I know you've probably got a million things going on but I noticed you review maps too. I'd love to know what you think about the one that this music was attached to, it was the 2nd map I ever released. Definitely a challenge for me on UV but I was able to 100% it without dying *once* lol, better players seem to struggle less with it than I do. Take it easy, and thanks again for listening! -Dave

Thank you!!! Mixing is tough, lol, it's kind of its own science. Took me a while to get decent at it for sure! -Dave

Lol yeah we were actually pretty well known nationally in the US and even had solid fanbases in other countries. I had an album debut a #1 in the Hard Rock category with Nonpoint, so that was a neat little bonus feather in the cap. -Dave

Glad you like it. If there's a better place to host the music, let me know and I'll make it available there too! -Dave

Hi All. I released a map a couple years ago (welcback.wad) and it got surprisingly positive reviews. But I also wrote a custom mp3 soundtrack for the map and for whatever reason it never occurred to me to release the music for others to use also. I used to be the lead guitar for Nonpoint and Taproot, so I actually have a little experience in this realm, and my recordings actually sound professional. So, here you go!! It's free to download from this link, as long as you input $0 for the price when it asks how much you want to pay. It's basically about 8 minutes of aggressive modern metal sounding stuff, but with a meandering feel so it doesn't get repetitive or too overwhelming. Seems like fitting music for trucking through hell and gibbing everything that moves, though. Enjoy!! (I don't know if this is the correct forum for this, so please relocate this to the appropriate area if need be!) https://cheesebone.bandcamp.com/track/doomed -Dave

Thanks so much for playing this!! Crazy thing, I released this map on 4/3/22, which was also my 40th birthday. Looks like you dropped this review on 4/3/23, which is my 41st birthday. THAT is pretty crazy!! I'm really glad you enjoyed the map!! I know this one took time to get through, and it means a lot to me that you actually made it a point to get it done. I feel really lucky to have had this picked up here! -Dave

Ok, fine. UV Play of Welcback.wad, got about 60% through and then died because I'm dumb and impatient. -
She brought me apicture of a room she wants to make today and it has three Sunshine Boys in it. Lol. I will release the wad through the usual avenues when it's finished :) -Dave

Dude as a kid I laughed at that part. It was the scene where the two kids were in the kitchen with the raptors that damn near made me shit myself right there in the theater. I think I was 11 at the time, lol.

Yes. Yes I do. So my daughter just turned 8 this last weekend. For the last 6 months or so, she's watched me play some Doom wads. I felt that she's mature enough to differentiate this from reality and she already has a good foundation regarding what's right and wrong. She understands that this is a game. Either way - she was really interested in what I was doing when I was building my last map ( welcback.wad ) and she asked if I could help her make one of her own. Of course, I said I would, and so a few days later she comes at me with a hand drawn map of what she wants her wad to be like, lol. But one of my favorite things about this is that she doesn't really try to remember the names of the monsters or other items. She has her own names for them. Now - I'm the kind of person that thinks the Arch-Vile is one of the coolest, most menacing, haunting, and fearsome enemies in a FPS in the history of the genre. This is extra funny to me when I hear her talk about the Arch-Viles. Because she doesn't call them Arch-Viles. She calls them "The Sunshine Boys". I laugh every single time she says it. Do your kids Doom?

I hardly ever read anything, but I think this one's going on the list.

Also, I'm not sure if this post is in the right place, lol. Should it be moved over to the Wad Discussion subforum? Makes no difference to me personally but I already shared this map here a month ago when I finished it, and don't want to clog the forum up with a repeat. -

Nice :) Really, for me, the key to that fight on the harder skill levels is to #1 - don't really stop moving or reverse direction until a good half or more of the enemies are dead. There are tons of medkits and rockets to keep you busy shooting for a while lol. And #2 - know how to grab the invuln that's farthest west on the map, and then know where you should head with it. -

Funny, I looked at those shots last night and thought "man it sure looks like there are a lot of lost souls" lol, I didn't actually place a *single* one in the map. And I think there are only like 9 or 10 Pain Elementals in the entire map, haha. Little bastards are camera hogs. -

Haha, nice :) Yeah my "thing" is to either use some kind of marker or just make a switch not-too-obvious. I never got into the misaligned texture thing and I also never really experimented much with requiring a rocket-jump or archie blast or something like that either. But yeah, if you really really want to find all three secrets, I'd hoped it wouldn't get to a frustrating point. I also thought it was important to make sure the secrets weren't "necessary" but rather a real actual helpful bonus. The BFG secret makes the last half of the map a LOT easier for sure, but I always playtested it without using any secrets.
