  1. Hello! So, yes, we finally did it. To be honest, I was really scared to ask anything from anybody when starting this project, but then I understood how great you guys are! Like, I have no words how good this community is. The release does not mean that this project will be abandoned, I still want to make a few experiments with it. It seems thar Roebloz has spoiled monster infighting for you :) (It's alright though), but I still want to share the video where I revealed it. https://youtu.be/RNH-kKQmy1s Anyways, thank you very much one more time, and see you next time (next post...?)
  2. Hello, my dudes! It's me, again (*insert yaay sounds*). I'm so sorry that this hack has to be dealyed, but I feel like we're almost there. To be honest, I'm not that familiar with Doom's LZSS compression and I'm not really a programmer (I'm just an amateur), so may I ask you guys with some help with it? If you could, please, write me an e-mail to here: slendik75@gmail.com, as notifications from Doomworld don't show up for some reason. I also have accounts on Discord and Telegramm and other services, but I don't feel like sharing those contacts to the public (you know, privacy and stuff). By the way, I've discovered some REALLY interesting stuff in the ROM, which could (or could not) prove that the multiplayer for the 32x version was planned! Anyways, if anybody helps me, then I'd be very thankful and they'll be credited (of course!). Maybe I'll even buy a chocolate bar for them :-) Thanks in advance and have a nice day! P.S. Thanks to Erick194, I can now use a disassembler, so I've changed something. You guys will absolutely love the new improvements in the final release, I promise ;-)
  3. Look: the music depends on a level, and NOT on a MAPxx lump. Using level select loads MAPxx, BUT the intermission has a special code which loads the correct map (MAP23 instead of MAP16 and so on). Maybe I'll try explaining that with a video, although my English is so-so
  4. Yes, yes, but don't confuse the level number and the MAPxx lump. Like, level 17 loads MAP24
  5. In the source code, it's 24. I would LOVE to chage it to 9, I spent hours with HEX editor, but, alas, I had bad luck. But I still didn't give up, he-he-he! As soon as all this university stuff will easen, I'll try again
  6. Well, I honestly don't know that. Maybe it was intended to have less levels, maybe it's an oversight, maybe the array has 24 slots, but the last slots are filled with garbage data
  7. So, about level 24: I'm gonna tell you a story how I see it. Mind you, I'm an amateur, so I might be wrong. The situation is next: there's an array of songs in the code. You may choose ANY song: from Intermission to Sweet Little Dead Bunny for ANY level covered in that array. The ting is: there are 24 maps, and our array only covers MAP00-MAP22 (or 21, I can't remember now). So, on the missing maps there's no music because either it's not in the array or because it reads invalid values after the array which correspond to no song. I may experiment with them, but I'm afraid that it'll screw up something that is not visible yet.
  8. No, the teleport sound is not fixed. Could you please tell me the names of bad songs? I'll try to fix them in my spare time
  9. Hello. Alex here (yes, THAT Alex). So, about that music glitch: that's not me, that's probably my HEX editor being drunk (or maybe I just misclicked somewhere there). In the future, I want to move the ending to the level 8 instead of 15, but I need some time. I have university, and the exams are nearby, so it may take a bit longer. Also, I now know how to edit demos, and there is plenty of fun stuff there: you could toggle IDDQD and give yourself all the weapons - things you couldn't do on the PC version. I may write a converter soon, but there are some differences (for example, on PC you could change your weapon to any number, here you could only "scroll" them) so it may not happen. I wonder if I should release my own version of the "Doom 32X hacking notes" file... Anyways, thank you all for your support and interest, I haven't been this happy for a long time :)
  10. Hello, guys. So, I have decided to fix the infamous Sega 32X port of Doom. Here is the list of things that I have improved: 1) New music order (Refinery plays Intermission, DUNDUNDUN sound when the game starts, the credits play Victory theme) 2) Font is now red and not pink 3) A (somewhat) improved E1M1 theme. 5) Health and armor bonuses now give 1 hp instead of 2, like in the PC version Now, for the things that I plan to do: 1) Improve all (or most) of the music tracks 2) Import maps from the PC version (maybe even textures if it's possible) 3) Fix several things (like skullkeys displaying, I believe that it is possible) 4) Fix that damn teleport sound 5) Something else, probably (maybe, a better palette for Doomguy face?) Here is my video: https://youtu.be/od7JEI3GIf8 Please note that this is NOT A FINAL VERSION! Also, please forgive my framerate, as my computer is very-very old and it just can't handle Fusion and Bandicam at the same time. I will upload a patch after I do a few more things. P.S. If someone has already fixed 32X Doom, then please, tell me about it (at least I didn't find it)
