maps that broke you, for better or for worse!
Skronkidonk replied to fruity lerlups's topic in Doom General
"Refueling Base" and "Suburbs" were probably the first two maps that stumped me when playing Doom. "Fire and Ice" is definitely one that took me a while to beat. I honestly always found "Go F*ck yourself" to be harder than "God Machine" but both of them definitely destroyed me". "Dark Dome" from Alien Vendetta is not only great but also pretty insane and it took me a while to beat that one. Also "Stench of Evil" was pretty brutal, a 30 minute map that doesn't give up. How can we talk about maps that broke us without talking about Scythe II? "Whispering Winds", "Gaia's Temple", "Forgotten City", and" Afterlife II". Insanely beautiful and insanely rude maps for sure. Some honorable mentions are Hell Revealed 1 & 2 and Sunder... Too many maps to name. But to name one specifically "Beyond the Sea", one of the few maps in Doom that I genuinely dislike. -
On steam the top game would be Geometry Dash with 932 hours. (I think I put in another 400 hours on my brothers account) Doom is definitely gonna be a game I've put a lot of time in. I wouldn't be surprised if its close to the 1000 mark. Some of the older Call of Duties like Black ops 1, 2 and Modern Warfare probably have a good chunk of time. Lastly Tokyo Xtreme Racer 0 ... I probably have a RIDICULOUS amount of time spent in that game. I've been playing it consistently since I was about 5 and I'm 18 now. Ball park around 4-5k. I am not proud to admit some of these numbers.

I remember watching my dad play games a lot whenever I was younger and for a while I remember him playing Doom on the Xbox 360. I remember whenever I would watch my dad play it, being fascinated by the lack of jumping and vertical looking and also how grainy and unique the game looked compared to games I grew up with. I was too scared to get very far in the game but eventually me and my friend Co-op the game and it left me wanting more. So I bought Doom 2 and I still wanted more. A few years go by and for whatever reason my brother had Final Doom on his steam account. I tried it and got my ass kicked because I loaded up Plutonia and I was using the arrow keys and control to shoot. Around the same time I looked up the hardest Doom map on youtube with my dad and I found "Dark Dome" in Alien Vendetta. Then I realized that Doom had a fan made map scene, and eventually whenever I got my own computer I played Final Doom and started playing all of these amazing WADS people have made.

I genuinely think every doom monster is amazing and each one has its place in the game. I personally think the pain elemental is amazing, it can really change a fights entire dynamic, whether you get up in its face to prevent it from releasing its minions, or you try and peekaboo shoot it so it doesn't shoot any lost souls. Anyways, I guess my least favorite enemy would be the former human, although I really like him in early levels, its kind of filler in mid to late levels.

what do you think these three do together in their freetime?

They have ordinary lives and Doom is their full time job. -
I really enjoy playing Hell Revealed and EARLY Hell Revealed ll maps. Objectively they are not the best but I find the chunky empty rooms with hoards of monsters to be pretty relaxing when I'm having a stressed day.

no no no... he's on to something here.

I have barely started on my map so I will be leaving. Sorry to not complete my map in time and waste your time. I wish the best for this project :)

I also agree with this. Habitat is NOT the best map in TNT. But its not the worst... I personally find the sewage section to be kinda neat, and the little silver/shawn area is pretty cool too. Now yes, the outside area with the blue key behind a mid texture is ugly and stupid, but.... I still think its a neat map. Also the secrets in that map are pretty fun to find :)

I ask myself this question everyday. I think its just a different kind of Doom that doesn't appeal to a lot of people. Plutonia appeals to a lot of people (now) because of its difficulty and simple yet clean visuals. I personally find TNT to be lots of fun because its like you are in "realistic" locations and each map is their own adventure. In Plutonia the first map is named "Congo" and then map three is named "Aztec" (not saying that makes plutonia bad) Also I enjoy mowing down lots of hitscan similar to Doom's E1 which early TNT has a lot of.

Literally WALKING into a fireball. I have a bad habit of getting overzealous while playing Doom and I'll try to fight 30 demons at once, which ultimately causes me to die since I'm running around like a maniac and I eventually just walk into a stray imp/caco fire ball.

What is the funniest thing you have read online?
Skronkidonk replied to coderamen's topic in Everything Else
As a local ricer I find this hilarious and sad Someone in a Chevy Equinox smoked me in my civic, I was laughing because it was fun but also crying inside because I lost to a soccer mom SUV. -
I recommend trying out Grove and Jade Earth! That's all I can think about right now. The rest of the maps that do come to mind are slaughter lol.
