Many of us have our own personal preferences, in regards to IWADs, PWADs, and mods. I'm just going to share mine, because this is my blog.
Source Port:
GZDoom 2.0.05 (dunno if there's been any updates since then)
IWADs:
Freedoom (when playing PWADs)
Original Doom IWADs (when playing Zandronum)
mods:
ketchuptest4_modified_noob.pk3
NiceWallBlood.pk3
(this pretty much gives me "Brutal Doom", but it's compatible with most wads that aren't Brutal Doom compatible)
and of course, Brutal Doom
OBLIGE 6.20 (because sometimes I have a laptop, but no internet connection
PWADs:
Going Down
Pirates Doom
Sunlust
Reelism
edit: What is your preferred batch of mods/pwads? (most likely your IWADs will be one or both of what I mentioned)- Show previous comments 2 more

Straightforward and for the most part enjoyable. I remember being right pissed off at a puzzle in the library map though. :P -

It's pretty decent considering when it was made.
I still think Going Down is probably the best megawad I've ever played, though. I tend to think of it as the Doom 2 that id software should have given us. I know Sunlust received the #1 spot this year, but it didn't really feel like it has any particular theme, or anything tying the maps together.
Freedoom is starting to go in a more appropriate direction, which is also pretty cool. In my opinion, while remaining compatible with Doom 1/2, it's actually starting to do some things better than the original source material.

Good day, fellow Doom lovers. Today we are going to make a simple meal out of cheap foodstuffs.
Crispy Minced Pork
Ingredients:
Minced Pork - 1/2 pound
Chicken Egg - 1 egg
Bread Flour
Bacon Lard - 3 spoonfuls
Kikkoman Soy Sauce
Now, to begin, we will be putting the Minced Pork in a bowl. Now we add one scrambled egg, and mix it all together. Then we take a handful of bread flour, and toss it in the bowl. We will again mix it all together.
To cook this, we will use an ordinary frying pan. Add the bacon lard to the pan, and set it to medium heat. When the lard has melted, add your pork mixture to the pan. It doesn't have to resemble a hamburger patty if you don't want it to (you can eat the finished product with your hands).
Fry for 10-15 minutes or so on medium heat, and when it starts to smell and look like it's "done", take out your soy sauce and sprinkle it all over the pork.
Stir, briefly, then put it on a plate.
And viola! ...you now have some meat that doesn't taste like jenkem.- Show previous comments 20 more

New recipe for today...
Hispanic Rarebit Pizza
Ingredients:
Pam
Flour (or Corn) Tortillas
Velveeta
Garlic Powder
Extra Virgin Olive (or Vegetable) Oil (maybe)
Instructions:
Spray a pan with Pam. Turn the heat up to low-medium, then put a tortilla in the pan. When it appears to be getting warm, flip it over. Melt some velveeta in the microwave. Pour velveeta on the tortilla. Add garlic.
Put pizza on a plate.
Eat the pizza. Maybe dip it in some Oil.
Use napkins if you make a mess.
Fun Fact: My likeness was used in the videogame known as Halo. My real name is Master Chef.
