  1. I played around with doom builder 2 in 2016, around the time when doom 2016 came out. Tried to do an DOOM 1 vanilla map with hellish theme. But the map was chaotic and not a real doom map. Don't know if I should pickup that map and finish it somehow.
  2. Winter. In Munich, Germany we have barely any snow each year. Sometimes it's snowy for 1 - 2 weeks and that's it. And then the whole season is just gray, what is depressing. And I hate it that night starts so early. Already at 4 - 5 pm in December. In summer it's hot, but at least you can go outside and try to do something cooking down. I have only heard, that California and Arizona are so hot, that people are moving from there.
  3. Without direct comparison to the PC version of 2016, I was very impressed by the switch port. It felt like, it is the PC version, just blurry. Later I saw I was wrong, but this shows how impressive the switch port is. I play sometimes on the switch the multiplayer against bots.
  4. Come Get Some is already hard for me in Duke3D. At least when I tried the Winter expansion. Mega Man 2 is possible, when you are into it. At least that's what I remember.
  5. Ahoy mentioned it already in his DOOM video from 2015 or so. But otherwise I would not know about this game.
  6. I play all the time with the original models and all the enhancements turned off. But only, because I wanted the vanilla experience, not any performance boost. I think I know what you mean, the game has 60 fps, but can stutter from time to time, occasionally. But I am playing mostly online with a high ping, so could be that the stutters came from bad connection. If you ask me playing Quake on the Switch is VERY enjoyable. I have played it on the Switch for over 90 hours. I did play the original campaigns on PC, but I lurked into Dimension of the Machine on the Switch. Saw there, that there as a very aggressive resolution reduction in the hub area. So I don't know if rather that system starts to work before the game begins to stutter. I wanted to turn on the enhancements for a long time, but I always forget and enjoy the original models anyway.
  7. I am some days older than Doom. Born in December 1993. So I'm 30 now.
  8. I think I know what you mean. I think I observed this in multiplayer on the switch as well. But I'm not sure if it's possible to screenshot this "effect"? Never tried that. But then, when I played it last time, I did not observe this blurry movement. Strange. I observed it very well on DM8, using the air lift....
  9. It has bad combat, which is not fun. I played through DMC2 in beginning of 2019. Maybe that's the reason, why I did not finish DMC3 after that. I was a little bit burned out on the series at this point. For me the DMC3 combat was challenging, but also fun.
  10. Digital Foundry has released their in-depth review about the Dark Forces remaster: I wonder, that they prefer the remaster over TFE, but I think this could be because the remaster brings new/updated assets, as textures etc.? I would like to know how the MIDI soundtrack is handled in TFE. Is it like in the original DOS version under DOSBox or was there a similar approach taken like in the remaster? Also, are the micro stutter also present in TFE, based on tickrates? In general I would have liked that Digital Foundry had showed more comparisons with TFE. I know, I could launch TFE myself to find answers to my questions, but I thought it would be also nice to give new life to this thread. Also I have not so much time to turn on my PC currently. Anyway congrats for this great source port, the collaboration with Nightdive and for the great work on a new editor. I was always sad to see, when modding for an old game became almost forgotten. I hope the old websites hosting Dark Forces mods get never lost.
  11. If you don't plan through gog galaxy, shouldn't it have no achievements then? Thought this is only available through gog galaxy?
  12. Thank you for sharing this! Stupid question: Is quaddicted bugged or dead? Somehow the last maps were released in September 2023. Did something happen?
  13. I have both expansions still on my list. Thanks for reminding, that I should play them some day. "Unfortunately", currently I am enjoying the new Prince of Persia game. I only played Doom 4 / 2016, not Eternal, but it would be awesome to see more of Quake 1's artdesign in a modern light. This were my thoughts when I played Quake 1 in 2022 for the very first time. There was no sequel, which had this artdesign and spirit. Coming back to that would be awesome in my opinion.
  14. A Quake Reboot or whatever in the manner of DOOM 2016 by Machine Games, focusing on Quake I asthetics, but also acknowledging and considering Quake II and 4, would be neat.
  15. Ah okay, as I thought. :) But yeah seems unrelevant. It is still interesting how far PS1 Doom and Doom 64 pushed the engine further.
