    Sure, I know it's not Doom, but it's ol and what the hell. The WolfGL homepage has been updated with a new version of the OpenGL port of that terribly old game. There are some new features in the port, but the author seems to have forgotten them (oh well).

    "of that terribly old game" That isn't nice, I'd consider Doom a "Terribly old game", wouldn't you? Course... Doom DOES stand the test of time better, even taking into consideration the years difference between em.

    It's because you can do far more with the Doom engine than with Wolf. Wolf uses a simple 64x64 map grid made up of fixed with/height/depth blocks and sprites. Also, Wolf3d does not have any way to load external map/resource files (other than having the user copy over some of the game data files with modified versions)

    That's probaly why it is considered "primitive" and is not as popular as Doom (though apparently there are some effects such as poisoned floors in the game that weren't used in the actual game).
