Yeah, that ain't happening anymore. Corporations got other priorities. After all, some suits in Embracer are going "Well he's dead and we aren't going to make any money off this, so fuck him." It'll be fixed when fans fucking reverse-engineer the game.

I guess technically I've beaten PSX Quake II and PC Quake II at least four times. I say "at least" because I genuinely can't remember how many times I beat Quake II on PSX. I know I unlocked every cheat, so that's Easy/Medium/Hard.

It was a Z80 set up with PAL chips and 4 Megabytes (yes, MegaBYTES!) of RAM. Per Lost Media Wiki: Ironically, their license for the Wolf3D engine is precisely what allowed them to legally create Super 3D Noah's Ark on the SNES. The article definitely gets a few things wrong though - obviously, Wolf3D didn't exist until 1992, so the "improved" engine means this must really be around 1993-1994 or so, as opposed to the 1990 that this article claims.

Considering Microsoft back then? Both were just as good.

I mean, Nesticle was an emulator, the system was the NES. And I really, REALLY doubt that'd be possible. Even stuff that was trying to bring stuff like the Wolf3D engine to the NES (i.e; the famous aborted Hellraiser game) was basically using all sorts of extra processors and chips to do the actual crunching and game and then just blasting it to the NES - basically pretty much what the SuperFX would do a few years later.

"That'll get people off of DOS. Hah."

Most people think it's pretty good, though apparently a few players are upset that Iron Maidens aren't in it and are accusing the devs of being "woke" as a result. Which is... fucking absurd, but hey. Surely it can't be that splash damage and aggro on tight, close-quarters maps is a bad idea, nawww.

So What are We doing to celebrate 40k DoomWorld Members?

That means the mods are keeping on top of their game. :) -

How many of 'em were bots, though? -
Looking for old archived versions of programs (Duke3D source ports)
Dark Pulse replied to NY00123's topic in Everything Else
Looked in my hard drive, and it turns out I've got versions of both JFDuke3D as well as JFSW, along with apparently some high-rez packs for the former. Apparently the JFDuke3D release is 9 October 2005, and the JFSW release is also from 9 October 2005, per the releasenotes.html files contained within. Apparently those are on the archives though. -

Nothing stepping out of it wouldn't solve. -
Can create own WAD? I would say that I will be able to get in the way of the day and she's just trying to get through work and work out with the kids and stuff that I can see if I can get a chance to kick off the bench by the hand and then I can get it over there so we need to get you drunk and then I will be there for you to get me a build and I will not be able to get in the way of the day and I think it will be cooler and breezier tomorrow if you want to be a card-carrying Republican in America.

Yeah, I definitely misremembered a bit. I do still think that Pressure Point is a better "you're at the end" than the original Showdown all the same :P
-
Yeah, though whether the port maker wants to go through doing that or if he just wants this to be a proof-of-concept and be done with it is up to him, of course :P
-
Technically, yes. In practice, it's not that simple.

To shorten the quote. Also note that you can easily click the little arrow on the right side to actually go directly to the quote itself, which would dissuade anyone from saying "He said this!" because there's an immediate way to check it.

Slightly green and pissed.

Party over, oops, out of time.

You don't. Wolf3D has no multiplayer.

When I was young, I had serious, controller-launching anger issues. By the time I was 17, it was down to maybe the occasional slam of a mouse. Now, I don't really care about playing too competitively anymore for the most part. I just want to have a good time.

Built map Doom Builder 2 - checkerboard GZ doom when run
Dark Pulse replied to JM_andtheArgonauts's question in Editing Questions
It should actually be kind of difficult to do that, but yes, if you use textures from a WAD, and don't load that WAD as a resource when loading the map, the checkerboard is what is put in its place. You can figure out which textures are missing, I believe there's a map analysis tool that will let you know what is there or not there. -
The technical reason is that you can get a hell of a lot more mileage out of yellows than you can in green. Key to remember (no pun intended) is that Doom was limited to a palette of 256 colors. For those familiar with tinkering of wads, they will be well aware this is stored in PLAYPAL, which contains the colors for every single graphical asset. Yellows got applied for item pickups and so on, but really, the only greens I remember were certain wall textures (the vines), the rad suit glow, slime of course, and small bits like the automap pickup. Plus, I think yellow would stand out a bit more. It's also possible they were still influenced by Wolf3D, where the keys were gold and silver.

Something about all your ex's living there?

Hell yes, those things are great. When I was little, this is how I would eat my Easter chocolate. Mom would get me a hollow rabbit, put it in a Ziploc bag, and bash it up with a hammer, then freeze it. I would then enjoy the rabbit, frozen.

More Night Dive Remasters Announced: Turok 3 and Dark Forces
Dark Pulse replied to Kinsie's topic in Everything Else
Just means someone has to do the hard work of clean-room reverse engineering the thing. It'll be a pain, sure, but it's entirely doable.
