For residents of the USA (and, for that matter, all visitors), the Grand Teton National Park is a spectacular area that doesn't get the respect that its neighbor to the North (Yellowstone National Park) gets.

I was in New Mexico this past week, but alas! my stinkin' workload did not permit me any free time to visit Alkali Flat. I did, however, listen to an excellent piece on National Public Radio in which the park's resource program manager being interviewed painted a vivid picture of the scenarios that likely resulted in those footprints. For example, some of the prints suggest that a pair of humans hunted a giant ground sloth, which spun around on one of the humans, making her/him step back. All of this speculation arose from the depth of the heel marks and claw marks. It just shows what scientific exploration, paired with human imagination, can conjure up.

Sapiens is only 416 pages [:wink:] Yes, excellent and entertaining book. Like you, I, too, forget the specifics of books I've read or movies I've watched. So, years later, I can experience them in almost the same manner I did when I first experienced them.

This book spans millennia, which would appear a daunting read, on the face of it. However, Harari writes about history so fluidly that you can easily read a dozen pages without realizing you've done so. His other book, 21 Lessons for the 21st Century is also another good book. In the middle chapters it gets somewhat heavy in the philosophical and technological department. But overall, it's an eye-opener.

Chris Couleur, one of the original TeamTNT members, has been interested in reviving Eternal Doom IV: Return from Oblivion. He and I correspond via email about this, but neither of us has moved forward with anything. Moreover, with the untimely loss of Espi (arguably the leading creative force of the team) and Ty Halderman, the burden now needs to be shouldered by Chris and me. I have been toying with working on the first hub (which Ty and I had envisioned to be a massive space station), but in the past few years I've had less free time and I have been trying to advance other DooM projects.

Yes, I'm with @Murdoch. There's a possibility of finding tools, but virtually no chance of finding remnants of dwellings. Moreover, any dwellings were likely "portable" in nature, as these early humans that migrated to North America (and virtually all humans throughout the world until about 12,000 years ago) were hunter-gatherers (i.e., nomads, as @Murdoch pointed out). Their homes were either designed to be carried from place to place or to be abandoned once the tribe moved on. Curiously, I've been to the White Sands National Park (and even previously, when it was just a National Monument) a few times and had no inkling of such a momentous discovery. Of course, I haven't been to Alkali Flat, which is where the footprints were found. I must try to get there the next time I'm in New Mexico.

Because you mentioned it, I have a bunch of old hardware (several of them in beige, several of them with Zip drives - remember them?) gathering dust. I am planning on checking local computer repair stores to see if they'd be interested in cannibalizing any useful parts. Otherwise, I'll take them to the electronics recycling center that is part of the local landfill. On topic: I've been interested in DooM since it came out in 1993. But I'm a lazy f*ck that occasionally gets flashes of inspiration. Outside of that, I am part of a marauding band of Mongol horsemen.
