Well, it's been a while since I've been an active member of the community, and even longer since I've been a contributing one. But I feel that the time has come to return to my roots a little, what with this year being the 20-year anniversary of Doom and all.
In 2013, I'm going to attempt to finish the maps I have sitting unfinished on my hard drive. This means that hopefully, both Tremor 2 and Erebus Revisited will see the light of day at some point over the next twelve months. I'm taking a little time to practice and hone my mapping skills, and get back into the swing of things.
And hopefully me posting this will give me the kick up the arse I need to actually finish stuff instead of putting it off. :P- Show previous comments 12 more

It's nearly 10 years later now... But some of us are still waiting. Maybe the 30th anniversary will be a good time for this? :P

So I've been absent from here/IRC for the past few days. My graphics card has decide to pack its bags and leave. I suspect it's probably overheated after a nine-hour Warcraft III marathon, since it's always disliked 3D stuff.
It started when the screen would suddenly be covered in a sort of red checkerboard pattern. I'd have to reboot manually. Then the display would just cut out. Now, I get red lines on the screen when I start up, and Windows won't display anything at all. I'm running it in safe mode right now and I have horrible red lines all over my screen. It really isn't my year. -
...or something. I doubt many people will care, but I'm off back to University in a couple of hours. I won't have internet in my new place of residence for a good few weeks so I won't be around on IRC, and probably won't post on DW much. Just want everyone to know I'm not dead, and I'll be back to take the piss out of you all in a few weeks.
Later.
Oh, one more thing:

It's my birthday today. I am now 20 years of age. I went out last night only to realise how few decent friends I have. I was going to post some entertaining drunken pictures here but alas, the night out was so dire that it didn't merit any.
Anyway, omg birfday.- Show previous comments 7 more

Here is my 2000th post. That makes it 400 posts a year. That's 1.096 posts a day, and 0.0457 posts an hour.

Well, dunno how many people here are Chimaira fans, but they're my favourite band and they've just released some new material for the first time in 2 years or so. The song's entitled "Nothing Remains" and it's the mixed, unmastered version of one of their songs on their upcoming album, Chimaira. Download it (legally) here.
I've been listening to it and it's awesome stuff. I'm getting a lot of death metal vibes from this one, which is pretty cool. We also have some pretty cool solos, and the Mark Hunter's typical screaming is in there too. All in all it's great, if this is what the rest of the new album is going to sound like then I'm a very happy bunny. -
Super Fluffy Bunny Killer 5 for the GameBoy Advance
Download and play it in your favourite emulator. It's not perfect, far from it. It has no backgrounds, the coding is terribly slow (not really my fault since we were told to use a horrendously slow drawing method) and it's not challenging. But I am awesome.
Oh and you need to press start at the invisible title screen. Left and right directional buttons to move, and A to fire.
Enjoy!- Show previous comments 6 more

Heh, pretty neat. What's programming for the GBA like?
Well, I did it in C. We were supplied with some headers which had information on the GBA's registers and video buffers etc. so it was fairly straightforward.

Free.

Best site for GBA development. -
I've been meaning to do some GBA development. My ex-housemate is the engine coder for the GBA team my work contracts.. I'm not quite sure he enjoys it - he'd rather be doing higher level stuff methinks. He also gets to play with the DS (bastard).

EDIT: heh, cool. Good ol' space invader clones.

Mike was born into a life of suckness. As a baby he was cast out from the Watson clan due to being the only baby with a moustache. He was taken in by a cruel dominatrix who made him sweep chimneys in exchange for cheese.
As Mike grew older, he realised he was destined to suck. As a child, he became addicted to drugs and lost a lung in an unfortunate masturbation-related accident.
Mike's teenage years were filled with strife and pain. He discovered he was useless at everything and was hounded by cries of "Cyb sucks" at school at the Antarctican School of Sucking. It became clear to Mike that something had to be done.
As a young man, Mike blossomed. No longer content with sucking in normal, everyday ways, he strived to suck in even more outrageous and fancy fashions. He soon became the world's biggest sucker, and actually won a medal for sucking so much. Unfortunately for Mike, the medal was handed to a 5-year-old disabled girl when people realised just how much Mike sucked.
At the age of 24, Mike undertook a drastic sex change operation in a vain attempt to suck more. Michelle (as he was now known) began to work as a prostitute for elite members of a secret cult known as Doomworld. Michelle was kicked out of Doomworld for sucking so much.
Soon Michelle grew old, and decided to have a reverse operation. However, nothing could hide the ugly visage that is Mike Watson. Mike spent his last days teaching children around the world how to suck like he had in his less prosporous years. Mike died at the age of 32, after he was mistaken for Macvilewhore.
The moral of this dreary tale is: Cyb sucks. -
It's me. Sitting in class supposed to be doing some Flash stuff but I decided to drop by and see how things are. Uni is treating me well, not that any of you care anyway, and my classes are pretty cool. One of my modules is Math which isn't too fun but hey it's going to help when I do some programming. Got a programming in C class too but we haven't really done much. The Computer Games Technology class is fun, I'm actually learning flash right now (I used to hate flash with a passion) and it's fun. Other than that my time here's mainly involved lots of drinking and staying up late (and working on my new Doom map - check out the WIP, but at the time I'm writing this, it hasn't been accepted yet). Anyway folks, time for me to sign off - hope you're all doing well.

What are you learning in math? Right now I've got an assignment that, among other things, makes us write a program in Java that computes the square root of a number. (No, Math.Pow() is not an accepted solution.)
So far we're just going over some stuff like calculus, floor/ceiling functions and some basic dynamics. Nothing too heavy.
On the drinking front, I got extremely wasted last night, can't remember half the night, bought everyone pizza, proclaimed my love for someone, threw up beside my bin and generally feel shit this morning. Hooray for vodka.

Well, I head off for Uni tomorrow afternoon. Won't be able to get on DW as much, nor IRC at all, but I'd just like to say my time spent in the Doom Community has been fun, and there's quite a few of you whom I consider friends. Thanks to everyone who's made my time here enjoyable. I'll still be around, but not nearly as much.
Thanks again :)

Not really. I'm going to University in 3 weeks and I won't have internet access in my room so I probably won't be able to post here much or go on IRC at all. I'll probably pop by now and then but I'm afraid I'm going to probably have to leave the Doom community for now. Still, you have 3 weeks of me to go so I'll see how many people I can insult in that time.
