  1. Hypothetically, If I were given the opportunity to move out of America for good, should I do it? I know of all the bad things in the USA (expensive healthcare, inflation, education system, etc.) and I'm wondering if it's worth it to leave everything behind.

Sorry if this is a weird question, I don't know who else to talk to about this.

  2. Mascot horror is a game genre most known for its, well, mascots. More specifically, icons of childhood nostalgia (animatronic, puppets, cartoons, etc.) that have been turned evil by various means. They usually take place in some dilapidated place associated with said icon (pizzeria, cartoon studio, toy factory, etc.) which also contains some uber-dark secret. Oh yeah, and they're ungodly popular with kids. The most popular examples are Five Nights At Freddy's, Poppy Playtime, and Garten of Banban. I'm curious to hear what you think.
  3. Schwarzerblitz. A free fighting game I found while searching for game engines.
  4. As of recently, the developer has made it completely free! https://mangledeyestudios.itch.io/dark-salvation
  5. This is what hyper-consumerism does to a person.
  6. Is there a playable build of this? By the looks of things, it's only spritework.
  7. Make the pistol able to be tap-fired, similar to the Half-Life 2 one.
  8. A lot of video games (usually older ones) tend to get a lot wrong when depicting firearms, both real-world and fictional. They'll have ejection ports on the wrong side, have the player cock the gun every time they reload, or not even cock it at all. Maybe one fictional firearm is mostly functional with just one part that doesn't work, and then there's another that defies all understanding of how guns work (TF2's scattergun comes to mind). Does any of this sort of stuff bother you at all?
  9. It makes the entire site look like Facebook.
  10. When you're playing a first-person shooter, do you prefer the weapon in the center of the screen (like Doom & Quake) or in the right/left of the screen (like most FPSs out there)?
  11. Let's say that Id decides to have another game studio develop the next Doom game, with them as supervisors, similar to how they did with Quake 4 and Return To Castle Wolfenstein. Which developer do you think would be best for the job?
  12. Flashpoint Archive. It allows you to play a wide variety of web games (especially Flash games).
  13. Grappling Hook from 2009, a first-person puzzle-platformer. I don't know if it counts as a shooter, but what the hell. The reviews for it often compare it to Portal. https://ghook.speedrungames.com/
  14. Reading the Doom Awards, I felt like I was reading a grocery list instead of a celebration of talented modders. The MyHouse entry, for example, feels so hollow, quickly listing off its praises rather than explain them in detail. Knowing that it's AI, I'm not surprised.
  15. Abuse (1996), a side-scroller shooter where you fight not-xenomorphs in a prison filled with deadly traps.
  16. Doomed Again was a highly ambitious remake of Doom for the sourceport EDGE, using janky 3D models and promising a boatload of new features. The website was last updated in December 2009. Footage still exists of this mod. And its website can be found on the Wayback Machine:https://web.archive.org/web/20201016225401/https://sites.google.com/site/doomedagain/da_home In a similar vein, Doom: The Resurrection was a so-called "extension of the Doom universe" using the Doomsday engine. The only remnant of this mod is its ModDB page, showcasing a bunch of weapon models:https://www.moddb.com/mods/doom-the-resurrection
  17. Red Planet: A top-down shooter set on a red planet where you shoot aliens. Also Rick Astley references. Ectology: A semi-realistic take on ghost hunting. You catch ghosts at various locations before the sun comes up. You do this with an "ectotron" which you have to time in order to catch the ghost, otherwise you kill the ghost. Planet Wars: You are a space marine and you shoot headcrabs and mini-gonarchs. I love this game for its weapon customization.
  18. TECNO: The Base, a 2008 game where you shoot robots, solve puzzles, use mechs, and other stuff.
