When I speedrun, I try to make sure all my runs are 5 seconds or less. With Doom, I don't really consider anything longer than that a true speedrun. D2all's are fun but they're more for casual play IMO.

Personally I prefer beating or rather optimizing runs to table filling, however the priority for me is whether the run and route looks fun and interesting. This usually means having some kind of minor trick in the run regardless of whether there is any index tied to it. So if there is a map that doesn't have a run but has an AVJ, you bet I'm looking at it and filling it. That said to answer part 2 of your question, if I am doing a table fill I am going to make it fairly challenging to beat, unless it is a Nomo because my movement is D tier lol.

Yeah but look at the attempt count for that demo... the fact it's reality was a cherry on top :-) As far as an avj, unfortunately there is no platform from which you can achieve that height. Otherwise I would have been looking for a forward avj death exit :-)

Since joining the doom speedrunning community last year I have been amazed at both the growth as well as the increase in quality of content being produced. This past year saw us post over 12,000 demos which is more than were completed in roughly the first 8 years of doom through 2001. With so many demos it is incredibly difficult to pick my favorites from this year, so apologies for any omissions. Aconfusedhuman on continuing to destroy E1M1. All of the mappers without whom I and others would not be able to do what we love. And of course Meowgi and Billa for joining me on many many races throughout the year. As for my personal favorite runs I’ve completed this year that I’m proud of, I will highlight three: E2M8 Nightmare in 28.66 demo video - I still cannot believe that I managed to get a 28 as the first ever sub-30 on this map. Plutonia Map 16 Pacifist in 19.37 demo video - This map was a pleasure to run and was one I could load up again. AVJ Map 1 Pacifist in 17.60 demo video - Did this because it's likely the only Looper demo I'll ever beat. Again, apologies to many many great runs that I have missed. I look forward to 2023 and hopefully even more growth in the doom speedrunning community. Hoping to see 15,000 demos next year!
