The 10x10 Project -cl9 [/idgames]

Now on /idgames! https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/0-9/10x10 -
Lovely little puzzle, I enjoyed this. Unorthodox DOOM maps are always some of my favorite experiences with the game. I played through this really quick though, total play time across just two tries was about four minutes. This would be more effective as a project accompanied by at least a few other short puzzle maps, I think you could have something more memorable and special here. Bonus points if the maps have a similar gimmick a la Cyberdreams or Archvile-Jump. I'll put it this way, I'm not likely to replay a two-minute map or ever think about it again, but I'd be very likely to revisit a small set of two-minute maps from time to time.

Pocket Slaughter (32-map MBF21 megawad)
lunchlunch replied to SCF's topic in WAD Releases & Development
In the Super Mario World kaizo community, there's a beginner hack called Learn 2 Kaizo. Pocket Slaughter fills exactly that same role for DOOM, bitesized maps that teach concepts one will need to tackle harder mapsets. Fantastic stuff. -
Nah, it wasn't just that it's GZDOOM, the project is a complete mess, that's why there was drama all month. You can't use time restraint as an excuse, you guys used an entire two months for the project where every other DBP was made in only one month.

I was playing through on UV but couldn't get past the first cyber fight, I found the UV fights to be inconsistent but I'm not a DOOM god. So I dropped down to HMP and had no issues blowing through the map and I enjoyed my time with it a lot more, it's very fun and pretty. Every setpiece is distinctive in both terms of gameplay and visuals and offers a good range of different playstyles. I played the Dimensions fight like crossing the linedefs would kill me and was surprised to find afterwards that they didn't. I haven't played through Magnolia (I have watched playthroughs) but from my experience I thought this map had more in common with Fractured Worlds than it did with Ribbiks. For example I think avoiding linear progression in future maps would give a better Ribbiks impression. Great stuff though.

They aren't misaligned, everyone thinks so and it's kind of annoying, but I can assure you there's not a single linedef in the WAD that's not aligned precisely how I wanted. I've adjusted the imp teleporting closet, hopefully it's no longer an issue. -

@Scotty Never thought my favorite mappers would play this, I'm stoked. Sunder was a huge influence so good catch on that. I think I have to alter that secret yellow key fight, that cyberdemon at the back is overkill. I'd totally take a custom HUD! -
