Did the Slayer become Doomguy again? [Spoilers]
Mraka replied to Duke of Pathoris's topic in Doom Eternal
That makes sense. I feel like we should still put respect on Doomguy's name. Pretty sure he was too angry to die even before becoming The Slayer. But that's just my own opinion. And as OP said, the subtitle did say "Doomguy" instead of something like "Doomslayer", "Slayer" or something like that. -

If Davoth's death is the reason behind The Slayer collapsing, why didn't everything else do the same? The realms, the Maykr's, Sentinels etc. -
There are those who like it, those who dismiss it, those who dislike it. I personally enjoy BD, the bigger gun selection and glory kills are very satisfying. Although i have heard people say it strays too far from the Doom formula or it tries too hard to be edgy due to the insane amounts of blood and gore. Everyone has their own opinion, however i was under the impression that's why we're here, for the blood and gore?

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate section to ask, but might as well try. I'm looking for a Doom mod that has a sort of "primitive" feel to it, if that makes sense. Spears, bows and early swords. I know of the wad GMOTA(Go Medieval On Their Asses), and it's beautiful, but not quite what I'm looking for. If ARK met Doom, is the right way to describe it i believe. Any other WAD or mod suggestion is appreciated, and feel free to ask for suggestions as well.

Thank you for sharing kinsman, that was legit amazing. And i seriously hope you get better, mental health is definitely something not taken lightly. I advise training and meditation, but i am by no means a coach, you do you, what works for me may not work for you. I actually love your ideas and would love to play your maps and mods, if possible, please hit me up whenever you create something or want something tested, I'm always down. I feel there are plenty of us who can relate to having ancient PC's, i mean have you seen the price of gaming laptops and computers today?

I couldn't have said it better myself. Call me a Doom addict, but if a game allows you to change it to your liking, that's a game I'll be playing for many more years to come. And with all the mods out there, games like cod are very easy to emulate in Doom. Get yourself some weapon mods, a map pack and maybe reskin the enemies and you're done. But most of all, no game can rip and tear like Doom did and can.

I guess this is more specifically directed at the hardcore fans, however more casual fans are obviously welcome. Although i am not sure if this has been asked before. What made you like Doom enough that you'd invest in a forum, play more than one game, or maybe buy the merchandise and so on? With many sharing their experiences i figure i should share mine. My exposure to Doom was very casual, i had a GBA and had the GBA Doom port. Later on i discovered Doom 64 for the PC and loved it, but that's about it for a while, casually playing the ports simply because emulators and roms are easy to come by, and because dead demons go brr. I think what kick started my love and appreciation for the series and community is when i found out about Brutal Doom, and surprisingly it could run on my toaster. That was also a rough time period for me, so all i did was put on my headphones and blast music while playing. After that i was pretty much hooked. It was/is sort of my go to after a rough day. Years later and here i am, a total Doom fan and even learning how to mod Doom. For a community full of people who rip and tear, they treat you like family. I hope to give something back to this community that continues to give so much.

I've had the pleasure of playing Doom on almost any device. Doom 2016 for ps4. Doom 1 and 2 on PC, GBA, SNES, Sega 32X albeit only for a few minutes, and even on a calculator.(Who hasn't) Doom 64 and Doom 3 + Resurrection of Evil on PC

Does anyone unironically use I'm Too Young To Die
Mraka replied to LudicrousFPS's topic in Doom General
Nightmare all the way. Not because I'm good, but because nightmare mode feels like you've been literally thrown in there instead of playing as a super soldier. I will occasionally cheat by spawning marines to help, like with Sunder. How you are even expected to beat Sunder without a battalion of marines is beyond me -
Oh i know that, but to be fair, Doomguy was never "normal", even before becoming a god. He'd mop the floor with the Doom 3 marine.

I actually like Doom 3, even as a Doom game. It's hard not to like it when you look at the bigger picture. Doom 3 helped future games learn from it's mistakes, and after playing Doom 1, 2 and 64 for so much, a change of style can't hurt that much can it? We can't hide behind sprites anymore, and we're not this super badass soldier. In 3 we're just a random marine in a dark environment. As if we were thrown in there ourselves and given a gun and orders. Rushing in will get you killed, we want to duck for cover, hide and even prepare both mentally and in game. But i can see why people dislike that, Doom started out as intense, fast and epic. You were a legendary soldier, not some random space marine just trying to survive.

When the game gets too quiet. No music, enemies or any of that. The silence is unnatural, for are we not fighting hell?
