@Stabbey Thanks for your reply. I will play around with your suggestions and see what work best for that room in the future. @Doomy__Doom Thaks also for your reply and thank your especially for your example WAD. I really appreciate it. @macro Thanks also for your reply. Honestly, I am not that well versed or comfortable with the Boom format nor its capabilities or limitations. Minus ACS I'm more comfortable with the Hexen format because of how actions are set up and its ability to stack decorations and monsters without them blocking each other. I also normally map for Heretic which isn't that dissimilar than Hexen when using the latter's format.

I really like the design of the temple, honestly, albeit obscured by the trees. I hope that this project doesn't fall into the obscurity of development hell. I don't care if it takes years to complete. I hope that it gets released someday. I've always liked most of your maps Scorpio. This room appears to be no exception. I always like to see medieval libraries, cities and castles. They are one of my favorite settings for Doom mods. Please continue to work on this map. I would really like to explore it someday. I really like your chose of grays and browns and how you added trim everywhere. I really like the aesthetic of these rooms. I hope that this project is well optimized for all difficulties. Baby difficulty should be very easy for the noobs. I hope this project gets released someday so we can explore these well-crafted spaces. I really like to see these smaller scale projects with emphasis on style, atmosphere and great texture choices. I hope that you continue to work on it, because I would like to explore these levels in the future.

Here are my map submission screenshots for 10 Line Genocide. Most maps in the project were either Triforces, magnum opuses or just nuts. I erred on the side of balance, detail and atmosphere. Cramped Cargo Flesh & Bones

Box Doom - Community Project [Slots Filled]

@randomsounds01 Finally, here are all my rooms in their beautiful glory. Everyone please let me know what you think and if you find any issues. These rooms are the most updated versions. Please feel free to use their screenshots in your promotional material too. After I receive feedback, I will update them and post them later, thank you. Monster: Archvile Format: Boom Description: I'm making a room in Boom format that I sunk an archvile into a pit. After the player solves the puzzle, the pit rises unleashing the archvile. I want to place another monster on top the archvile to where if the player kills it the monster will be resurrected. This will keep the player on their toes until they solve the puzzle and kill the archvile. I've seen this trick in a few vanilla and Boom format maps, so how would I get this to work in Boom, thanks.

Just to let you know I am working on Room 69. Details are in the spoiler. Having more than 5 enemies would give me more options. Having the BFG before map 69 would mess with what I have in store. Also having the RL before my earlier rooms of 33&34 would also mess with their flow too. Maybe it can be placed in the bathroom at room 35. -

@randomsounds01 Thanks for the opportunity to practice my mapping skills and I thank everyone who has contributed so far. I think that it is very important to continue to have these small-scale community projects. It creates inspiration for us to create and improve upon a talent or skill. Here is some advice for everyone: Every room should be judge upon by their own merit and not by the skill and merit of others. It's like when they judge a Lego competition at fairs. They give the blue ribbon to the Millenium Falcon kit instead of the MOC that a young child worked very hard on designing. I chose to be the castle MOC in a room full of pre-designed Star Wars sets. Have a mindset that each room is an exhibit in an art show, museum or zoo. They are all unique and tell a story. This is the Doomworld equivalent to the art show that high school students host at the end of the school year. Permissions should be required by each exhibiter to edit their piece when needed. Other than the project leader i.e. the exhibit coordinator no one has the right to edit another person's room without their permission. Not even me. Every author/exhibitor should be encouraged to turn their rooms into their own smaller stand-alone maps in the future. It would be interesting to see how this exercise can inspire new and completed maps by each submitter in the future. When compiling the final build with the custom texture pack you can do it one of two ways. First is include only the added textures into the .wad file and second include OTEX separately. The former is the preferred method as it cuts down on download size. Plus, you don't want to include any unused texture resources that you are not using anyways. Also, if you need any help with anything please let me know. I'll see what I can do. I also need to start designing my final room next week too. -

Thats not my room, that's @SmolGhost's room. I can't fix other people's rooms with layouts and textures without their permission. It looks like you are not running this room with OTEX, which you will need to bolt on within the editor and your source port. In the latest version that room's textures have been replaced with textures from OTEX, which makes the room look better. Either SG or @randomsounds01 will have to edit the room. -

I made all my details fit inside that small of space. It can be done I know that you can do it too. Are you talking about room 32 with the maze. That room is @SmolGhost's room. It does have a missing texture under the Pinkey, but I think the texture is there when running it with OTEX. If it is not the room with the maze, can you give me a screenshot, so I can see what you mean, thank you. -

I am personally running QC on my own rooms on the fly. As I see what items and enemies' others have used prior to my rooms I adjust my rooms accordingly. Minus detailing I think it is wise to keep each room basic when it comes to what and how much line specials are used. For example, I have been practicing mapping for years and there is still a lot of specials that I still don't know how to use properly. My rooms are listed as BlindChaos in spot 33&34. They are inspired by what I see in great mappers like Dutch Devil, so please let me know what you think. @randomsounds01 Here is the most updated versions of my rooms. They should be final in the following: Textures have been properly aligned. Difficulty settings have been implemented. I have included a .txt file with a list of all textures used from OTEX. If you wanted to just insert those textures in the final .wad or if you just need them for reference. @SteveTheSpaceJanitor's permission I have made some small changes to his room and have included it them with my file. I have taken the liberty of splicing my rooms and Steve's into the final layout file and changed a few things. I think I like this placement a lot better. Please let me know what you think. Download: Feedback and Issues: Here are a few screenshots of issues that I have found in your map file. As I find more, I will upload more screenshots. -

I have a couple ideas for some small-scale community projects, but after seeing how much CP's are listed in the tracker, I don't want to start them yet. Also, I have a chronic illness, so my health always comes first.

Hey Steve, I noticed that they placed your room in order right after my two. Would you be willing to let me make some small edits to your room? That way it transitions better from mine. Then I can upload both of our rooms together to help the project leader with compiling. The edits that I want to make would be: Replacing your entry door with my exit door. Replacing the soul sphere with an invisibility sphere, because my room ends with a blue soul. Adding a specter somewhere, because invisible things in the bathroom is hilarious. I hope this works for you thanks. BlindChaos -

First, I think that it would be just great to name this CP BOOX: Boxes of Doom in part because it is aimed towards the Boom source port. Thats just my opinion. Below are the most updated rooms for boxes 33 & 34. You will need OTEX to run them properly. Later this week I will upload a newer version which will include: Fixed texture alignments. Implemented difficulty settings. An included list of textures used from OTEX. Adjustments at your request. -

I'll do 33 and 34, but I also want a 5122 room later on. I also forgot to mention that my art handle is BlindChaos so please use that handle for my maps thanks. -

Sign me up for 3 rooms. Here are my criteria: I want to do 2 2562 rooms and 1 5121 room. I don't care where my rooms are placed as long as I get all three with opposite facing doors. I want to do 2 tech rooms and 1 hell room. I am hoping to use both stock textures and maybe sink my teeth into OTEX. I don't care what music you end up choosing because all the rooms will go into the same map anyways. I don't really like your 5-monster limit per room rule, because you can place 20 imps in a 512-room size if you do it right. I do like your no boss monster rule and your 1 archvile rule though. I also think that naming your room is, like you said, unnecessary and/or optional too. -
Thanks, I'll look into it later. When I originally built the map, I sought out making a true Romero lift, but because of the limitations I had to work with what I had. To be honest, if I reduce the lift depth it won't be any more than half the original depth. After watching your video and @NiGHTS108 saved stream on Twitch I did notice that there was a little bit of a personal issue on how long it took to lower. I also saw that my revenant was also well implemented because it punched you in the back and killed you twice. That is just what I anticipated, and it left me with a grin on my face. Also, during @Napsalm's Twitch stream someone mentioned that D_RUNNIN was a great choice for that map, which was great for me to hear. Maybe someday I will make a video compilation of everyone's playthroughs of my maps. Thanks for your honest feedback I appreciate it. Also @NiGHTS108 I think it would be great to replace the standard widescreen brick HUD texture with a basic black one. This would look better with the custom HUD graphic and make the colors more consistent in the HUD's bar. I've noticed that some people don't choose to stretch their status bars.

I just lost a parent. (And an update on things.)
Halfblind replied to Man of Doom's topic in Everything Else
I totally understand how you feel. I lost my 61-year-old father in 2015 due to a heart condition. He was struggling with heart problems for years, but the doctors weren't able to give him a concrete diagnosis as to what was wrong. He died suddenly due to his heart completely stopping a few days after my birthday. Prior to this I was struggling with a chronic digestive illness and to this day I still don't completely know what is wrong with me either. Currently I have a chronic illness and I am losing hope to ever feel better again. Believe me I totally understand how you feel. People would lie to you and say that it will get better every day, but life just gets harder for a very long time afterwards. The best thing to do is to keep going and pushing forward with your life. Also, if you live in the states, you are legally able to take 3 weeks off for bereavement leave and your employer cannot do anything about it. I wish I knew that when my dad passed away, because it would have made things less difficult afterwards. -
Hexen was the first Doom engine game that I ever finished. Hexen is also the only Doom engine game that I finished using the original engine. When installing the game on a windows system through DOS it was the only game that I could get running with sound without any major issues. Windows shares IRQ and DMA channels virtually with other devices, because of this Doom ran really slowly on my old XP system while Hexen ran very smoothly. Hexen was also the game that I learned about the ZDoom port and the Doom mod community in general. Back when I first played Hexen I had no internet, so I learned how to play both the base game and the Deathkings expansion without any guides. Years later I did watch a few Dailymotion videos to learn where all the secrets were hidden though. Even though Hexen was my first finished Doom engine game I've only gotten around to playing it on difficulty 3 at the most. To put this into perspective I've finished all Heretic levels and found all the secrets on difficulty 4. Hexen and Heretic is also the reason why I use the blue chaos star as my profile picture. I made my own chaos device using MS Paint and animated it in Photoshop. Just so that you know my full handle is HalfblindChaos but I also go by BlindChaos as my creative handle.
