how would you rate your mental health?
Firebert replied to fruity lerlups's topic in Everything Else
I understand, yet I think it's fair to say that your original reply could be interpreted as you believing the topic of mental health is too off-topic for Doomworld. Perhaps instead of using phrasing like "why the hell" and "lmao" you could say something like this: "I'm curious as to why you're asking about this on Doomworld". I can certainly understand why you would have this perspective. I've been a client for roughly 8-9 therapists in my humble lifetime and only one of them really knew how to push in a productive direction. Speaking from personal experience, therapy might not necessarily be the thing that is going to pull you out of a terrible depression. Around year ago I came home from an in-patient treatment center where you're appointed a therapist and live in a very structured environment with 18-something other people. It helped me not necessarily because of my therapist but because I was able to interact with peers who I could relate to, which helped boost my confidence. Since then I've been seeing the same therapist I was seeing before in-patient and I've only ever felt like I was just wasting my time while I failed to meet my own goals every day. I think if you're a mental health train-wreck like me and have a lot of problems, there will probably be seldom few therapists who would know how to help you. While there are things that help me instead of therapy, I imagine this is probably a thing that is dependent on the person. In my case, finding people that will remind me I'm loved and appreciated helps me a lot. -

Read again. "Everything Else" means everything not related to Doom. No reason to be so dismissive -

Check which sub forum you are in. -
Cool trailer. I'll probably play it just because it has Doom on the box to be honest.

I have to imagine Doom has only become associated with metal due to the totally rad nudoom Mick Gordon soundtrack and the, as well as the (relative to the original) ultra violence of the new games being generally associated with metal.

GERARD.WAD - My First Doomworld Release!!!!
Firebert replied to Bomberboi98's topic in WAD Releases & Development
It's generally considered good forum edicate to avoid "discord posting" by condensing more ideas into less posts. Your first two replies could have been made into one and the same goes with your last two replies. -

Best method imo is to just make it yourself. There are a couple of huds for DSDA I've seen but they never really fit my needs exactly. Easiest method is to extract the DSDAHUD lump from the resources wad into your autoload folder, then modify it to how you'd like. Here's the documentation for the DSDAHUD lump.

PortaDOOM - Cacowards bundles with included pre-configured launcher!
Firebert replied to Kroc's topic in Doom General
I believe they're referring to the "Requires" text field. Boom and MBF are compatibility levels, PrBoom+ supports both of these. you could fix this by replacing "Requires: boom" with something like "Requires: PrBoom+" or "Requires: MBF" -
What operating system are you using? What documentation are you following?

You're right. The comment was arguably needless, I didn't think about how the comment would naturally be interpreted as an insult to your taste. Using the word "upscales" leads me to believe you aren't aware that the art in JDUI (the original project that the titlepic and others come from) was made from scratch and not necessarily upscaled proceduraly or by a fancy AI program. In order to make a wide version of these graphics, you would need to convincingly copy the art style of the originals, which is a skill set that is pretty far removed from the pixel art type of work that these types of graphics usually entail. I would personally recommend putting this type of bounty up elsewhere, maybe on some art-centric discussion board. Or perhaps you could track down the original artist and request them to do it instead?

I think I am generally pretty upset with my own work and at the moment don't really recommend any of it outside of the widescreen patches (which quite a few weren't even made by me mind you). Doing thorough testing to clean up sloppy errors I have made would take a lot of work, especially for a project I've lost interest in.

Would make more sense to upscale someone else's widescreen assets like Scuba Steve's. Not sure what technique was used or if it was recreated though. I would also recommend Doom Neural Upscale 2x as being the "best upscale pack" as it isn't a messy conglomerate of other peoples mods and remains stylistically cohesive.

How to cut the number of enemies percentagewise evenly as possible?
Firebert replied to doomlayman's topic in Doom General
skill levels 2-4 have no effect on gameplay other than thing placement. Lowering difficulty to hntr would offer an experience that was at least intended by the author(s), rather than randomly removing a certain amount of monsters each map. If that proves too difficult as well, I believe this ZDoom mod allows you to do exactly what youve asked for. -
Options > Display > Hardware Renderer > Enhanced Night Vision Mode you can use the option search feature or Google for questions like that
