  1. I got this off of tigerdirect.ca

    eMachines AMD Athlon XP 3200+ / 1024MB DDR 333 pc2700 / 160GB HDD / DVD+/-RW / Diamond Stealth S90 GeForce FX 5200 Video Card / 128MB / AGP 8X / TV Out & DVI/Windows XP Home
I think it should do the trick for my doom 3 needs.

  2. Hey I'm just wondering I'm also thinking about maybe going with a 2.6 ghz emachine but there all integrated boards so If it has 2 available PCI slots would I be able to put a good PCI video card and use that with the system instead of the shitty one already with the motherboard?.

      they are slower than AGP
if you are doing this for doom3, i would just buy a new main board.

I am not sure but i will assume doom3 needs an AGP based card

some games run like shit on a PCI card vs the same card AGP. example is C&C generals. i used a geforec 2 MX-400 PCI card in my dads computer, and it ran like shit. i then added the same card, the AGP version. it was a big improvment

I had an emachine once.. Now I have a new computer thank god. Once I got the new one, I tore apart the old one and used the pieces for warhammer terrain.

Warhammer's fun. What do u collect?

  3. Hello well I'v decided to go about building my own computer because it will be cheaper anyway these are the parts iv chose so far:
AMD socket A Barebones kit with 350watt power supply K7VME mother board.

    Premium 512MB PC2100 DDR 266MHz Memory.

    AMD Athlon XP3200

    XP 3200 cpu colling fan.

Western Digital 7200 rpm 40gig HD ATA-100 EIDE.
24' harddrive cable rounded IDE supports 2 drives.
Audio Trak Maya 5.1 channel soundcard.
    XFX GeForce FX 5200 (256).

    Ultra memory aluminum coller.

    Ultra 3.5 Harddrive cooling fan.

and thats it for parts in the box so what I'm wondering is will it be a decent system and am i missing any assentials as i dont know much about computers.

That machine will run DOOM 3 very well, as I'm sure you've wondered.

why not get PC 2700 RAM?
i dont think there is any major price difference. you might be able to get the DDR 400.

sounds good, will be a good doom3 system

My parents divorced a few years back and it didn't change anything around me. They're still good friends and help each other out.

Yeah, my parents split up when I was in 10th grade then divorced when I was in 11th grade. Ironicaly, they split up on their 25th anniversary and divorced on their 26th, purely by chance.

I didn't really feel much of a loss, especialy since my dad just moved a couple miles down the road. It was worse when his company moved him to California. Now he's living down there, horribly depressed. I think he had a nervous breakdown over Xmas and is contemplating suicide. :(
