Well the silence is broken. I am incredibly happy and honoured to be one of the top 32. I've only played a few levels, haven't had the chance to play the lot yet, but I've been amazed at what people have achieved. This was a fantastic idea and it has pulled together the community. This product is probably the most anticipated wad ever, and I mean ever (apart from perhaps doom2).

Aard your level was very clever I thought. Lets face it, most people did not write the editor that they produced their level with :) its a concept level and as far as concept levels go, it rocks.

Yah I think that the wads that didn't make it, like chroz's, should be released seperately.

I must say to produce what amounts to my first public level and to have judges decide it was worthy of the megawad is a real encouragement for me to do further work :)

    Well done everyone.

I must say though, there are some quality maps in there, especially the winner and runners up.Congratulations lads, I'm still going to bitch about it though.
y'see i wasted the best part of a week mucking about with my level to get it working in zdoom, if i had of known beforehand i may have made a better level. Also most of the deepwater doesn't work in legacy so if you want to play in hi-res mode i belive your only choice is prboom

Congratulations to the winner and all people who got their levels into the megawad :)

I will download it on Thursday (you heard me, it's correct)

Congrats to all who made it, many thanks to DW for a truly excellent and original contest. Glad I could be one of the top picks, I hope you like my level - I had fun making it. I always love to get feedback.

Don't even try it DM, co-op will hurt if you die or spread out even once, esp. after he blue key door... but it works in ZDoom :)

I ran zdoom -iwad 10sector.wad and I'm getting an error.

    W_GetNumForName: STFN033 not found.

    Did I do something wrong?

Map 32 is really original, it remaind me to E3M2.
All levels are great, but I think map 17 is quite desperating, to few ammo at the begging, and a lot at the end. I hate need to make monsters fight each other.
All levels are great, with some special efects that I never seen before.
But where are the other levels? I want see my level!
I think the next contest could be, make a "monster TC" may be only with dehacked.

    What are you talking about?

If iyt is about those comments in the txt-file I can say this as an excuse: Those comments are all just vrey prelimiary to me and were not my final reviews. I've been a slacker and forgot to send in the reviews on time yesterday, which I regret. But I can assure you that the maps I picked were all considered seriously.. Why don't you email me about the problem of yours and we'll sort it out?

Not that I'd enter, but I was thinking a new contest could be something like "Create the coolest monster" using dehacked and replacing the sprites of some poor soul.

Of course, distributing that would be a pain. Probably just do separate wads of the winners...I dunno.

I can see it now, a whole flood of "new" Cacodemons, named Hissy! Every Hissy entry would have to win as the coolest monster. Geforce2s for everyone!

In -iwad you have to put -iwad doom or -iwad doom2, not the "levels" wad.
    type: zdoom -file 10sectors

Just got home after a tired day at work having played the 10 sectors WAD into the early hours.

Thanx doomworld for a competition that created so much interest and inovation - and that I think is the key word - inovation. It is very hard to believe that such complex, playable and good looking levels could be created with only 10 sectors. A big well done to all the entrants.

If anyone knows why or can work out why their level doesn't work with zdoom can I suggest that, if it is appropriate, you report it as a bug on the zdoom forum? It can only help things for future releases.

It's something to do with the order in which you merged the sectors, i can't remember exactly. but i think i might just do that

Jon - Chroz was in the wad. as number 25. I was refering to the runner ups. But since he was placed on map25 I guess I was pretty close when I guessed where he'd be placed.

/me came in slot 17 cool.

<Even Cooler> Mordeth and AndrewB had me in their top 10. Sw33t.

This contest was so very fun. The first time Doomcommunity wasn't bickering about whatnot.

First of all I would like to congratulate all who made it into the WAD, and I hope you all like my level(map15). Thanks to Doomworld for this great contribution to the Doom community.

I think the next contest should be some kind of demo-contest in 10sector.wad. Maybe the fastest speedrun would be a good idea...

i know ppl spent loads of time working on their wads (or not, in some cases :) and all, but couldn't they at least have aligned texes correcttly? i'm referring to map02 specifically, where loads and loads of crate texes are misaligned. i don't mean this to detract from the magnificent work of art that map is - along with all others - but, jeez, all that wwork to manage 10 sectors, and u have trouble with tex alignment?!?
    Oh yeah - IMO map 27 is [b]THE BEST[b]

Is it me or almost all of the top five or so levels really cramped in places?

BTW, Gas Panic... I think someone's been playing way too much Mordeth episode 1 :)

If anyone reading this has my 10 sector level (i.e. Ling or one of the judges) could you possibly send it to me as I seem to have lost it.

I think it's called nb10_1, or something like that anyway.

u mean me? never played Mordeth

    --------------------------------

for those who care: in doom2.wad, the 10 first levels are somewhere between 29 sectors (map07) and 186 sectors (map10). should we send a copy of 10sectors.wad to id software?

Right now I try to speedrun some of the '10 sectors' maps and get some of the toughiest mayhem I ever encountered. Great megawad! Thanx to all!

yeah I've not properly played mordeth either... just got past Jon_R's first effort (map13 I believe) and loved it, then found my baby :) I must say, there have been about 2 or 3 maps that I really didn't rate along the way.

Some of these levels are really awesome. I've seen some effects that I've never seen before in DOOM. And all this with only ten sectors for every level.

Congratulations to the winner, although I must say that I like "The Aquaduct" (map 26) and "Gas Panic" (map 27) even more. All the detail and the 3D effects in the Aquaduct are simply mind blowing. And Gas Panic has lot's of interesting variation, like the bridge, the cemetery and the castle. Excellent job!

Plus : my level is in the megawad too !!! YEAH !!! It's MAP06.

Congratulations to the authors of the 32 chosen maps. I've only had time to play the first two, but if the rest of the megawad is as good as these first two are, then this is going to be one awesome wad to play.

Thanks to Ling and the others involved in judging and putting together this project. I know it was a lot of work and I certainly appreciate the effort.

Of course it would've been nice to have my map included. In hind sight, the rush job I did to make the deadline as well as sending in a map that in my opinion needed extensive fine tuning, doesn't surprise me at it's ommission. Maybe I can give it a proper fine tuning and release it as a sigle map. We'll see.

Again, thanks to everyone for their efforts in making this a great project.
