Is this too much? Price for old PSX Doom.
TheUltimateDoomer666 replied to bejiitas_wrath's topic in Doom General
That seems awfully overpriced. Not even eBay copies cost that much. I originally bought a pre-owned copy of that exact release in a local store years ago (it was missing the manual). I don't remember the price, but it was pretty cheap. I then bought a complete copy from eBay in 2022 for AU $54. -
What are your collecting hobbies?
TheUltimateDoomer666 replied to The BMFG's topic in Everything Else
Action figures (e.g., DOOM, Duke Nukem, Terminator) Military and sci-fi model kits (mainly 1/72 and 1/144 scale) Die-cast models (e.g., Star Trek) Physical games Preserved insects and spiders -
My post was a lighthearted joke and wasn't meant to be condescending. What an overreaction. You seem to have a knack for interpreting things in the worst possible way. In another thread you posted about how you were "offended" just because someone wondered why you were copy-pasting Google results in a computer help thread. I must agree with Arlene; I have no idea how you run a YouTube channel if everything offends you.

The trailer is pretty bad, but what really doomed the game was the absolutely horrendous gameplay:

He responded to someone about it (someone else asked him the same question) and said Breath Noise is the correct instrument.

Well, I guess I'll have to take back my previous statement about a DOOM announcement being unlikely at the Xbox Showcase. I only hope it's a normal singleplayer game and not some co-op thing.

who here is excited for the next doom or quake game?
TheUltimateDoomer666 replied to nathanB404's topic in Doom General
I will happily be proven wrong, but I just don't see a new major DOOM or Quake game being announced at the games showcase. There are only 7 months left in the year. There is no way id is announcing a new game and then releasing it in the same year. Take DOOM 2016 for example. The teaser trailer was released in 2014. Similarly, DOOM Eternal was announced in 2018 but did not release until 2020. -
I just did direct recordings of the sounds from both ZDoom versions with no interpolation. After volume matching the recordings, there is no audible difference in the "grittiness" of the sounds. I suspect it's placebo or there is another setting that is affecting the output of the audio.
-
I downloaded both of those ZDoom versions. The sounds are the same. The difference is due to whatever resampling or output rate settings you are using. ZDoom 2.3.1 seems to have the resampler set to linear by default, while 2.8.1 seems to use no interpolation as the default setting.

It looks like GZDoom. Those are the original monster sounds, perhaps with GZDoom's audio interpolation enabled (it makes the sounds less harsh, for lack of a better term).

An extremely awful situation. I made the mistake of looking at the local news (only for the purpose of staying informed on the attacks) and saw comments from people saying the events were "false flags" and that the people fleeing in the videos were "crisis actors". I didn't expect to see so much evil and overwhelming stupidity here in Australia.
