Hi guys, I am interested in creating a standalone game with the Doom engine. I've seen people using the GZDoom engine to create their own custom standalone game, how can I do something similar? If you couldn't tell, I am not too familiar with the technical side of the Doom Engine, I only have experience making games with the Unity engine. If you guys know what I should do, please let me know, thanks!

Wow thanks for the explanation! I used to use hardware accelerated but I wanna try a different render mode because Hardware Accelerated makes levels like Doom 2's Map02 Underhalls too dark, especially in the part where you get the blue key, it's so dark that it's nearly impossible to see, maybe it's an issue with my monitor. Anyway, thank you for the answer!

What's the difference between Software Mode and True Colour SW Mode in GZDoom? And which one should I use? I heard that True Colour SW Mode has more than 256 colours or something, but I don't understand what that means? What are the colours for the regular software mode then? Any answers will be appreciated, Thanks.

I haven't really played much Doom mods or map packs, any wads should I try? (Apart from HDoom.)

Didn't work, and I've already turned off texture filtering before posting.

I have a question regarding my HUD in GZDoom, the HUD background art looks zoomed in and blurry, which seems different to other source ports. If possible, can you guys tell me how to fix the GZDoom HUD? I am using the latest version. Texture filtering just got turned off, but it didn't fix the HUD background art being ugly. What my HUD looks like: What I want it to look like:

Exactly. I like to play Doom without mods and in the most vanilla way possible too, but I wouldn't go out and antagonise anyone who enjoys playing with gameplay-altering mods.

I just wanna throw this out there: On the Doom Official Discord, there is a HARDCORE PURIST who would go out of his way to insult other people who enjoys Brutal Doom or other gameplay-altering mod. If you EVEN MENTION the word "Brutal Doom" in the Doom Discord, this guy will immediately come out and insult you. He will always say "Brutal Doom is a disappointing piece of trash, and you have really bad taste if you play it." And if you DARE to defend Brutal Doom, he will spend a lot of time arguing with you about how Brutal Doom is trash and how your opinion is invalid. He keeps uses Discord as an excuse for being an asshole. If you call him out, he will say "This is Discord so therefore I have the right to talk shit about people I don't agree with". This guy is also a huge hypocrite, his arguments are very flawed and he is blind to his nonsense. I want to clarify that it's fine if you dislike Brutal Doom, you are free to talk about your thoughts about the mod, but DO NOT insult the people who enjoy the mod. It's just really annoying to see whenever someone mentions Brutal Doom in the chat, this guy will just come out and argue with everyone who disagrees with him.

How can I make it so that I lose all of my weapons when I die, instead of loading to the last save when I die? I use GZDoom for all of the doom games, when I play Final Doom, the level resets when I die and I lose my weapons, but on Doom 2, it loads my latest save instead of resetting the level. The settings I use for both games are the same, can anyone tell me how to fix this? Thanks!

But I also have autosave on for Final Doom, but when I die in Final Doom, my weapons will still be gone, like the way it should be.

I just found out that for some reason, on Doom 2 Hell on Earth, my weapons stay in my inventory after I die. If I remember correctly, the all of my weapons except the pistol should be gone if I die. I use GZDoom to play all of the classic Doom games, I tried replicating this problem in Final Doom, but it seems like this problem is only present in Doom 2. Again, I use GZDoom to play all of the classic Doom games and I did not remember turning on extra features so I don't know why this is happening, any help to fix this will be appreciated.

Sorry, didn't know about that.

Stupid question but is it okay to install GZDoom on the same hard drive multiple times? I have GZDoom installed for Final Doom, but I also want to install GZDoom separately again for Master Levels for Doom 2. I want to have different settings for them, but wouldn't the config files overlap or something? Please let me know, thanks!
