I know I haven't been able to beat one yet. This screenshot comes from a total conversion called Legend of Ahssun and these buildings are located a short distance south of the fortress city. The south gate leads to the poor part of town and the harbor while the north gate leads to the two farms and monastery. The mod however, said that the north has the harder enemies, while the south is the easier area of the two. In all actuality the north area has easier enemies closer to town, and it is easier to level up quicker there too. My least favorite part of the mod, so far, is the mines because they are boring and dull. If anyone gets into Gothic 2 mods, I recommend downloading Spine and using that instead of the Gothic 2 Starter that come bundled with the GOG and Steam. It's easier to find and manage the games and mods. I also like the GOG version of Gothic 2 because it is more portable and wouldn't give you permission errors like the steam version.

Ten personal facts about Star Trek here we boldly go. 1. I have some diehard Star Trek verts in my extended family. They think about Trek like a man thinks about sex. 2. My favorite ST movie with the original series cast is Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country. 3. Star Trek: Insurrection isn't that bad of a movie. The Son'a ships are awesome. 4. My favorite ST series is Star Trek DS9 then Voyager. 5. I wish that someone would make a ST:DS9 Action RPG based upon DS9: The Fallen video game. 6. If I was a character from a Star Trek series, I would be half Romulan and half Human and marry a Bajoran woman. I would also be an impartial ambassador who would not be assigned to any given starship. 7. We would always watch Reading Rainbow as a child because it had the guy who played Geordi from TNG. 8. Star Trek: Elite Force 2 could have been a great game, but it fell short by a lot. 9. I think Wesley Crusher isn't that bad of a character. He is much less annoying than Neelix. 10. Hands down I think that the hottest lady on all of Star Trek is Kira Nerys.

Just a normal day in the woods. I thought the name of the unnamed protagonist should have been Richard, Braggart or Errand. Maybe his full name should be Richard Errand Braggart.

What are your 10 favorite albums (or more if you want) ?
Halfblind replied to P_A_Z's topic in Everything Else
Before I got sick, I had lots of albums from the late 70's and 80's. Some artists that I enjoyed were Foreigner, Loverboy, INXS, A Flock of Seagulls, The Motels, Billy Idol, Bad Company, Journey, U2, Rush, Tom Petty, ZZ Top, Scorpions, Skid Row, Mötley Crüe, Dokken and Judas Priest to name a few. Even though these bands had some amazing songs and singles they never had an album that I could listen to all the way through without skipping any songs. These artists had great vocalists and musicians and were extremely skilled in their craft. From that time period here are 5 albums that I cannot skip a single song, because every song is great. 1. The Cars: The Cars This album and "Heartbeat City" are their best albums in my opinion. This album, however, is a masterpiece and every song is extremely well crafted. Here you can find the track listing. 2. Van Halen: Van Halen This album is one of my top 3 favorite albums by Van Halen. Every song is extremely well crafted especially from a debut album. When I was in high school, I carefully hand drew their logo from this album and placed it in the cover of my notebook. Here you can find the track listing. 3. Van Halen: Van Halen II Most bands have a really good first impression to where their first album is their best work ever. Not Van Halen, they continued their winning formula into their second album. In my opinion this album is just as good as their debut. Here you can find the track listing. 4. Van Halen: 1984 Their previous 3 albums, in my opinion weren't as strong as their first 2. This album, however, is just as great as those 2. This album is their most unique album because it mixed Eddie's signature guitars, David's vocals and well-crafted synthesizers. Unfortunately, David hated the synth, but it worked very well for this album. Here you can find the track listing. 5. Whitesnake: Slide It In Before Whitesnake made it big with their "Whitesnake" album they released this gem onto the world. This album stood at a crossroads. It stood between their older blues rock sound and their newer hard rock, metal and radio friendly sound. Because it mixed blues rock with hard rock and a sprinkling of metal influence I think the album sounded better than any other album that they ever released. Not to discredit anything that they released afterwards, because "Still of the Night" is a great song, but this album is just amazing. Here you can find the track listing. Next time I will suggest more 90's albums and artists. -
What are your 10 favorite albums (or more if you want) ?
Halfblind replied to P_A_Z's topic in Everything Else
Before I got sick music was more than just a pastime for me. It was a way of life, a driving force and an integral piece of my internal soul. Music enriches and brings meaning to my life. It also helps me feel deep emotions and envision a different life outside my own. For me choosing only 5 albums is very hard. It's like asking a mother to choose who her favorite child is. I started listening to music in my teenage years to where my preferred genera was Post-Grunge Alternative. I have branched out since then. I can only give you suggestions for some really great albums, not what I think is the best of the best. Here are a few suggestions of underrated and/or lesser-known albums from the 90's that I think that anyone should listen to. 1. Eve 6: Eve 6 The first album that I ever bought. The song "Inside Out" was rather disliked in my small town and my family. Notable tracks include; a. How Much Longer & b. Inside Out 2. Black Lab: Your Body Above Me This lesser-known album has some great songs. After the song "Time Ago" starts the rest of the album's songs are un-skippable. Notable songs include; a. Time Ago & b. Gates of the Country 3. Matchbox 20: Yourself or Someone Like You Their debut album and in my opinion their best. The song that got me into the band was "Push". Notable songs include; a. Real World, b. 3AM c. Push & d. Back 2 Good 4. Third Eye Blind: 3EB Another debut album that in my opinion is their best. The song "How's It Going to Be" was featured on "Dawson's Creek" but never credited. Notable songs include; a. Losing a Whole Year, b. Narcolepsy, c. Semi-Charmed Life, c. Jumper, & d. How's It Going to Be 5. New Radicals: Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too Their only album, but it is a great album regardless. Eight songs on this album are gold to my ears. Notable songs include; a. You Get What You Give b. I Don't Wanna Die Anymore c. Jehovah Made This Whole Joint for You d. Someday We'll Know e. In Need of a Miracle f. Gotta Stay High g. Flowers & h. Crying Like a Church on Monday I will give you more suggestions later. These are just the tip of the iceberg. -
It's easy to find similar movie plots from the same franchise or production company. It's like saying that all The Mummy and Pirates of the Caribbean sequels have the same plot because they are in the same franchise. Let's try to find similar movie plots that are not from the same franchise. Deep Impact (1998) & Armageddon (1998) It should be obvious how these two movies are connected and how they share the same concept and plotlines. These movies are about a large space boulder heading for Earth. If humanity doesn't team up to stop them, it would lead to a cataclysmic extinction level event (ELE) for the entire human race. They send a team up to the space boulders to blow them up, but surprisingly NASA already had our most advanced spaceships in their back pocket. Spoilers: they finally blow up the space objects with the sacrifice of their oldest team captain.

Just what the title says. What are some Science Fantasy movies that share the same plot. Let's try to avoid the connections between the Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Harry Potter and anything related the Mavel and DC comics. Let's not open up that can of worms, because that is a deep rabbit hole. The Thing (1982) & AVP: Aliens vs. Predator (2004) An expedition made up of hired guns and scientists head to Antarctica to investigate a strange phenomenon. What they find is an alien race who need hosts to inhabit to multiply and survive. What ensues is a battle for survival where they resort to blowing the aliens up resulting in only a 'single' human survivor.

I was born the same year that Def Leppard released one of the best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal albums of all time, the fan favorite Pyromania. This was the same year that Pat Benatar released her greatest hit song of her career Love is a Battlefield.

What "Lost Media" are you interested in?

2020 marked the end-of-life for flash games as we know it. Between Adobe, Google, Apple and Microsoft dropping support we can no longer play them online without using other means. There are many flash game emulators and services that archive these games and make them playable today. Without these services many resort to using Firefox or older versions of Internet Explorer to play them. Sites like Y8 have chosen to keep these games up on their site, to help preserve their history and others use embedded emulators like Ruffle. Y8 also has their own browser, dedicated to play flash games and everything else that they support. Additionally, there are archive services like Flashpoint and Flash Game Archive that use a downloadable launcher to manage and play these older games. While Flashpoint has tens of thousands of games in their archive, and one can request games for curation, they do not become available to play in their launcher for a very long time. It could be many years before you could play them with Flashpoint. After their last release of Absence 2 I haven't been able to view or play anything because their service seems to be broken. Flashpoint doesn't seem to be supported or updated as it used to be. Flash Game Archive on the other hand is updated regularly and 50 or more games are added to their service on a biweekly basis and are ready to play and stream without issues or additional downloads. FGA3 supports downloading the games to play offline and running games that you already have downloaded from other sites. Because of FGA3's newer simplistic layout and its consistent addition of curated games I like it a lot better than Flashpoint. Because I want to help support the service by requesting games, I am in the process of compiling a list of my favorite flash games from Y8. From their entire history, which I looked through them all, Y8 has 64,433 flash games, to which less than 50 games interested me. I am still working on compiling my list and I hope to submit it soon. In this process, I found some interesting flash games. In my opinion, flash gaming could have been so much different. As a gamer looking back and was never able to play these games when I was younger, I feel that flash games could have been so much better. I feel that flash games could have been used to tell an interactive story or be more like interactive art than simplistic mind-numbing games that most of them are. Out of the best games that I found at Y8 some of them fit these criteria nicely. One of my favorite flash games of all time is Katie Commando from XformGames. After looking back, I've also learned that a bunch of games that my family bought decades ago installed from a disk were flash games packaged to run in their own environment. Also, early games from PopCap and WildTangent were most likely flash games too. Also, in my opinion, flash game support died not because of their security issues but because companies like Microsoft, Google and especially Apple couldn't control their fair use and their marketplaces anymore. You could embed advertisements and links into the games, which Apple especially hated. They couldn't control the advertisement revenue, or page viewership, so they cut support for the games entirely. That's just my two cents anyways. -
There has been a resurgence of new mappers releasing their first maps/projects in last few years. There have also been a lot of Christmas map sets released last holiday season. More than most years. I would nominate the following vanilla style map sets. If they don't get in the top 10, they should at least get an honorable mention => Haven't played it yet but making 27 maps and their own soundtrack to boot is a quite large feat. For the lifetime achievement award, I would nominate Laz Rojas for reasons, if he hasn't already received that award before => Also, part of the reason why there have been quite a lot of new Doom players and mappers in recent years is because they have been introduced to Doom mods via YouTube. Just a suggestion, but I think there should be a YouTube channel award handed out every year. We should honor players, reviewers and other YouTube creators that do anything positive towards the greater Doom community. Creators like @ICARUSLIV3S, @decino, @Dwars and even creators like @pagb666 would be some suggestions. I just thought I would give my 2 cents.

Do You Own a Device Capable of Playing Audio CDs?
Halfblind replied to leejacksonaudio's topic in Everything Else
I have an old laptop and Xbox 360 that plays CD's. One of the biggest reason and selling points for a musician to publish their music on physical media (like a CD) these days is so that the buyer can have the booklet insert signed by the artist. There are quite a number of die-hard music fans that attend concerts and conventions to get their physical media signed. Then a percentage of that audience then resells them on eBay and Amazon at a higher price. -
Happy birthday! Now have some cake! Best architecture ever. Not naming the map, you're going to have to guess. This one should be easy though. I found this map randomly in the archive recently. When playing as the Doomguy this map is really easy but fun. While playing as Corvus it was a lot more difficult, because it might have been the low gravity of the map. I don't really know. This map is truly a keeper though.

Most bizzare save mechanics you encountered in games?
Halfblind replied to MS-06FZ Zaku II Kai's topic in Everything Else
Conflict: Vietnam, should have been called PTSD Vietnam, allowed only 2 manual saves per mission. This really sucked because the game was hard as balls and showed no mercy. Best looking game in the series, but worst game critically. Be prepared to rage quit this game. Buffy the Vampire Slayer the video game does not allow for saves. You have to go through the levels without saving. Good thing this game has cheats though. The Punisher the video game I think also doesn't allow for saves. I also don't think it allows for health pick-up's either. I think that you have to go through the entire mission with the health that you started with. Maybe you are supposed to use enemies as shields sometimes, so your health doesn't go to low. The Thing the video game only allows you to save at tape recorders. I feel that this adds nicely to the horror theme of the game. I think it would have been better if they added audio recordings that you can listen to while you save. That would have been awesome. Freelancer only allowed you to save while docked at a space station, capital ship or landed on a planet. To access the menu, you had to use the 'F1' key and not the 'Esc' key like most games. The game Galaxy on Fire 2 also did the same thing minus the F1 key thing. -

Post Your (Other) Video Game Screenshots Here
Halfblind replied to Neurosis's topic in Everything Else
Captain Coffer 2D is a retro pixelated 2D platformer where you collect doubloons and race against the clock. If you buy the game on sale on Steam it is less than 50 cents US. I suck at it, but I think it is a really interesting game though. The music is my favorite part, and the soundtrack is also free. The music is rather catchy and reminds me of the amazing music from many Nitrome flash games. -
I recently stumbled upon this map set while sifting through the archives maps which have a user score of 4 stars or higher. This map comes from BloodRust by Simon 'SlayeR' Judd which has 11 maps. These maps might not be the most impressive maps, nor have the greatest layouts, but they were really fun to play. What are your thoughts about this map set? I figured these maps were in that series. I was a little confused because this edition only had 16 maps. Thank you.

@NiGHTS108 Just wondering how the compiling is coming along. It's been a while since your last post, so I think it is high time for an update. Because my maps take less time to play than the music does to finish, I was thinking of using shorter MIDI's for my maps. @Arsinikk generously accepted to shorten the tracks for me. Just in case someone else was using the longer tracks I renamed the shorter ones to track names from Hexen. Renaming them to the Hexen names allowed me to change the names without any additional scripting. This works in both Boom and Zdoom. Below is the download with only the updated tracks and mapinfo scripts for easier compiling.

@ReaperAA @RjY & @Sixty-nine The map in question is indeed: I have been playing through maps found in the archive under the ports section that I haven't already played. I only randomly choose files that have a full four-star user score or better that looks good and isn't too boring or frustrating. These maps came up next. What does the 32 in 24 mean anyways? Normally numbered wads refer to projects that are either speed maps and/or limitation wads. The final map is crazy because of all the revenants, archviles and cyberdemons making it very difficult to exit the final door. It became a waiting game because I had to wait on the cybers killing enough revenants for me to attempt a suicide run out the door. This was just crazy. The thing that makes the saying in the picture ironic is that Heretic and Hexen are technically the middle children when it comes to id's game engine properties pre Q3. As the middle children they are often ignored, forgotten and unloved by the rest of the family like me. My most recent play comes from Blowup by didy. I won't have you guess this map, because I already covered a didy map before. Corvus just decided to take a visit too. I think these style maps by didy are his best work. His newer maps not so much. Overall, they might not be the best maps you would ever play, even back then, you do come across some very nice, detailed and atmospheric rooms with great texture choices. Like this room in particular.

I think what you are describing is what I mentioned above called 'myoclonic jerks' and yes, I get them sometimes. For more information on sleep paralysis please watch this video.

I know a little about science and weird health issues. I have a point to all this and an experience to share, so please bear with me. I also have a chronic illness, if you want to know more, please let me know. If you have restless leg syndrome or twitching muscles before going to bed it is often caused by nutritional deficiencies. It also may be caused by neurological disorders. If it is the former, even if you eat a healthy diet, your body might still need extra vitamins and minerals. Many have reported relief after supplementing magnesium, calcium or iron. The only way to know for sure is to do a mineral and heavy metal hair test to know what minerals you are deficient in. Please also consult with a doctor of functional medicine, or vitamin expert if you have additional questions. Most western doctors don't know much about nutrition. Also, about 80% of Americans are deficient in many different nutrients. There is another similar disorder to RLS that is called 'myoclonic jerks' which are primarily caused by neurological disorders like a pinched spinal nerve or other neuromuscular issues like multiple sclerosis. These happen right as you are going to bed and you can experience involuntary jerks of your legs, arms and even your head. These are very scary and can really affect your quality of life. I have these sometimes, but doctors don't seem to be concerned about them, like anything else that I have. Years ago, I started having very weird health issues. Very weird that I still can't explain what I am going through to doctors, and I still haven't recovered to this day. In 2007 I started having very bad stomach pains, but I had to pushed through the pain. Years passed, and I thought that the stomach issues would also pass, but they started getting worse every year. In 2015, shortly after my father passed away, my family had to clean the house. Unknown to me was that the house had toxic mold. In March, of that year, I started having very bad health problems, to where I had to quit my job. Years later I also found out that I had a stomach infection called Helicobacter Pylori, but eradication made me very sick. I now feel worse somehow afterwards. Doctors would always dismiss my stomach issues as anxiety, so it made it harder to find help and answers. Part of my health issues, I also suffer from debilitating headaches. Every time I went to see a doctor about them, they always prescribed antidepressants. When taking the meds, I got even more sick. Years later I found out that I have genetic limitation on how my liver metabolizes substances and detoxifies. My liver either produces very few or not at all of key enzymes responsible to metabolize medications and for detoxification. This makes taking any number of certain medications extremely toxic to me. Taking the smallest amount of the meds would make me bedridden with a fever for weeks. These meds included SSRI's, acid inhibitors and beta blockers. I also cannot take natural herbs like St. Johns wart nor Turmeric. I recently was also diagnosed with Gilbert's syndrome, and I now have full and permanent jaundice. With that out of the way, on to my story of sleep paralysis. When I was taking the medication Amitriptyline, prescribed for the headaches, the medication would have extreme side effects. Later I found out that A was one of the medications that I cannot take due to the genetic liver enzyme issues. While on the medication I would be so tired all the time. It would cause my chronic fatigue issues to become worse even on the smallest prescribable dose. Then one night after taking a higher dose than I did before, per doctor's orders, I had my sleep paralysis experience. While in sleep paralysis, my brain was conscious, for I could see my surroundings perfectly, but I could not move anything. All I could do was lie in bed and wait. Then it happened I saw something very scary floating above my bed next to the window. It was a shadow person, but different than what others have experienced. The most common shadow people are the lady that sits on your chest and the hat man. Mine had long slender arms and legs, horns on his head and red glowing eyes. It watched me while I was helpless. I finally mustered up the strength to snore, which then scared it away. Then I finally mustered up the will to get of bed and the experience was all over. To this day I cannot ever forget about it. I theorize that my experience with sleep paralysis was caused by my chronic illness and a toxic liver overload from everything, but especially the meds. I saw something that I never thought I would ever see in my life. Am I better for It. I don't know. Sorry my story was a little long, but I thought I would share it anyway.

@Ludi Like the Rubicon Rumble Pack, some AD maps sure overstay their welcome. Especially when you are trying to find at least half the secrets. Xmas Jam 2021 Grue's and Krampus's maps are especially hard even on easy.
