  1. I've been playing this and I'm about halfway through. The level design is really good and I love your attention to detail and sense of place. The environmental storytelling in the wad is really strong and I've been enjoying the exploration aspect of the maps. I do have to mention a couple of glaring issues I've experienced that have been hindering me from enjoying this wad as I should. The first is the fact this wad is not exactly pistol start friendly. I tend to pistol start megawads and the balance is all over the place in here. Some maps work okay, but for example map08 had me starving for ammo while having 440 cells for a plasma gun that doesn't exist in the map. I mostly spend the time searching for weapons while all of the maps have ammo for all weapon types way before you can find them. I realize that continuous is probably the intended play style and is the "natural" one in terms of Doom progression, but pistol start balancing has to be taken care of IMO. No map has been impossible so far, but some have been way more unfair than if I'd have continued as usual from the previous without resetting my inventory. The other issue I have is with the backtracking. Most maps just have you backtrack from one side of the map to the other after picking up a key, and I noticed that you're not a fan of monsters teleporting in or monster closets in general, so the backtrack just tends to be very boring most of the time. Not as much of an issue rather than a personal opinion on how you could improve engagement in your maps. The Cyberdemon fight in map32 felt very unfair with the tiny space I was given to try and tackle it. Couldn't beat it without cheating. Other than that, great work and congrats on a very solid release! Hope to see more from you in the future. :)
  2. I really enjoyed this set of maps! Very creative and well rounded works. I coludn't help but notice the signifcant gap in quality between the Classic and Modern packs as a whole. While the Modern pack had a few cool maps in it and some slightly amateurish, the Classic set was absolutely incredible in comparison. There were no misses whatsoever and if I had to judge them I'd have a really hard time because of how fun all of them were. This is a sleeper set for sure, and it's worth the time playing all of the maps. Vogel Im Kafig and Crimson Liberation were my personal favorites. See you on the next one, and keep up the amazing work!
  3. Congrats on the release! I seem to have played an earlier beta of this way back in 2017, glad to see it's finally finished.
  4. I find Pain Elementals, as well as the specific kind of Archviles that spawn in after a long fight only to resurrect everything I worked hard to get rid of, disrespectful.
  5. Congrats on the release! I wasn't really following the Dev thread but looking at the screenshots you guys have cooked up something insane and I'm all up for it. Can't wait to play this!
  6. Oh wow, I never expected this one to drop! Screenshots look incredible!
  7. Congrats on the release! This came completely out of nowhere, and it looks really promising. Will definitely try this out as soon as I can.
  8. Yo why has no one commented on this yet lmao What a fantastic little wad. Kinda like E1 on crack. Loved it. Love to see another release by you! Keep up the great work!
  9. Aww yeah baby, it's squonkin' time. Screenshots look great as always!
  10. Hey mate, really cool wad that you've made here. Good to see how much you've improved since Azazel's Second Descent. I've played up to map04 and I've noticed that the dehacked patch apparently doesn't work in the latest version of GZDoom. For the record, I tried extracting it and launching it as a separate .deh file but that also doesn't do anything. Could you please look into this? Thanks in advance!
  11. Great stuff! I enjoyed this mapset a lot and I really liked how each map was better than its prior, showing how much you improved as a mapper as you progress. A couple of issues I've found: 1. On Map04, the part where you pick up the plasma rifle, if you accidentally step on the panel where the plasma was after you've already opened the door that closed you in, you get softlocked inside. 2. On Map05, starting area, one of the floors is accidentally set to F_SKY2. Other than that, keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to your future projects. :)
  12. I just told myself a few days ago that it's been a hot minute since I've played a Jimmy map. Excited to try this one out.
  13. The game constantly demanding about 30$ every few months for 80% of the new content is a good enough reason not to come back to it, especially if a few years down the line they just release it all for free. It's a fun game and I enjoyed it a lot during the Dreaming City era, but the last time I tried to come back I played for about 30 minutes before being paywalled and I just dipped out ever since.
  14. More than everything that's already been said here, I tried giving a chance to the Twitch Stream of the Doom Awards on the debut of the ceremony. From the mere 15 minutes I spent there, I saw that the stream was done on a flat background with no actual list of the winners, the streamer (who I assume was hakros?) flatly reads the AI-generated articles with zero enthusiasm in his voice, all while Discord is blaring at the background with the chat spamming him to turn down the volume. Anyone in the chat complaining about the AI articles would have their comment deleted, and then if you ask why your comment was deleted, you get kicked off the stream. He couldn't even be bothered presenting his own award ceremony in a way that would make it engaging and fun. And that's just sad. Joining the Cacowards team really made me understand just how difficult and thought-out the whole process is. Seeing someone attempt to half-ass this job with AI garbage is just upsetting. If you want to write for a wad that you enjoy, do it yourself. AI can't replicate soul.
