Update: Our first compilation is complete with an almost-complete 3-episode mapset. Our original submission window spilled over into a third episode, so myself, my cubs, Egregor, LGmaire, and Peccatum Mihzamiz spent the last week filling the majority of the 3rd episode. The compilation is done mostly-chronologically, with a few exceptions, and there are two collaborations I need to finish. They will be done shortly. We are currently playtesting the remaining maps, and while I have done the initial testing, Egregor will be playing through them as well. We will be rearranging the map order (most likely). We will look at taking through August for mapper updates, and if all goes as planned, we will see RC1 before September. For mappers not currently in the discord, I have linked the updated texture pack in the OP. Use this for any further map updates. We are working closely with the Crispy Heretic team, and as such, our pack has changed with the intent that new support for certain features is incoming. If you have any questions about any of the technical aspects or anything as we move into playtesting and updates, let us know.

HAHAHA. So, here's @Clippy playing my first map. By "first", it was the first map I made that had a beginning and an end and could be completed. January of '20. Just learning the basics after reading tutorials and watching chubbz videos and having several other "practice maps". I released it on the PUSS discord shortly before this video was posted...hence how Clippy got ahold of it. Nothing special. We all start somewhere. My most recent map is not released yet, and is for Quoth the Raven, but will be released shortly. I have quite a resume of maps, and many more on the way. If anyone has sneezed in the general direction of a community project since December of '20, you've probably seen a map of mine. I wouldn't say looking at my resume in a linear fashion shows a clear progression, but what I can do now (and what I can do in a short amount of time) is quite different. Skulltiverse, Mapping at Warpspeed, Solar Struggle, and PRCP2 all have/ are featured with the DWMegawad Club, and while I worked on them all around the same time, they are different. I'll get gud one of these days. =)

Alright! That's it! I'm putting together a little room with the birthday wishes, and I'll be adding and playing the last map (a sub by WeirdSandwich). T H A N K Y O U S O M U C H everyone for participating in this little mapjam! I CANNOT WAIT to see his reaction when he sees what we've made for him. I know it's not just a random ask, since he does contribute maps to our projects, but I love that this community was willing to make a custom Doom mapset for a kid's 12th birthday, and its something he'll have access to forever! From the bottom of my dead, furry heart, thank you! @Lina @LGmaire @Doomy__Doom @muumi @Weird Sandwich Y'all are amazing! He'll be the first to play it finished TODAY, and I'll have it out in RC1 for the rest of you this next week. (Admittedly, I'll need to cull all of the excess OTEX stuff we didn't use). This next week is a big week and likely to be full of releases on my end, so keep on the lookout for it! -

Loved it! Slaughter, but not too overwhelming. I thought the exit sequence was clever! Thanks for making a map! Ah, Muumi! You're the best! This is fantastic, and while not ball-crushingly hard as some of your other work, it hits the spot! Thanks for joining us! Ah, yes. I wish this hadn't have been a last minute thing. Thanks for the wishes! And yeah, I'm excited to present this to him tomorrow. Here's some screenshots of the Intro Map, my map, and the two maps I did with each of his sisters! We're up to 8 maps with about 12 hours-ish left until I sleep. When I wake up, I'm finishing the wad. -

RC1 Download: 12CANDLES (Google Drive) Thanks to everyone who made Doomcat's birthday special. He LOVED the wad and was nearly brought to tears at the end (in a good way, not because of hard maps). Y'all are fantastic, and I thank everyone who was part of it. Those who left me messages for him or wished him a happy birthday, I added it in the "Credits" map. He loved hearing from you! All others being BOOM format for cl-9 play, I created a separate version for that with a placeholder for MAP09. It also has downscaled TITLEPIC/ INTERPIC, etc. The BOOM version also does use UMAPINFO, but really only to bypass the first textscreen and to end the wad after MAP10. If you want to play without UMAPINFO, just remove it, I guess. SO AGAIN: The zip contains two versions. 12CANDLES is UDMF compatible & 12CANDLES.BOOM is BOOM-compatible. So, this is RC1! If anyone plays this and notices any bugs or mistakes, please let me know. I'm going to try to get this to archive before the end of the month. I'll have the txt file added shortly. I followed up with him on Discord and let him know of this. Seemed fine with it. Thanks for trying to move this forward. I never did get that update in, but no bigs. It was minor stuff for what equates to a relatively quick speedmap, on my part. Cheers! -
I haven't peaked yet, but there are some high points, and there are some plateaus. I feel like when I have breakthroughs, they aren't lost on me...I definitely notice them. It's a feeling I have a hard time explaining...but it usually results in a giddy joy. Even during burnout I'm still mapping, for better or worse. I definitely don't feel like I'm consistent in quality...but I can't win 'em all. I'll let all the young kids and the community voices decide when my peak was when either I quit mapping, or I die...if they want to spend the time to care enough about my catalogue in that context. I've loved getting to see a good amount of your mapping journey. Keep it up! (HMU anytime you need someone to play your work!)

Correct. Cheese-only areas should not be damaging. That isn’t an oversight, and that’s why I did it that way in the first map. -

Just sent a quick hotfix as I somehow messed up all instances of a texture in the wad...fortunately, this texture was only used twice, and both times in my MAP01 and 02, so I updated that. Thanks! There are certainly a few challenging ones in here, but I think with the hard monster limit I put on it, it doesn't get too bad. -
PUSS 25: LUNACY (Release 1) (idgames) by Pineapple Under the Sea Studios, Led by Death Bear CL-9, UMAPINFO, Tested in PRBOOM+ 2.6 and DSDA-DOOM 0.26.1! 44 maps of Cheesy Lunarbase Goodness! 3-Hour Speedmaps created in February 2023! Lunacy is a wild journey to the moon and back! Pineapple Under the Sea Speedmapping Series welcomes back our hero from Mapping at Warpspeed, Zorglo Blaskowicz IX, on another Skillsaw-inspired quest to defeat the enemy aliens encroaching on the cheese production facilities of Luna, and to ingest as much dairy as possible. In a challenge to create cheese-filled, Lunar-themed Techbases in 3 hours or less, 27 of us collectively constructed 42** maps in the time limit! We had a lot of fun with this, and we hope you enjoy playing! The last cheese in the universe calls to you! Will you answer? These maps were created in Boom Format for cl-9 play; and were tested in PRBOOM+, DSDA-DOOM, and GZDOOM. Due to the volume of submissions (and a personal need to add flavor text for "story"), we have included a MAPINFO/ UMAPINFO. Maps contain difficulty settings and co-op starts. Thank you to all our in-dev and Beta playtesters! As always, thank you to all the event staff who contributed their time and efforts to making this a great experience, and an extra thank you to everyone who helped me through the development process! Apologies for the delay, but here we are. We've made it to the moon. Please let me know if you find any bugs that we didn't catch! I had been wanting to have a moon-themed event for a while, and don't think I could ask for more. I had a blast leading this project...and look forward to the sequel planned for February 2024.
