Millennium is almost completed ladies and gents. Just a few more levels to finish up and make all purty. But my God, just read the part about the infamous SkyNet level that is to be included. 2 Hours, 47 Minutes to complete with cheat codes. *jaw drops* But look for testing news to begin flooding the Millennium pages in the next couple of days.

Why must every damn level have to be long? Team TNT's 32 level Megawad Final DooM had some of the most longest boring levels around. Now I am not nocking Final DooM but what I am saying is that after a while the level gets boring. Please keep the levels shorter and more funner. Oh and keep out those damn pesky puzzles <--(hint hint Final DooM).

I would have to agree in that I prefer shorter levels. Those ultra-huge monstrosities never seem to hold my interest for very long.

Just to clear things up; SkyNet is the finale map. 90% of the maps in this can probably be done in under 10 minutes without any cheats if you know where to go (or without knowing, if you're really that fast). And no, I didn't know where to go. This was the first time I had played the final version; I knew the layout from previous versions but there were never any barriers, keys or locked doors, etc. in those ones. And again, I am not the fastest person around. But don't worry, it's not gonna be another Eternal Doom, that's for sure. And not many of those dreaded puzzles either. So be happy :)

I'm sorry, but I just have to ask: what the hell is wrong with you people?!?! If you don't like large levels why are you still playing DooM? There are plenty of cool, better looking games that have those three minute levels all speedrunners love so much. What's wrong with levels that require exploring or some actual thought to complete? Am I the only DooMer left who enjoyes levels that can't be completed in under twenty minutes? Where's the adventure in a level you just have to shoot your way through? I love an action packed level as much as anyone else here, but there's nothing that says a long
level can't be action packed. The problem is building levels that combine the two seems to be a lost art. The last time I saw such a level was probably MM2. For example, Eternal had probably the best designs in the history of DooM, but population left much to be desired. I'd love to see an Eternal style level populated like HR. Is this a lost art? Somebody please prove me wrong!!!

Nah, big levels are good IF you make it so there's more then one way through the map. It's also good if new monsters are spawned/teleported into areas you've already cleared. In addition, it helps if walls lower or platforms raise in past areas. This makes it so that when you backtrack, or go in a circle, you're not getting bored running through an empty hallway, trying to find the damn key.

I believe I did this pretty good with my (biggest) maps, Water Castle [Heretic] and Containment Area [Doom2]..

I don't think SkyNet will be boring by any means. There's so much stuff to explore, there is quite a bit of going back and forth especially if you don't know where you are going (like I was when I did that test run the other day) but monsters do teleport in and there's usually some new stuff that opens up when you go by the 2nd or 3rd time.

And yeah, your big maps kicked ass. Containment got a 9.5 overall score (from me! :-P)

The thing I hate about big levels is the fact were you miss something and you have to go all the way back to the start to get it. How fun is it looking at the corps of dead monstes as you run around looking for something which may not even exist. It's not fun at all. I would rate having a nail put through you skin more fun. If the level works on a room by room basis, Then I don't care about the size (Unless it was the playstation version, were you can't save in mid level)
