    Male Pattern Speedmapping

Yeah. So, anyway, SargeBaldy is apparently permanently the Speedmapping torchbearer, and he smacked me around with an oar so I'd tell everyone that another one of those speedmapping wad thingies is done, apparently with an island theme. Check it out.

    Speedmapping Fun + DWBS

Sargebaldy let me know via IRC that a new Speedmapping wad has been compiled, themed after Phobos Anomaly, and he says you can get the wad here. EDIT: Uh, this was a mailbag (explaining the shortness of the update), but Kat apparently doesn't read DW before she updates it or something. So, um, here's some, uh, news that shaviro told me about, tee hee. - Cyb

    Wad Station Updates

I just woke up and I have to be at work in 30 minutes, I can't be bothered to come up with an interesting headline. Anyway, Bob Larkin sent us word (repeatedly - sorry Bob) that he's updated the Doom Wad Station with a bevy of items, including two reviews (of 007 - License to Spell Doom and Captain Mancubus) and a bunch of Quake stuff. Check it out.

    GBA Doom II News Roundup

Yee-haw. Git along, lil' doggies. Gamespot has a quick look at a recent version of the game, including 11 screenshots. Nintendophiles interviewed the Associate Producer of Torus Games (who is developing the game), Mick Solomons. For those of you Dutch Doomers, and those otherwise who can read Dutch, there's a bit more information here at InsideGamer GBA, as well as 12 screenshots.

    It's About Freakin' Time

Our very own hosted site Eternity has updated with version 3.31b1 of the Eternity Engine, and it comes in DOS, Windows, and source flavors. This version is dedicated to the victims of 9/11 and also sports a few new features, namely preliminary Heretic support and a method (which makes zero sense to me) for making 3D bridges and 3D railings and the like much easier to make. On a related note, Quasar has a "GPL the Heretic and Hexen Sources" petition here.
  6. Doomworld is very proud to announce that we have a new hosted site, the Doom-related comic strip The Green Pile, done by the very talented Silverwyvern. Head over there and have a chuckle or five at the current strips, featuring the adventures of young Hiss and Scratch. Silverwyvern has a bit of her Doom-related art up, as well.
  7. The, uh...Doom Gods mailed us to tell us...well, here, just look: Just wanted to inform you all that the REU website has had a major over-haul (looks very nice), and that most to all of the information is up-to-date. The forums even work! If you still want to sign up, e-mail us. We even have a weekly newsletter ready for you.

    It's Dark, I'm Scared

Some anonymous person from Team Demise wishes it be known that "a new updated version of Dark7 with fixed errors is now available from the Demise website." Additionally, Dark7: Mission Pack 1 is available for download as well. There are screenshots on the site, if you're really that concerned about your precious bandwidth that you're not sure you want to take ten seconds out of your day to download it. Really. When was the last time you downloaded a WAD, anyway?
  9. A one mister Andy Leaver wrote us to say that he's uploaded some shots of the apparently so-far-monsterless Timelessness, a tribute to the recently broken-up metal band Fear Factory. Check 'em out.

    Not Macross

We (note lack of me) caught word that the EDGE TC Robotech First Gen's site has been updated, with a shiny new forum and a weekly poll. Also recently available are 13 new MIDIs, according to Lobo, who says that work on the TC is continuing and that they expect to have a demo out this summer.
  11. It lives...again. (Yeah, yeah. I'm late. Pfeh.) Brad Spencer wanted all y'all wonderful folks to know he updated his website. We (barely) caught word from Ryback that the "Official UV Demopack for Alien Vendetta" has been released here. Let's see here. This one is most peculiar. Ralph Mayrell mailed us to let us know that Pritch reviewed Archvile46's wad, Doomed Once More. You're welcome. Lastly, Russel^ decided to give XWE some competition 'round these here parts and informed us most graciously of Game File Explorer. Check it out. EDIT: It appears GFE is actually quite older than XWE. Mah bad. >.<

    Quickie

Tommie Quick updated his site, Fatal's Doom Shrine, explaining (like so many others, it seems) why he hasn't updated recently: real life! :gasp: Also, he's been having some access problems, but he says those've been worked out and he has a freshly baked update for us. In said update, he announced a new project, Trust II: The Syndicate, which continues the story from the original Trust, and he also notes that he's continuing progress on his level Temple of Hathdor. I'd just like to note that popups really irritate me.

    Parallel Parking

Nitro dropped us a line to notify us that the Parallel Team site's been updated and redesigned. The new design's looking pretty smooth, but unfortunately, no new Doom news this time around, and nitro gives us the usual excuse: real life. Ah, well. Also, news is that The Parallel Dimension II has been canceled; sad news indeed as the first one was some pretty good stuff. The original Parallel Dimension, as well as Fragfest Initialized are both still available for download.

    Hall Speaks

Apogee Central conducted an interview via IRC with Tom Hall recently, and they've posted the results on their page. Certainly an interesting read, and it provides some insight into what goes on in the big gaming companies, as well as why Hall and Romero left id. Have a look.

    Wild Weasel's Weapons

We caught word that Wild Weasel updated his page with a simple weapons mod for EDGE v1.27, entitled "Weasel's Weapons" which replaces all of the weapons from Doom. Go check it out at the files section of his page.
