  1. NGL this is about the most dystopian thing I've read in a while. idk, you'll probably just need to find your niche. there's plenty of demos on Steam available for all sorts of games. you may find yourself also in a position where you need to try a genre besides shooter games for a while.
  2. as an American who's moved to NZ, I still have very little understanding of the game but I've gotten to watch a few games IRL and it's fun to watch while downing some beers.
  3. You can ride the rollercoaster in Pacifica with Johnny in Cyberpunk 2077. Gotta try this on my current playthrough
  4. I want to mention, Skeletron, the last interaction I had with you about a question you had, you then pinged me back just 3 hours later when you didn't get a reply back from the person I directed you to. I think part of the issue, genuinely, is that you're impatient. Even in larger Discords, there's people with full time jobs, people in different time zones, people who have certain roles/servers muted altogether, etc. even though it's an IM service, the replies will not always be instant for all of those reasons or more. I genuinely mean no ill will toward you, but I want to contextualize the experience I had with you recently to maybe give you some understanding as to what the problem may be. I do also find it somewhat strange, but I guess unsurprising given how some people in the larger Doom community act, that you assume there's some weird conspiracy to keep your mods from doing well like... locking some random channel behind some illusive wall. almost every Discord has random locked channels that may disappear for no other reason other than... archiving an old channel that's no longer in use and no one wants to look at it and have it in their list anymore. As an admin in at least two Discords, I'd love to not see those, but I still do! Just make what you love, stop worrying about the rest, although I realize that advice is probably not the best to give, because you can't help it. But hopefully an explanation of a couple of your concerns is helpful.
  5. I wish there was more of Hell in the movie because it was frankly the best part. I loved all the cheesy references as well, but the Hell setting really had me sat.
  6. He literally named the texture pack after himself. what else was supposed to be implied? Seriously - because the people who actually made textures, in recent memory, do not name their texture packs explicitly after themselves (a couple exceptions to this exist, i.e. Foxtex which is made by Foxhead or OTEX with is made by Ola Bjorling and I'm being generous with that one because I don't know if that's the correct etymology). Compilations are usually named after the WAD they're created for and are widely understood to be created from other well-known texture packs, not random stock photos and Artstation profiles. Unfortunately crediting isn't always the best for compilations, sometimes the accreditation is straight up missing, but I've yet to see 32in24 texture compilers just attempt to slap their own names on the pack's title. By the way, this is in the OP: This doesn't sound like someone not trying to attribute work that isn't theirs to themselves. Regardless of what you feel about the citations/crediting of the project, all this is is an absurd amount of questionably licensed, barely-transformed slop that, by the way, is barely in usable sizes (128x85??? who uses that???). Some of the "metal" textures are literally just gradient presets I could shit onto a blank PNG in 2 seconds. I am sensitive to the idea that people who want to help the community don't always make the best stuff. That's okay. What's not okay is lying by omission and refusing to take two seconds to say "huh, yeah, maybe that wasn't a great idea". and then take it down and put it back up with the stuff that's actually original. Frankly, I would suggest that the file not be hosted here, the amount of questionably licensed photos being used here smells like an Adobe take-down waiting to happen.
  7. even the image optimizer is about 75% someone else's work, but at least that was properly attributed, I think :') also no one asked you to spend 300 pounds on assets, Hakros. you can make them for free using Material Maker, you don't even have to have Substance Designer. but I know that requires more than an hour of effort, so you'd be allergic to that. maybe just stick to doing things you know you can put the effort into.
  8. oh duhhhh!! I couldn't for the life of me remember his name, that makes sense though lol
  9. Leon Zawada, who made Return of the Triad (Rise of the Triad for Doom), is one of two developers for Amid Evil. *edit, both of the devs did, thanks kwc!*
  10. We're working on that ;p We also have a lot of modders and mappers who work with the studio who were mappers previously, I won't name all the projects but we have several. I've personally picked up small level design and voice acting roles for Project Absentia. Uhhh anyone from the Supplice team as well, whom include Esselfortium, Jimmy, Dragonfly, Cage, and several other modders/mappers. Dragonfly worked on Prodeus as well. basically, if it's a GZDoom standalone game on Steam, you're pretty safe in assuming that a Doom modder or mapper made one of those as most game devs who are more "traditional" don't pick up Doom mapping as it's a much different workflow. While it's the same mapping workflow as Doom, I want to emphasize it takes a lot more backend coding/finangling to get right.
  11. A lot of VPN providers harvest your data anyways, so it's really not that private. really the only thing they might be useful for is accessing streaming libraries outside your home country, otherwise not that useful for protecting data
  12. UPDATE TIME: - the Chemical Romancer now has a regular max of 1500 bullets, 3000 with backpack, and all ammo boxes now give 250 ammo so you can blast for longer. it'll look janky on the regular status bar but you'll be able to see your count on the lefthand side of the regular HUD. - I've tried to reduce the splash damage a bit on the Chemical Romancer but no guarantees it'll be perfect. - assigned music for the title screen and intermission that isn't just the default (which means this file got even bigger, sorry lol) - added some more ammo boxes on the map - the Three Cheers & Danger Days fight should go a little faster now, I've shrunk the closets so that they empty a bit quicker - added an invuln to the Three Cheers fight and tried to mark the switch a little better File link is in the OP :) thanks to everyone who's played my silly little map so far!

  14. I definitely was slacking on that front but I also didn't want to take forever to make this ;p thanks for playing :D
  15. So, someone posted a joke map that was textured with nothing but Gerard Way pictures. At first I thought, "well that's silly", but then I remembered, "oh hey, I was an emo once upon a time and had a huge crush on that guy!" I've outgrown the crush but still love My Chemical Romance. So, I thought, "why not make something with all the silly fan edits I did as a teenager"? So, I went onto Photobucket, retrieved my edits as that was the only place I could find them, and made something Extremely Silly. Art is the weapon, so your only way to fight back against the demons is to use the Chemical Romancer. I had some help - cheers to Kaapeli47 for fitting his MusicMaker weapon from Insanity Deathmatch to fit this project! Otherwise this was a silly project made mostly as a joke but also to make myself get something out the door in less than a month (this took about two weeks). No difficulty settings, don't ask for them, play with GZDoom 4.11.3, lights and hardware mode on please. Unless there's something super broken I'll be finalizing this fairly soon. Unleash your inner emo and enjoy. <3 Screenshots: File: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QQ1haViL8FmuWjd5SPUJICUE1LpGMVkJ/view?usp=sharing
  16. We do a weekly multiplayer & deathmatch session at the Hellforge Studios discord server, most of our sessions are random rotations w/ Insanity Deathmatch but it's usually fun chaos
  17. I definitely have never really messed with guns IRL so I can't really have an opinion on how realistic guns are, ergo, I don't really care too much in the general scheme of things. there are some examples where there's things that don't make much sense will annoy me. i.e. I saw a gun model with a flashlight attachment clearly in the way of the big-ass scope behind it, like I know at least enough to be annoyed by that sort of thing. but otherwise I'm pretty much w/e, guns in lots of media either don't sound the way they do IRL or look they way they do IRL.
  18. I got inspired by GERARD.WAD. coming soon.
  19. DSDA is more limited in some regards, but it's a good general purpose engine for regular play of non-ZDoom WADs and it's widely used for demo recording. You'd want to use GZDoom if you want to play with most mods though.
  20. depends on what you're attempting to make as your wallpaper. I make Doom maps custom for the Romero Discord banners each season/holiday, which are then screenshotted in-game in a diorama-like fashion. I then go into photoshop and add the logo. see below examples: If you need custom props, etc you can always trawl through some of the resources threads here but pretty much everything I use is done in game, including lighting, with a little enhancement in post.
  21. the kind of thing I would have made if I started mapping at 15 (not derogatory, I had a crush on Gerard Way). nice work.
