  1. That's exactly my story with the game.
  2. In 30 years the community will be a bunch of old guys swapping theories about a lore, that never existed in the first place, while playing the game with freelook and jumping which didn't exists in the original release either. The knowledge of what Doom was, how it looked, felt and played is already fading, as players join, who often weren't even born when Doom was released, and grow up with modern source ports and a lot of mods, which change the way the game works. On one hand that's sad, but on the other hand that's one of the reasons this game won't die.
  3. It isn't as big of a problem as Lunduke suggests:
  4. But which version? I would prefer the 3DO version over the Mac/PC version.
  5. You have to click on "Face" on the sidebar. On the lower end you find "Texture Collection", there you have to click on "Show", and then you can add your wad by clicking on the plus sign. Note that you should choose "Absolute" on the path options, for the other options often don't work, at least from my experience.
  6. You know that there is an option for unlimited saves? So in fact nobody is forced to use the soul tether saving system.
  7. Sure, but licensing the original Quake engine alone does not make it legal to make the game closed source, they have to actually use this code, instead of the Darkplaces code which is GPL 2.0. I'm pretty sure that is a vast amount of work, creating something like DP based on the old Quake code.
  8. Seems that the source code isn't available at Github anymore. https://github.com/KillPixelGames Does that mean they plan to release a more recent version of the code, now that the full game is released?
  9. It is late here in germany, i try to reset the brightness tomorrow, and look if this is solving the issue. Thanks. Edit: Setting the brightness back to 0 fixed the issue.
  10. Yes, i increased the brightness.
  11. This is when you are further away: https://ibb.co/zGScxVZ This is at the range when sprites disappear: https://ibb.co/VvWjWLQ This is at closer range: https://ibb.co/6bL0tLZ Note that in the last image some sprites are still in the range at which they are invisible. And sorry for the crappy quality of the images, i just made some quick shots with my phone.
  12. Finally my RRG copy for the switch arrived. While playing the sprites (enemies and decorations) keep going invisible at a certain range. They are visible as long as they are far away and if they are at closer range, but there is an range in which they simply disappear. Did it have somethinng to do with the configuration, hardware limitation or is that a bug?
  13. What's even more unbelievable is that the game is released on GOG the same day it is released on Steam. Have downloaded it, will play tomorrow, while waiting for my big box copy.
  14. You should keep in mind, that development in the beginning started with stock Indy machines, before the developers got real devkits.
