one back saying "It's already taken, how about this one?"
    In any case, something about this sounds weird. But I don't think he's purposely ignoring you.

    You're a very irate person, you know that?

    My point is that it's been done. You didn't go to the bother of finding out that the chaingun is already replaced, and you whine and complain that nobody wants it.
    I could have been more polite, but it seemed like the only way I could get the point across is if I'm blunt, and brutally honest.

    Yeah... my map12 looks more like an industrial complex than just a factory, but it's still closer in terms of "what is this supposed to be" than the original map12. :->

    Im basically trying to make a map06 that has much the same amount of enemies (maybe a few more or less) and weapons as the original level. Most of the level will use similar textures to the original but Im making the architecture more my own style and adding a small urban area and a sewer coz I like making them and it is supposed to be on Earth in Doom2, something id must have forgot in the rush to publish when they made the originals.

My point was: i know the chaingun replacement you have is better, if you'd read your own rules idiot, you'd see that everyone can and should contribute more than one of everything, tons of everything.     I was thinking about a long room with several smaller crushers and a switch to operate them at the far end of the room, just to pay homage to the original without copying it too much. I probably wont use raising staircases though, I never use them.

    I go away for four days... and when I come back I'm in the middle of the freedoom update, and I have my own folder on the freedoom server.

    I haven't really said it before, but FreeDoom is an awesome idea. I tried to create my own game out of Red Alert but replacing all those graphics and sounds was too tiring and lengthy a process, so it just ended up being a simple mod. It was just me and one friend working on the whole project so we got bored after a while. It's about the same as Doom except the main file is a 20MB .MIX instead of a 20MB .WAD

    I'm glad to see FreeDoom is community-based though, and it looks like the leaders behind it have a lot more determination than I did for finishing such a project. Good job guys.

    I checked out the freedoom wad about a week and a half ago, and I gotta say, these guns need to be changed. The pistol needs to be darker and centered, the shotgun looks like some horse shoe arm amputation, needs to be replaced, and the BFG ball looks perfect but the BFG looks like a close-up of an exploded sargeant.
