    I've got a fun idea for a deathmatch community project!
     
    It will be for mappers who have never published a deathmatch map before!
     
    This will be a speedmapping session, essentially - mappers will be given 3 hours to complete a DM map from beginning to end.
     
    This will be very free-form, in the sense that only one major rule, (other than the time limit) is to be followed:
     
    Maps that are perfectly symmetrical arenas will not be accepted. Everything else will be fair game - this is a speedmapping session after all.
     
    I've been experimenting w/ speedmapping in my recent mapping streams on Twitch. My most recent deathmatch map was completed in 2 hours 26 minutes.
     
    Here's a VOD of the stream - I'll likely include this as the first map in the project - mapping begins at 0:3:50 and ends at 2:30:08.    :
     
     
     
    I'll make a full project thread some point soon, once I've got things fully figured out, was thinking of 'Accelerated Arenas' as a potential name  - but yeah, that's the gist of it!

    Been steadily chipping away at a huge rage-game-esk custom map for the game frog hop 🐸 where falling loses progress, potentially a lot of it. The map is currently 1200 tiles tall and 200 wide (with the player being about 1x1 tile) bringing it to 3/5 of the planned height! and so far 24x the size of my first frog hop map. Each 200 tile section has its own theme and obstacle setups, such as: switches in the castle, enemy-assisted shenanigans in the forest, platforms/cycles in the cave, "just go for it" -style full speed obstacles in the red velvet cake area, ice on the mountaintop, and nodes in the abyss (those little colored circle-thingies dotted about. Each color does a different thing when interacted with, such as bouncing the player, or allowing the player to use their tongue on the node as a swing or slingshot, etc) and I have other stuff planned for the rest of the things. I've come up with some setups I find fun to execute, though I've also had to heartbreakingly tone quite a few down over the iterations thus far for the pressure involved with actually climbing the thing lol.
     
    Not that anybody here likely has frog hop, but if you do and rage platformers are your thing, I do have a sharable demo:

    A new version of Benben (my music player) will be out at the end of next month.  It's got a bunch of new features for v0.5.0, too.
    Benben is no longer only for VGM files.  Those are still totally supported and always will be, but Benben also now supports: MP3, MP2, MP1, Ogg Vorbis, Opus, FLAC, MIDI, MUS, WAV, Au, and any tracker/module format supported by libxmp.  Essentially it's now a general-purpose music player. FLAC, MIDI, WAV, Au, and of course VGM are all done entirely in native Crystal. MP3/MP2/MP1 is provided via libmpg123 Opus is via libopus Vorbis is via libvorbis The Ogg demuxer is from-scratch and native Crystal All of these can be dumped to WAV/Au in parallel (except WAV/Au, which makes no sense). High quality resampling via a native Crystal port of libsamplerate. Theme support. Seeking (just MP3/MP2/MP1, Wav, Au, and tracker/module files right now). ReplayGain support for the formats that support it. New UI animations. A bunch of internal changes, performance improvements, memory optimizations, and fixes.  Basically it's still fast as heck, doesn't use much RAM, and can run on a Raspberry Pi or PineBook just fine. The release date is July 29th, but you can grab unsupported development AppImages from the repo for now.  Or you know, just build it yourself.
     
    There's a FAQ now as well.
     
    Now that Benben supports MIDI files and has all of the same functionality as midi123, my older midi123 program is now deprecated and won't be updated any longer.  Benben has all the same features (and more) starting with v0.5.0 anyway.

    Gonna aim for 30 or 32 maps - will be my 6th 30+ map DM megaWAD.
     
    I intend for the entirety of this mapset's production to be live-streamed.
     
    This will likely keep me busy for the next 2 months or so - gonna have to then try to squash 30+ different texture packs together, which will be quite the chore. I may have to try to do something similar to how RAMP assembles its megaWADs, have to teach myself that, or find someone in-the-know, though.
     
    I've made 6 WADs successfully in the allotted stream-time I've set up thus far. I start the 7th tomorrow at 4:30 PM (MDT).
     
    So yeah, wanted to give an update on that - I think it will be cool to have a viewable record of a single-mapper megaWAD, from beginning to end.
     
    So far so good - I've been able to whip up a DM map (from beginning to end) in all 6/6 of the streams so far, all using randomly selected texture packs.

    ff7 mod where you can only damage sephiroth with a particular attack and all the enemies drop logic piuzzle style hints which help you narrow it down
     
    and the attack turns out to be vincent's "live-wire" which can't be controlled and every time he lands it, sephiroth casts reflect on vincent so he can't be magically healed type gaming
