    For the editing-impaired, Andre Majorel has posted up a small tutorial on making better handrails, with a sample WAD to boot. Short railing that is impossible to get over in any way has always bugged me and this tutorial shows how to circumvent that quite nicely.

    rail.wad is a good example of a DOOM map, that has great effects, but plays like shit :-)

    Oh, yeah, I figured out the trick with the SRS, too, but the idea with the enclosing sector with a lightlevel +1 is cool.

    Or you can use EDGE and make real 3D rails. :)

    This is a good solution for classic DOOM.EXE and other source ports though, very well done.

    Although shooting thru rails is not possible (the SRS would catch it).

    Or you can use Legacy wich have invisible 3d boxes. Or even wait for a new release and get visable 3d floors and make really good looking 3D Rails. Edge like shit y'now. ;)

    I would bet that Legacy used EDGE code, at least as a basis for theirs, we will see...

    Legacy does use edge-based code for it's 3d floors
    This is rather handy 'cos it works in every source port and you can shoot through them with some weapons
