  1. I'll step up if needed. I got Slade under my belt I could definitely throw this together. Just a biiiiiit busy with school but I can get it done.
  2. [WHAT IS ALPHATIUS?] While some people may say Alphatius is a total conversion for the Doom Engine, it's so much more than that. Using Q-Zandronum, a fork of Zandronum with improved netcode, Alphatius creates a unique arena shooter experience similar to, but far from, Quake 3 Arena and Unreal Tournament. However, where other attempts to revive the genre fall short, Alphatius freshens up the arena shooter scene with new abilities, weapons with Alternate fire modes, a unique ammo system, never-before-seen maps, and more! [TRAILER] [SOME SLIGHTLY OLD GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE] [CONTENT AND FEATURES] 7 Weapons, each with its own Alternate Fire mode, found throughout the maps. A unique loadout system that allows players choose their starting weapon and their abilities. 5 Travel abilities, allowing players to quickly evade attacks, or traverse the map more quickly. 6 Action abilities to aid in combat. These range from decoys, bouncing energy discs, healing zones, forcefields, or even laser cannons! 6 Passive abilities that help encourage players and their unique playstyles. 19 unique maps; 13 deathmatch maps for fraggy fun, and 6 duel maps for some more serious competition. A unique ammo system: Weapon energy recharges after a few seconds of "trigger discipline". 4 unique pickups to aid in battle, most of which revolve around the new mechanics. A built-in tutorial to teach new players how to play, and an additional Firing Range map to test out weapons and abilities. [REVIEWS] "Alphatius is the shooter game I didn't know I needed. The fast paced combat and wide variety of weapons and ability combos lead to unique builds without any particularly unfair matchups." -liljeck, a seasoned Alphatius player "Exhilarating. Alphatius is the ultimate Q-Zandronum mod." -SkeletronMK, a fellow Doom Community member / modder. "Unique take on AFPS, with a wide variety of weapons and abilities, well balanced customization to suit specific playstyles and fast and aggressive gameplay" -HailstormTTV, a respected Quake streamer. 3. Never tried hosting odamex, however, running a Zandronum server on Raspberry Pi is quite easy. I use Ubuntu server with the server ARM build and it works astoundingly well.
  4. If I may suggest some advice: don't let others' skill level with anything, (doom maps, competitive video games, art, etc) discourage you. Focus on improvement. Make a map, then make the next one better. Even though experienced mappers have probably put years into making maps, it's not about being as good as them, its about improving yourself (at least for me it is). And although I've struggled with my own motivation issues with maps recently, I know that in the past year of making CTF maps, my skill level has improved a lot. And knowing that, and hearing it from people I trust, it makes me proud of myself. And one more thing, something that I struggle with personally: Don't do it for others, do it for yourself. I had quit Doom recently because I struggled with pouring my energy into making maps for people who didn't play them. As I type this paragraph, I'm starting to have an epiphany that it may have been a mistake to do that. If you want to make good maps, you'll get there, it just takes time. Just enjoy the process, my dude. And don't let others (or the lack of others) bring you down.
  5. Thank you all for the support and posts so far. I honestly didn't think much of the project at the time, but I'm glad to hear people want to use it. I might just stick with this project :P
  6. Hi! Aura here! I wrote this program called EZDec, which is a Windows application that allows users to create Decorate code for zdoom-based ports with a simple GUI. It's a good start for people who have never made a Doom mod before, but are interested in toying around with it. Right now, its very early in development, but I plan on adding a lot of features to it. Currently, it creates a .pk3 file with your customized weapon in it. Some of the things you can do include: Making a pistol that fires at max speed. Making a shotgun chaingun. Firing an Imp fireball from a BFG Plasma Rifle firing revenant tracers What I plan to add: Fire rings/lines/other shapes of hitscans/projectiles/railguns Drag and drop custom sprites and apply offsets. Make your own projectiles (not just using Doom 2's) Make your own monsters. Support for all doom-engine games based on IWAD selection Randomly generate new weapons. Here's a picture of the GUI GITHUB https://github.com/auratoostronk/EZDec Requires Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 DOWNLOAD https://github.com/auratoostronk/EZDec/releases Please leave me any feedbacks, comments, suggestions down below! If you see any bugs, report it to the Github link above!
