Requiem in D'emon Major - a 1 Boom format map.

Really fun and challenging map, I am guessing it was make with freelook into consideration as that would make the toxic rooms a lot easier. I played on prboom with some boom compatibility (and some pretty vanilla settings) I have however been able to softlock myself, after getting the red keycard and going through the door that leads to the caco + arachno fight once, I turned back after hitting the close door trigger so the door remained closed. Ive also found 2 stuck pinkies at the end of the hellish pit (see spoiler), they seem to be stuck in each other. You also hid the secrets really well (or I am really blind) as I didn't even find 1 secret. Anyway really enjoyed the map, and the name... Well I wish I had come up with that one ;D -
I tested on prBoom-plus (complevel 9) I generally experienced the same issues as TeK. But also had the chaingunnner/ pinky room not open up after grabbing the chaingun. After I loked through the map in doombuilder: - The lift not working is most likely because it is tagged with sector tag 0 (which can have interesting results on some source ports, in this case it either lowers the whole map really fast or doesn't do anything) - The chaingunner + pinkies ambush is tagged as floor lower to lowest adjacent floor, which doesnt lower, because the floor is already at the lowest point. (it should be the ceiling that raises) Overall good map imo, the start was hecktick but enjoyable, I did have a bit to much plasma ammo. Maybe trade some in for rockets (as I missed those)?

Yeah, idk wat triggerd it (but I mean its windows defender who knows how that works, plus the only setting is to ignore files temporarily or to turn it of for an hour or so). I wouldnt know how a wad file could contain a virus in the first place, but I did find it strange that it triggered anyway...

Anyway, played the map and suffice to say, my pc is fine ;D I tested in prBoom on ultra-violence , and there were no compatibility problems. Overall feedback: - The map would fit right in with plenty of early megawad maps that I have played. - I liked the colourcoding on the doors, it is unique and it does the job it is supposed to do pretty well. - The texturing was pretty good, but I did notice the doortracks were not unpegged. - I didn't find a way of getting the blue armour secret. I checked in slade and the platform does't seem to lower and parkouring seemed impossible? - The imp ambush was pretty fun, though personally I would trigger it by walking over a linedef rather than using a switch. (but both options are fine) - I would have appreciated a switch to reveal a teleporter that takes you back to the start after the imp room. So overall, the map was balanced really well and it was fun to play.

Could be, it is weird that it tripped. My bet would be that windows scanned the file found a few bytes that just happened to mach a strain of a virus (totally accidentally) and detected it as that virus.

So, I would like to play the map. But my windows defender seems to be tripping over the downloaded zip file? I ran it through VirusTotal and that doesnt seem to report anything. So I dont think it contains a virus something like that. I am going to plat it now, (and hope I don't get infected)

Alright, first (dont mind the edit) version of map 3. I might have made the level a little harder than the original. Let me know if there are any issues I guess. there is still a visual bug in one of the corners in the map room (only on crispy doom). And I dont really know what is causing it. tnt-map03-from_memory.zip

I really liked the map... It somehow reminded me of myself as a child playing 'open world' games, mindlessly roaming around finding secrets and just messing about. I bet I would have absolutely loved this back then. The map reminded me about dreaming about things to do in those sort of games, only to jump onto the computer and get disappointed that imagination was sadly not reality. Besides that the architecture in the map looked very good, every area was unique so that I always know where I was. Meaning that navigating was surprisingly actually, well done. While the map does definitely not suffer from not having music, it might be nice to have something play quietly in the background. Or maybe that would ruin the feeling of loneliness that map has. I am not certain about that, but you could try it out. As I said as a kid I would have loved this and playing this made me very nostalgic about the days where I could play a map like this for weeks straight and only be satisfied when I had explored every nook and cranny. But alas sadly those times have past, while I know I have not seen everything. I am still very satisfied. Overall an amazing experience that does fit the "spiritual experience". Very well done, the map looked amazing and played very interestingly. For those who have not tried I would try it.

Oh, dont worry I have about 10 empty cd-rw's so that is not a problem really. And floppies would be more difficult since I dont have a floppy drive on this pc. About usb, well the pc does have a usb port or 2, I should maybe go search for win95 usb1/2 drivers.

Sounds interesting I have a windows 95 pc with a pentium 4. So I am going to try and make a map. I will just have to copy the wad onto a cd every time in order to play, but I guess it would be worth it.
