  1. Stick to browser Doom until you get your own computer, OP. Then you can muck around with its settings and different source ports all you want.
  2. Santa confused us demon slayers with demon worshippers and broke our forum on Chrimbus Day. We've been through this before, though I hope a new solution can be found so we don't experience this again for a third time or more down the line.
  3. Eh eh, Ice cube very useful. Can into drink for day of hot, keeps wet cool. Yum yum.
  4. In the spirit of the topic, I'm holding out hope that Bass Slapper will pick up his Corridor 666 project at some point. It looked really neat.
  5. I was hoping that things might be different this time around. I wanted to be optimistic for a change in the face of Embracer buying up all these developers, but my cynicism wins out yet again as corpos continue to chew up our favourite game studios and spit out their bones. Now I'm starting to feel wary again about Atari acquiring Nightdive... A little silver-lining though: Combustion's dev says they're undeterred regarding 3D Realms pulling funding.
  6. Sorry to necrobump this old thread, but the issue appears to be plaguing DW once again with the Unread Content page no longer updating along with newer posts and status updates no longer being shown on people's personal pages. Invision must've updated the forum software again, creating the same bug around Christmas day as the most current post available to see on UC is dated December 25th. Hopefully, Ling is on the case but I wanted to highlight it regardless in case others are experiencing a similar issue but are unsure of what the heck is going on.
  7. @Mr795 Sorry if my comments are a little repetitive, but I cannot stress enough the importance of taking your time to really put in the mileage so you can have what I believe to be a really finished product. You're on the right path, you just need to stop rushing and take the time you need to really flesh out a concept.
  8. Bio's Rule of Thumb for Doom Maps: The prettier it is, the nastier it is. Gorgeous, spicy and downright infuriating at times, but is a solid experience all around. Nice work, Dashie!
  9. @Mr795 Unfortunately, @NiGHTS108 I am not the twisted freak for the job regarding your pisstake of a map, mate. What were you thinking?! x^D
  10. 2023 was a good year for Doom and a good year for me personally. Wishing you all an eventful and fulfilling 2024!
  11. Happy New Year, Doomworld!

I drew this fella for the Polandball Discord server, but he can hang out here for the occasion too.

  12. You promise to credit me this time? ;^) I'm on holiday now until January 8th, so I should have some time to help out again.
  13. That certainly explains your post history.
  14. The Roastmaster General and his motley crew of scallywags return with another off-kilter surprise to close out the year.
  15. "Oh gosh darn it, you guys. Why do you have to exercise your right to have an opinion on a thing?" How are we supposedly the offended party here with subtext like that? I love this kind of jump to a conclusion that suggests we're somehow acting emotionally and that the mere existence of your awards is somehow "offensive", rather than the idea that perhaps we're just talking about it out of curiosity's sake. Believe it or not, not everyone is frothing mad when they criticise or disagree with you. Okay, then why did you bother logging in and writing this post in the first place? You would've been better off focusing on fixing up your awards project by firing your AI, actually writing the reviews and sprucing up the website in the time it took you to write this embarrassing diatribe.
  16. Happy Chrimbo, guys!

  17. Oh cool, now I have an excuse to talk about this. A few months ago I had been growing a little nostalgic for Raptor. It was one of the first games I played a lot back in the MS-DOS days after Doom and wanted to revisit it. I found that the two current ports of the game on Steam aren't terribly well received, but learned from one review that the developer Scott Host had crowd-funded his pursuit to put out a new remaster of the game. I quickly followed him on Twitter where I found out about him also remastering DemonStar to help create some buzz about the Raptor remaster. I also watched Host stream some last-minute dev stuff over on YouTube and got to interact with him a little. While I'd been waiting for DemonStar to come out, I've been trying out other SHMUPs over on Steam and really acquaint myself with the genre. I'm pretty bad at them, honestly but still find them pretty fun. I wish Host all the best with finishing up DemonStar and highly anticipate the return of Raptor!
  18. They were even too lazy to edit out the little floating crypto-coins on the homepage. :^P
  19. Are they though? I don't recall any other studio that they've done this to so far. This is the first I've heard of them doing literally anything beyond acquiring studios. Hell, we only just really learnt of Embracer's existence a year or so ago.
  20. I can't think of a single hypothetical scenario where someone would get those two things confused with one another, Rudy. Incidentally, "ML" in this context are initials, not an acronym.
  21. Sounds like 3DR's future is pretty grim. It'd be a sizeable blow to the indie scene if they folded entirely as losing them would mean losing Realms Deep, which was a really great publicity thing for upcoming games. If the worst comes to pass, I can only hope someone picks up that torch and carries it onward in some similar fashion.
  22. You do have a point there, Dash. Fortunately, that shit will likely die off in a similar fashion to Cryptocurrency and NFTs. The memery that is, I'm sure there's some actual useful benefits to the generative AI in some capacity or another. All the techbro con-artists will just quickly jump onto the next stupid "THIS IS THE FUTURE!" trend.
