Tried Whispers of Satan, the symmetry and copy paste design drove me insane. This took more than three years to make?! Gave up halfway through and moved on to Number One Kill: The Next Generation, which I haven't seen in a very long time. One man megawad with 22 maps that was undoubtedly bested by Requiem, Hell Revealed, STRAIN and Eternal Doom III. Damn, 1997 was a great year for megawads! It's honestly like a better Master Levels, they're all pretty hard with big fights, MAP06 was a fucking drag however. Currently on MAP10.

Wow I finished Eternal Doom properly finally after my last playthrough 12 years ago. I'm left with such a conflicting feeling, you work so hard to get three out of six keys and they just hand you the last three over and before you know it you're fighting the most anti climatic Icon fight ever and it ends. I'm not sure how I feel about this megawad or if I ever want to play it again. I'm doing Whispers of Satan next, since I got 15ish maps in and never finished it, also 12 years ago.

Holy shit where the fuck did I go wrong? This isn't open like it is in the video. I'm blown away. Am I gonna have to noclip to finish this monstrocity? E: You have to walk into a web and use it. Wow, disgusting.

The Unity Port Thread - PS/Xbox/Switch/IOS/Android
Lila Feuer replied to Eurisko's topic in Console Doom
Weird, never experienced a crash on Switch. In fact the only game that crashed on Switch for me was Duke 3D. Thanks Randy. -
The Unity Port Thread - PS/Xbox/Switch/IOS/Android
Lila Feuer replied to Eurisko's topic in Console Doom
IDK if anyone else has mentioned or asked @sponge but are there any QoL or additional features planned for this port outside of more map sets? I ask because I am a bit miffed at the lack of a follow toggle on the automap, there's no way to pan it around without moving yourself, I feel like that could be accomplished by pressing in one of the sticks. Quake recently got dramatically improved input for turning/looking and while Doom is strictly turning I do think it's pretty rigid at times, so much to the point I think I've come to accept I will not play as well as I would otherwise with a gamepad on PC which isn't something I do for Doom on the computer. -
Nope, never thought that, I do think the texture set is lacking in variety but other than that each episode feels well realized and themed accordingly.

@rd. TY I could never find this thread most of the time because of it being in WADs & Mods. Anyway I reached MAP21 of Eternal Doom, I'm not looking forward to Excalibur down the line, or whatever fucked up puzzle stumped me on No Parking I think it was, besides a couple videos to assist me on levels 31 and 20 I have had a legitimate run of this PWAD. It was mostly legitimate back in 2009 until I lost my nerve and started noclipping trouble spots in later levels, notably the final level at that. I honestly have no idea how I didn't cheat on MAP20, that was BAD and is everything people must think of when it comes to Eternal Doom maps being overly long to finish and far too cryptic, involving a lot of thinking outside the box, cause honestly most of the levels aren't really like that at all or are at least not that extreme. It's a very atmospheric PWAD that deserves to be alongside the 90's greats and even worth revisiting today, but goddamn there are some real stinkers courtesy of a couple overzealous authors...

This is so nitpicky it may as well be pointless to mention, but I was recently emulating Quake N64 and noticed that compared to the original game the water in Kex is too bright and the skies, particularly the red sky you see on level 2 is washed out compared to its very vibrant color in the original. I could be further nitpicky and be like "why no censored NIN nail boxes, or horribly compressed audio like the borderline muted nailgun firing sound" but I think that's going a little above and beyond for what was simply an inclusion of the maps and an honestly really amusing filter that does a great job at presenting a typical N64 game for modern audiences. Still, it's weird how off some of the brightness and colors are in some places, I don't expect it to be a priority whatsoever but just thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

Playing through Punish2.wad 28 years after making it
Lila Feuer replied to DCasali's topic in Doom General
@DCasali Plutonia is my favorite IWAD! -
I reached this level in Eternal Doom: I've been able to get this far without too much trouble, only Jim Flynn has been the one who made me cave in and look up a video for MAP31, but this is disgustingly awful. I'm kinda blown away. It's like they didn't want you to play any more of the damn PWAD by making something so inaccessible so early on, it's been 30 minutes of fucking absolutely nothing in terms of forward progression and this poor dude was on it for an hour and a half? Fuck, by far the worst map in Eternal Doom.

Awesome, glad to see these fixes rolled out finally.

Gearbox Leadership Shuffle. Pitchford Still in Charge. And Greasy
Lila Feuer replied to Master O's topic in Everything Else
The reign of grease has ended. It's been a decade since there was last a Duke Nukem game and upon DNF turning 10 he just up and leaves, think about it. Creepo never cared. E: TBH I don't want another game anyway, I just feel bad for the fans that waited this long to ultimately see nothing. Duke not being appropriate for this current era is a whole nother can of worms I'd rather not even humor opening. -
*stands as a dark fuzzy silhouette* Hmmm.

It's a shitty practice that enables never improving your play, I save at the beginning of a new map, make a backup save just in case I ever really fucking screw up that I have to redo the entire level. I never save during combat, fights are always preserved as-is until won, but I will save once with a key acquired wherever I feel like setting a point to return to. I very rarely lose my nerve and do a "panic save" in a third slot that negates whether I had saved previously or not if I'm dealing with an especially annoying trial and error ordeal, like platforming over a death pit or a total RNG of an outcome during a particularly nasty combat setup more than a few times. I like a challenge, but I don't like having my time wasted.

They Should Stop Using The BFG Edition For Console Releases
Lila Feuer replied to A Nobody's topic in Doom 3
The fact they outright removed a "negligible" amount of enemies in the re-release defeats the purpose of playing it on fkn Veteran. The naked zombie in Hell is missing entirely in BFG / 2019 edition! On top of being absolutely flooded with more ammo than you ever needed, especially now. What were they thinking? I'm glad they never got rid of the original version on Steam. -
Any level that isn't Metal, Habitat or Mount Pain.

What Video Game Are You Currently Playing?
Lila Feuer replied to Neurosis's topic in Everything Else
It should be Deus Ex w/ Deus Exe & Kentie's D3D 10 renderer, Wolfenstein: The New Order on Xbox Series S, Carmageddon: Max Damage w/ STShotgun's C:MD Overhaul (HIGHLY recommended over the vanilla game), Doom 3 w/ dhewm3 source port, and Quake on Xbox Series S and Switch, but ever since going back and finishing Fallout: New Vegas for the first time (as well as it being my first Fallout game) on Xbox Series S w/ all DLCs after a little over 200 hours I'm sucked right back in with an immediate second playthrough where I toggled hardcore mode and going for a pro-Legion run after sympathizing with NCR before going for an independent Vegas previously. This seriously may be in my top ten favorite video games of all time now. -
Ha, okay I don't use the wheel feature but I watched my S/O playing and I thought I might've been going nuts.
-
Is the nailgun firing speed slightly lower? It seemed ever so much slower but I can't tell, last played on Xbox Series S.
-
Didn't know Copper was a thing, that would be cool as an addon as the change list seems to be very tasteful. Unfortunate to see regarding the lighting / shadows though, I thought the game looked brighter than when I last played on Mark V. That said once again this is a wonderful release. Bought it on Steam, Xbox Series and Switch!

I think this was a superb above and beyond effort made for a re-release, it swung out the gate very strong compared to Unity Doom's initial release. Also I thought Dimension of the Past was kinda garbage and had to cheat against the last two shamblers when I last played on PC. That new episode looks wicked though!

I too thought it was more akin to BtSX, it is a very unique and highly appealing aesthetic though.
