  1. This is exactly what I did when I first played the map! It was really cool you are allowed to do this. A lot of the vistas and scenic spots in these levels are downright jaw dropping. I landed on the platform itself and barely took any fall damage, I was fully expecting to gib. I started running up through it and figured its not how its suppose to be done the first time you play but would be great for a second playthrough, so I loaded my save right before it and played the level like normal.
  2. The new episode is really cool. Completed several levels so far and the levels are absolutely huge and gorgeous. The hub you return to after every level with runes you have collected reminds me a lot of Turok 2. Excited to go back and finish it
  3. Yeah, when I played one of the OG expansion packs and switched between the grenade launchers, it was very easy to the changes, and they were very very minimal. Allowing you to set old models in the options was also a nice touch.
  4. Played through Machinegames' first episode and thought it was pretty fun. Got pretty scarce with ammo near the end and then it started really pumping out the Shamblers and Vores. I beat the episode with about 5 health and 2 shotgun shells left and nothing else Started up their second and new episode and the level of detail differences are staggering. Didn't get too far into it yet but it also seems to have new themes, like an industrial theme with oil drums which definitely wasn't in the OG Quake so its all new which is cool. Excited to play the rest.
  5. Do you not know why Fortnite is so popular in the first place? They spent many years making a PVE mode with base building similar to Minecraft with a survival wave mode. It came out, didn't do so hot, and a couple staff members threw together a Battle Royale mode in a matter of weeks because of PUBG's meteoric rise in popularity. They released it and it absolutely exploded, and it was absolutely not what the game was originally going to be. This new Among Us mode came out as a surprise, but it's not so surprising that they are doing it in the first place. There's also a rumored separate RPG game mode being made. I'm not into the game, I actually like the art style and really dug the PVE Save The World mode when I played the Alpha or Beta or whatever it was at the time, but otherwise I never got into it. However, a game with constantly changing, in real time, map events and brand new huge game modes all building off the same base is admirable. I actually wish I was into it just for this reason(although if it keeps up, I'll probably start playing it once my son is old enough to play in a couple years) That all said, the things I have actual issues with are taking popular things like dance moves and monetising them with zero royalties going to the original creators. I know its a slippery slope when talking about the morality and legality of stuff like this, my view was always you can't "own" a dance, but if someone is able to market and make money off the specific dance itself, then it all goes down the drain.
  6. I hope he does Twitch streams again so I can download them with the foresight he wouldn't save them and upload to Youtube again :D I look forward to a new Sigil, I also look forward to the inevitable Quake Sigil (Speaking of, maybe he'll be involved with the rumored Quake remaster thing that's supposed to be announced at Quakecon?)
  7. I didn't watch too much of it this year, but it really seems like this Realms Deep was a lot more subdued than last years. Also didn't seem like we got updates on some stuff 3DRealms is working on, like Kingpin and Sin Reloaded?
  8. I'll go one step further, I am all for any and everyone that worked on the original Dooms returning to create new content. That includes Tom Hall, but only if its all unfinished.
  9. Enjoying it so far but no move controller support and having to use a dualshock kinda sucks. The shotgun has become very OP, with the only "nerf" being that there's no laser light.
  10. Its criminal how underrated Blood is. Chexquest is, quite literally, a Doom clone with a cereal-themed coat of paint. Also free. Also Doom 64 was just officially released for PC
  11. I've had this thought ever since the very first delay; I wish they wouldn't have bothered with a current (well, last now) gen and focused solely on PC and next gen. The closer it got to the new console release (and then AFTER the console launch) the more I wished this was true. Its clearly made for higher end hardware so it saddens me they wasted any time making it for old consoles.
  12. Why you gotta remind me of Retroblazer and get me sad all over again :( Poom is great, a fun little gem for the short time it lasts. The palette and custom textures were nice. The buck teethed imps, not so much :P
  13. I knew what to expect leading up to release and I'm happy with how the game is (obviously bugs notwithstanding) It really seems like people expected an open world on the level of GTA while I expected something more akin to the recent Deus Ex games.
  14. If I factored in the fact the rocket launcher blows up certain walls and stuff in Duke3D, then that one wins out. Otherwise I like Doom's. The inconsistencies do ruin some of the enjoyment of the Duke RPG. The Devestator has also NEVER felt fun to use for me. Both games will have times where the auto aim can fuck you up and the rocket hits a single pixel and kills you. Overall though, Blood's explosives, any of them, beat out both games.
  15. I can't wait to eventually play it. I'll say, knowing how it ends, it leaves a huge sour taste in my mouth.
  16. Civvie is great, he says a lot of stuff I've thought or said and is always entertaining. I've liked what I've seen of Icarus. I've played quite a few Doom mods just because of his videos being recommended to me. Gman became contrarian for contrarian's sake and I've stopped watching his videos. He'll make the occasional good one here and there (like his highlight review for The Warriors). I laugh when he gave Anthem a bad review, had his video taken down by EA, he then claimed EA was trying to take him down and censor him because of his unfavorable review, then EA came out and said there was zero issue with having a negative review, he just needed to switch the disclaimer at the beginning of the video because he used the wrong one. AFAIK he never apologized or anything for fucking up so I've just seen him as a clown ever since.
  17. I can tell you my favorite Half-Life Survivor
  18. For Cyberpunk to finally fucking release, preferably before Christmas. My family is pretty good about not getting eachother anything and instead just spending time together. None of us are getting younger so more time to spend together would be real nice.
  19. The gameplay and controls are pretty tight. I love having so much direct control. The setting is great and is inspired by things like The Warriors and 80s and 90s movies. There's also a cyberpunk-style backdrop and some of the art is pretty damn good. Some of it is pretty challenging, bordering on cheap at times, and each level has a boss (there's around 20 levels IIRC) once you recognize the patterns though it isn't too much of an issue. The game is so fast paced and feels like an arcade game, so much so they are actually making an arcade cabinet for the game. I just wish there was more of it, whether its new levels, characters, or new modes that alter the already existing levels.
  20. Resident Evil 3 Remake or Ghost of Tsushima, mostly because I haven't played Cyberpunk, Valhalla, Legion, etc etc yet. I'd also throw in Huntdown, a fast paved side scroller, as my GOTY. Its been a fairly light year honestly, what with Covid and most of the games releasing in November/December.
  21. Yeah, I've always seen it as a comical ham. I've also always seen the Pigcop's dead body like below. It wasn't until many years later I realized the "mohawk" was his teeth and its "mouth" was actually its eyes
  22. So this game now releases on my birthday, which is fitting because Im very much looking forward to it and there's another game that released on December 10 that I very much love...
  23. There's nothing a remake could offer that the base game plus a source port couldn't already do, so a remake would be pointless. It's simply too perfect that anything that would be altered in a remake runs the risk of ruining it.
