If you want to request a different slot you are more than welcome to do so. If you were dead set on those slots and no longer want to contribute it is still up to you. If you still want to contribute, I would be more than happy to give you feedback and keep randomsounds01 updated. Thanks for letting me know otherwise. -

There are two forms of unplayability these days. First is the fact that owning a physical copy of a retro game and to be played on a retro console are becoming more and more inaccessible. If they are accessible, they are becoming more and more expensive. Just look at how expensive Outrun2006 is on eBay. Second, I grew up playing games on the original Xbox and PC so playing older 3D games are really hard for me because some of them make me a little sick. As for LC herself, you can be a beautiful badass with a deep emotional backstory. I just don't understand why you can't have it both ways. Take Rynn from Draken and Rayne from BloodRayne for an example. By the way there is a couple of TR1 and TR2 fan made remakes using the UE4/5 engine in the works. -

Crap, the last version that I have in my folder was uploaded on the 24th. If this is a newer file since then, I will include it in next week's update. Sorry if you have fallen through the cracks. -

There have been enough interested mappers to fill all 80 boxes, but if it gets closer to the deadline and there is still not enough submitted wads to fill all 80 rooms, I am also willing to submit more boxes too. @DynamiteKaitorn Thanks for the heads up. As stated here https://www.doomworld.com/forum/post/2708560 we have your box 08 submission, so you are good to go, thank you. -

Hello again, @randomsounds01 as of 10-01-2023 I have added a new folder with all the recently updated and submitted rooms. I have date stamped the folder and you should have access with that link that I sent you. There have been updates from @BlazedMaps, @Chariot Rider, @Craneo, @Djoga, @SmolGhost, @Slaughter, @LSC Lasico, and me 'BlindChaos'. As of yet, out of the first 20 room requests, there have been no submissions from: @Origamyde who originally requested box 05 but that slot was taken by @Raith138 instead. We did get Raith138's box 05 submission. @Origamyde and @DynamiteKaitorn who originally requested box 07 but that slot was taken by @Matt Eldrydge instead. We did get Matt Eldrydge's box 07 submission. @DynamiteKaitorn, @Origamyde, and @DoomGuy999 who originally requested box 09 but that slot was taken by @jo2ukegappy instead. We did get jo2ukegappy's box 09 submission. @Moustachio who requested box 11. Box 17 is still open, if anyone is interested. @Jakub Majewski who requested box 18. I'm not trying to call anyone out, nor am I trying to rush anyone because I know art and design takes time. I'm just trying to see how your progress is coming that is all. I also think that maybe the deadline should be extended out a little bit, because we only have about half the boxes submitted. - For all the noob mappers who are submitting to this project here is a pro tip. Pro Tip #1 - Columns When designing a room with a vertical column that needs to extend permanently from the floor to the ceiling; 1. draw your sector, 2. select it via sectors mode & 3 delete the sector. This will create a blank space where the column used to be with automatic impassible linedefs. While the lines are still highlighted, select the lines mode and texture the lines that form the column. This makes it super easy to; 1. create and texture an infinitely tall column, 2 makes one less sector plane for vanilla and older ports to calculate and render & 3 creates less issues while copying and pasting it elsewhere in the map. Just a quick tip for anyone new to mapping. -

There has been a lot of flak on YouTube recently about Tomb Raider: Anniversary not being a good game. I've only played through the first 2 chapters, and I have to say that it is a really good game. I like it a lot better than Legend, but I still cannot say that I like it better than Underworld though. Let's be honest, the original Core Design tomb raider games are almost unplayable by today's standards. Anniversary also has my favorite character model of Lora Croft from all the Crystal Dynamics' Legend trilogy. I love using custom outfit mods, especially the BloodRayne outfit, during gameplay sessions. I just don't know why there is so much hate for this game. -
No problem. I'm not really interested in making another 10-line only map at the moment. I'm currently helping out with the Box Doom community project to which I submitted 3 rooms. However, below I have attached all the maps that I submitted for 10 Line Genocide into one small convenient package. The third map in the package was not used in the community project because I built it after the deadline. Most maps in 10 Line Genocide were Triforces, slaughter maps or used Doom/Booms exploits/glitches. My third map used 2 of those tropes. The music included is just shortened versions of Doom 2 music just renamed to Hexen file names. This is to ensure that they work in ZDoom ports and not override their original longer versions. There are also screenshots in the archive too. BC_10LNS.zip

The zip file is invalid meaning that I cannot open it. Can you please rebuild your zip file and reupload it, thank you. -
Intrude is a game on Steam created with GameMaker studio that was largely inspired by games like Wolfenstein 3D with a light sprinkling of ideas form other games. Intrude comes packaged with a free level editor and soundtrack. Before a Microsoft update crashed my PC a couple of years ago, I had planned on releasing 3 projects for the game. After the update I had lost most of my maps, because I had to restart my OS from the last saved state. Here is what remained from all 3 projects.
-
No, 10 Line Genocide is a community project started by @NiGHTS108. It contained over 230 maps, but minus the last level each map used only 10 linedefs. This project was inspired by the 200 Line Massacre and 100 Line Massacre community projects. Also, I contributed maps E1M15 and E1M18 to the project.

I wrote this fantastic poem for 10 Line Genocide. I hope this is what you are interested in.

Just a quick question, what game engine did Star Wars: Obi-Wan for the original Xbox use? Like the Unreal 2 engine the Quake 3 engine powered quite a number of games back then. I'm sure that there is quite a number of them that were forgotten.

Hello everyone, As of 09-24-2023 I have uploaded all the updated wad files and have sent a folder link to @randomsounds01. If your maps have been updated since then I will upload them to that folder once a week either on Sunday or Monday. In that folder I have renamed all the files to make them easier to manage and maintain. For instance, my files will be called "BOX33,34&69_BlindChaos" for multiple boxes in the same file or simply "BOX69_BlindChaos" for single box submissions. Each week I will try to reach out to anyone who was interested in submitting files to the project who still haven't done so. That way I can keep everyone on the same page. If you have submitted a box to this project and haven't filled out my Google form, please feel free to do so anytime, thank you. https://forms.gle/GajfojjDkaXmVFFZA In the folder I have uploaded files from: @LoneAlpha2401, @BlazedMaps, @BUYXRAYS, @Proxy-MIDI, @No-Man Baugh, @Matt Eldrydge, @DynamiteKaitorn, @jo2ukegappy, @MrBlaskovitz, @Djoga, @glue_sniffer, @Cutman 999, @xdude_gamer, @scientifikgenius, @macro, @SmolGhost, @SteveTheSpaceJanitor, @Dragonfly, @DankMetal, @Raith138, @crug, @stochastic & @Scionox. Additionally, here is the link to the spreadsheet for anyone who needs it for their records. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_lVwT1AyAB1FYaHZT383RwwGyfk3xv2TjFnnFyiJ4Yg/edit?usp=sharing -
That's why I mentioned that it was totally unrelated. Most indie WiiWare games were just flash games anyways. Personally, I wish that Quake 1 and Quake 2 source ports used the Quake 3 pk3 format because it is so much easier to manage on the fly. I'm so grateful that ZDoom uses it. I also wish that Slade could manage and compile Quake 1 wad files. That would be super neat.
-
Totally unrelated but even Halo CE and Halo 2 used BSP objects in their levels before switching to static meshes for Halo 3 and beyond. Even though they are a different WAD format Quake 1 used that file type strictly for texture resources. Even the Wii virtual console (WiiWare) distributed their games in a WAD wrapper.

I've been watching videos from the Virtual Gaming Library YouTube channel of every game released for every popular classic American released console. I've watched the NES, SNES, GB(C), GBA, NDS, N64, GameCube and Wii for the Nintendo. I've watched the Master System, Genesis, Saturn and I am finishing up the Dreamcast for SEGA. I've watched the PS1, PSP and PS2 videos for the PlayStation. I will be starting my final video for the original Xbox soon. Because I only watched an hour or two a day this project took over 3 months. During that time, I have come to the conclusion that most games did not age well. There have been a crap ton of hidden gems that I did not know existed and there are still a large number of games that did age really well. But for most games, they are almost unbearable today. That brings me to the PC. With the help of source ports and mods id engine games aged gracefully and are timeless. Games like classic Doom, Heretic, Hexen, Quake, Quake 2, Quake 3, Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast, and Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy are still timeless. Games like Heretic 2, Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force, Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2 and American McGees Alice though look okay today still need some tender loving care though. For the most part, however, id engine games have stood well through the test of time. With mods and source ports you can run them on any modern computer without much hassle and still enjoy them today. Thank you, id, for making a series of timeless engines for the PC. I believe that everyone here at Doomworld would agree.

Thanks for your understanding I don't mind. Here is another reason why Idaho kind of sucks. We never raise our minimum wage unless the Federal government does so. It was only raised after it was Federally mandated to do so. Based upon my research and understanding about some other states here are some of my thoughts: Hawaii - HI has a large percentage of homeless and unemployed because the cost of living is so damn high but lower skilled jobs are harder to come by. Alaska - The federal government pays people thousands a year to live here. California/Nevada - There was a chronic fatigue outbreak around Lake Tahoe in the 1980s which was ignored by the CDC. Florida - FL has a high percentage of older people who move there to retire. My mean old neighbors moved there when they retired back in the 90s. If you ever played the game Lake on steam that was pretty much the sub plot of the game. Meredeth's parents decided to take a vacation to Florida but then they decided to retire there because they liked it too much. Utah - UT actually has one of the lowest percentages of homeless and unemployed than any other state. I still don't know if Utah and Idaho technically 100% have legalized CBD oil. Idaho - Downtown Boise, ID is one of the best places to be homeless in the nation. Outside of living in the shelters the churches really know how to take care of the homeless here. On certain days, if they are willing to walk everywhere, a homeless person can have like 12 meals that day if they really wanted to. About homelessness (PSA): 25% of homeless people are homeless because they have a chronic illness not because they have an addiction, are mentally unstable or are lazy. They live on the streets because the medical system has failed them. Another 25% percent are homeless because of no mistakes of their own. They live from paycheck to paycheck, but they were laid off work, evicted from their homes or any number of catastrophes. @Endless Do you really like Oregon and Crater Lake and would really like to visit someday? If so, you should really check out the game Lake on steam. It does a decent job in depicting what life was like in a small fictional town in Oregon in the 1980s. I really liked the game because of the character involvements and the chill nature of the gameplay and setting. Don't forget to crash the mail truck every once in a while too.

Despite my reservations about Idaho, I do think that it is a beautiful state to live in. Even the small border towns on the border of Idaho and Oregon have their special charm. For the most part, people outside of Boise are actually rather chill. Just people in Boise, Meridian and Eagle give the rest of the state a bad name. Let's try to keep this thread low key on sensitive and controversial political issues and focus more on personal observations, stories and opinions more. @TheMagicMushroomMan Let me tell you a story about my personal health issues and struggles. I first started having stomach problems around 2008, but I pushed through it because circumstances and people in my life prevented me from finding answers. I was supposed to force myself to man up and deal with it. Over the years my stomach issues progressively got worse, and my employer started restricting my bathroom privileges. I did not know that I had H. Pylori at the time. Then in 2013/2014 I started getting really tired all the time. The kind of tired that no amount of sleep could ever satisfy. Then in 2014 my father passed away, to which I wish I knew about bereavement leave at the time. After he passed away, we ended up losing the house. Prior to losing the house we needed to clean it out before it went back to the bank. That house was covered in decades of dust and mold to which I got really sick and to this day I haven't recovered. I ended up having to quit my job in 2015, because I started having a sudden onset of over 20 strange symptoms which included debilitating headaches, worse stomach problems, forgetfulness, brain fog, eye problems, worsened fatigue and neurological problems. Every time I went to the doctor, they kept insisting that I had depression or anxiety, which could be true, but they kept ignoring my physical symptoms. They kept prescribing antidepressants for the headaches, which give me high fevers. I remember being placed on amitriptyline which caused sleep paralysis and nightmares to which I saw a shadow demon standing over my bed. Because doctors wouldn't listen to me, I started hitting the internet to figure this out on my own. I had to force the doctor to test me for a bunch of stuff in 2018 that could cause my stomach problems and it was then that I learned I had H. Pylori. This was after becoming homeless, because of my health issues. By then I had stomach been symptomatic for HP for over a decade. I don't fully understand the damage that it had done to my stomach by having it so long. Every time I went to doctors, prior to testing for it, they kept insisting that I only had anxiety and nothing else. They also then try to misdiagnose you with an eating disorder too. I don't eat much because my stomach is in a lot of pain, not because I have a mental illness. Doctors and GI's won't often think about testing for HP without having an ulcer prior to the diagnosis let alone having a previous diagnosis of gastritis. When doctors don't listen and don't want to test you for anything it leaves you frustrated, hopeless and afraid. When they do listen, they end up sending you to the wrong specialists. You go down the rabbit hole and rely on Facebook and Reddit support groups for hope and support. There is a lot of harm that this does. There is a lot of harm in trusting the wrong people on these groups and trying to find hope in the alternative health industry because the doctors won't listen to you. Later I found out that I cannot take most prescribed medications which include the Proton Pump Inhibitors, most antidepressants and antibiotics because I have a genetic disorder on how my liver processes the medications. If I take even a small amount of these medications, they build of toxicity in my liver quick making me very sick. This left me with one option to try to figure out everything on my own and what to do about it naturally. Later I was formally diagnosed with Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder which is a catch-all for anyone with hypermobile joints and stretchy skin. On one end there is Benign Joint Hypermobility and on the other end there is Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I fall closer to the hEDS side of the spectrum because of my other co-morbid symptoms. With any hypermobility disorders you are more likely to also suffer from POTS and MCAS. POTS or even Orthostatic Intolerance can be a co-morbid health issue with any number of chronic illnesses which could include long covid. Also, MCAS has been demoted recently and is simply called long covid by some doctors, but most people with MCAS never had covid. hEDS, POTS and MCAS are also genetically linked too. To know if you truly have POTS, they will need to do a tilt table test. If you have a fast-resting heart rate while lying flat and then your blood pressure falls really fast, but your heartrate increases then you will most likely have POTS. Recently, because I have jaundice, I have also been diagnosed with Gilbert Syndrome too which affects liver detoxification. It is technically benign but in 25 percent of those who have it also suffer from lots of symptoms. Today I normally spend my days in bed afraid to eat, because my stomach hurts all the time, and I am extremely tired all the time. Even though I have lots of diagnoses I still don't know what to do about any of this. Today I am finally in a position to do something about my health issues and hyperfocus on it without having toxic people in my life forcing me to do other things. Additionally, another thing that I hate about Idaho is that over 75% of men never wash their hands after using the restroom, which is gross and could be the reason why I ended up with HP in the first place.

Your boxes are 06, 27 and 52 so you should be using sector and line tags 61-70, 271-280, 521-230 respectively. This helps randomsounds01 with compiling the rooms better so that they don't have to re-assign your rooms tags. If you just type the tags that you already used in that field and if fits in a 'range' value I can edit it later. I have rooms 33 and 34, but I didn't use any tags, so I typed None in the field instead. -
For those who live in the United States, by your opinion, what is the worst state to live in? For those who live outside the US what state would you never want to end up in? Honestly, I live in Idaho. Home of the random Doomworld/idgames FTP mirror and um potatoes. Idaho is classified as a right to work state which means that 1. they can fire you without reason, 2. they can deny you sick days, sick leave and bereavement leave, 3. deny you time off work for anything and 4. restrict your bathroom privileges. The federal government, however, gives workers the right to have 2 sick days per six months period, 2 weeks sick leave through FMLA and 3 weeks bereavement leave when a close family member passes away. Idaho is also years behind on medical knowledge than surrounding states and lacks qualified specialists in several fields. I have a couple of genetic issues which includes a type of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Gilberts Syndrome. I also have a chronic digestive infections like H. Pylori and Candida which have been misdiagnosed as a mental illness for years. Because of the Gilberts Syndrome and my gut infections I cannot tolerate most prescribed medications. I also most likely have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome and Mast-Cell Activation Syndrome too, but doctors don't really want to test me for them. They say that you shouldn't self-diagnose, but I have been more accurate than most doctors have been. Also, if you ever see a naturopath, functional medicine doctor or other alternative medicine practitioner here in Idaho they charge you 3 or 4 times the amount than others in surrounding states. This includes Oregan, Washington and Utah. Public transportation here is half assed too. The federal government offers vouchers to set up bus routes if your city is over a certain population. Minus Boise, which has a work-in-progress bus system, there is at least 5 other cities in Idaho that fit that criteria, but they don't have any public transportation. Ontario Oregan doesn't fit that criteria, because it's too small, and they have a public bus system.

One form submission per box. This generates an itemized Google sheet that I can list numerically by box number. This will also help me keep organized when I give feedback when the project is past the initial submission deadline. I also added those box dimensions to the selections too. -

@randomsounds01 There have been several discrepancies on who gets each box. Below in the spoiler I have attempted to rectify this issue. I have listed the contributors in order by who requested the box first. I have also updated each room numbers with their titles too. There were also a few contributors who haven't been assigned a box as of yet. If you are listed in a spot with another contributor, please work this out between the both of you and randomsounds01 thanks. Currently I don't know exactly how much spots are totally available either. Edit: If each interested submitters requests are accurate there is only 2 boxes available even though there appears to be 15 spots open. Also, I have made a Google form in hopes to help each contributor document their submission. This form could be filled out after their box has been claimed and approved by the OP and mentioned in this thread. This I hope would help randomsounds01 better compile the project and when creating the readme after the project is complete. Next week I will forward a link to the folder, which will include all the updated room submissions, to randomsounds01 to help him keep everything in the same place and better manage the project. In my opinion I think creating a Google form for submissions is a great way to keep everything organized. https://forms.gle/hTDjjDtpQ3CAZam99 Edit: My email address is listed on the form. I cannot hide this, so please don't email me thank you. -

Two ways really 1. First method - Using any modern Doom editor: Open the wad in the editor and go to Tools and then go to Game Configurations. Finally select your OTEX WAD with the Add Resource button and add it via the From WAD File tab. Now you can just press play and run both files at the same time. 2. Second Method - Just drag and drop both files into your source port of choice and like magic it works.
