This is exactly what I did when I first played the map! It was really cool you are allowed to do this. A lot of the vistas and scenic spots in these levels are downright jaw dropping. I landed on the platform itself and barely took any fall damage, I was fully expecting to gib. I started running up through it and figured its not how its suppose to be done the first time you play but would be great for a second playthrough, so I loaded my save right before it and played the level like normal.

The new episode is really cool. Completed several levels so far and the levels are absolutely huge and gorgeous. The hub you return to after every level with runes you have collected reminds me a lot of Turok 2. Excited to go back and finish it

Yeah, when I played one of the OG expansion packs and switched between the grenade launchers, it was very easy to the changes, and they were very very minimal. Allowing you to set old models in the options was also a nice touch.

Played through Machinegames' first episode and thought it was pretty fun. Got pretty scarce with ammo near the end and then it started really pumping out the Shamblers and Vores. I beat the episode with about 5 health and 2 shotgun shells left and nothing else Started up their second and new episode and the level of detail differences are staggering. Didn't get too far into it yet but it also seems to have new themes, like an industrial theme with oil drums which definitely wasn't in the OG Quake so its all new which is cool. Excited to play the rest.

(Cynicism) "Fortnite Imposters" Announced
wheresthebeef replied to TheMagicMushroomMan's topic in Everything Else
Do you not know why Fortnite is so popular in the first place? They spent many years making a PVE mode with base building similar to Minecraft with a survival wave mode. It came out, didn't do so hot, and a couple staff members threw together a Battle Royale mode in a matter of weeks because of PUBG's meteoric rise in popularity. They released it and it absolutely exploded, and it was absolutely not what the game was originally going to be. This new Among Us mode came out as a surprise, but it's not so surprising that they are doing it in the first place. There's also a rumored separate RPG game mode being made. I'm not into the game, I actually like the art style and really dug the PVE Save The World mode when I played the Alpha or Beta or whatever it was at the time, but otherwise I never got into it. However, a game with constantly changing, in real time, map events and brand new huge game modes all building off the same base is admirable. I actually wish I was into it just for this reason(although if it keeps up, I'll probably start playing it once my son is old enough to play in a couple years) That all said, the things I have actual issues with are taking popular things like dance moves and monetising them with zero royalties going to the original creators. I know its a slippery slope when talking about the morality and legality of stuff like this, my view was always you can't "own" a dance, but if someone is able to market and make money off the specific dance itself, then it all goes down the drain. -
I hope he does Twitch streams again so I can download them with the foresight he wouldn't save them and upload to Youtube again :D I look forward to a new Sigil, I also look forward to the inevitable Quake Sigil (Speaking of, maybe he'll be involved with the rumored Quake remaster thing that's supposed to be announced at Quakecon?)

Enjoying it so far but no move controller support and having to use a dualshock kinda sucks. The shotgun has become very OP, with the only "nerf" being that there's no laser light.

What other "Doom-like" games are out there?
wheresthebeef replied to Dweller Dark's topic in Everything Else
Its criminal how underrated Blood is. Chexquest is, quite literally, a Doom clone with a cereal-themed coat of paint. Also free. Also Doom 64 was just officially released for PC -
I've had this thought ever since the very first delay; I wish they wouldn't have bothered with a current (well, last now) gen and focused solely on PC and next gen. The closer it got to the new console release (and then AFTER the console launch) the more I wished this was true. Its clearly made for higher end hardware so it saddens me they wasted any time making it for old consoles.

Why you gotta remind me of Retroblazer and get me sad all over again :( Poom is great, a fun little gem for the short time it lasts. The palette and custom textures were nice. The buck teethed imps, not so much :P

I knew what to expect leading up to release and I'm happy with how the game is (obviously bugs notwithstanding) It really seems like people expected an open world on the level of GTA while I expected something more akin to the recent Deus Ex games.
