  1. My practice is the classic tried and true: "F around and find out" Are there 2 revenants? maybe reduce them to 1 on HMP and lower, If it feels too easy then add them back for HMP. Reduce low tier enemies like imps and shotgunners and just keep the main threats around. I really don't have a rule book to follow for difficulty settings as it is going to be different based on the area surrounding the battle and the type of map that I'm making.
  2. MAP03 - “Onslaught” by Chris Harbin Played With Nugget Doom, Smooth Doom 21, UV, Pistol start A much more fun map when compared to the previous map. Although, I think that a night sky would've fit better with the amount of darkness in this map. This maps despite still being pretty short actually feels much more substantial and my death due to a chaingunner actually felt a bit more fairer than the previous map's bs. Also, the last part with the surprise enemy fight was really fun. Overall, seems like this set is improving as we are progressing. But, I still think that this map is just ok. My main issue is mostly that it isn't that visually appealing (still visually better than MAP02) . GRADE: C+ MAP04 - “The Arrival” by Chris Harbin Played With Nugget Doom, Smooth Doom 21, UV, Pistol start Hell yeah! This map is much more my style. Quick but still substantial and most importantly fun. This map now takes place inside a base and here we see a much better usage of the new custom textures than any of the previous maps. This map has some fun fights and by the end of it I was really happy without any frustration. Visually, as I have stated, it is the best looking map and it also has the best fights when compared to the others. Again, this level is pretty short but thankfully, just like the previous map, it felt much more substantial. But, I would have loved more of this. Also, I'm more and more believing my theory that MAP02 was just a throwaway map made at the last minute because these maps shows that there are good maps in this set. GRADE: B+ (sorry for a bit of choppiness) CURRENT RANKINGS
  3. MAP02 - “Terror Core” by Chris Harbin Played With Nugget Doom, Smooth Doom 21, UV, Pistol start This map provides you a shotgun from the start which I think is a plus compared to the previous map where you had to play the majority of it with the pistol. The design of this map is very much like a shorter and much more easier Tricks and Traps where you are given 4 teleporters which all brings you to different rooms with 3 of them having different colored keys and one having the exit. Looks wise, I think this level is much more bland when compared to the visuals of the previous level. All the areas were also just one or two rooms big without any particularly standout design in them. The length of these maps combined with the difficulty are not doing it for me personally since I want more of an okay-ish length adventure in easier maps. Speaking of easy, most of the map is just filled with 2 enemy types, imps and shotgunners, which are easy enough to deal with. But for some reason, the red key room very much feels out of place when compared to the difficulty of the rest of the level. At the start it is absolutely filled with imps and 2 shotgunners, normal enough to deal with, but (and this doesn't happen with any other key) picking up the red key spawns 2 chaingunners behind you which are easy to deal with if you know about them but can be lethal if you, like me, weren't paying much attention in the first run. To be honest, this map feels a bit more cheap compared to the previous map. Not cheap as in the fights were badly designed, most of them were ok (maybe apart from the surprise chaingunners) but it just feels like much less care was put into this map and the mapper just spun together a quick map to just fill up an empty slot with it. Overall, it's mediocre and definitely worse than what the first map made me expect. Also, the run time for each map can be longer. GRADE: D+ (Note: I did die to the surprise chaingunners but I was also playing like pretty horribly on the first run)

  5. MAP01 - “The End” by Chris Harbin Played With Nugget Doom, Smooth Doom 21, UV A nice and short start to this wad. A bit too short for me to be honest, I was expecting a bit more. One thing I noticed was that the wad looks quite good for a 90s wad. Its also implementing some really nice use of custom textures with the standalone doom textures for its time. I do have mixed feelings about the HUD face being changed, not really a fan of how out of place it feels when compared to the rest of the game and, in my opinion, leaving it as regular doomguy would have been better. In terms of gameplay, the map is easy which is unsurprising for the first map. And here is to hoping that this wad doesn't get so hard that I'll lose motivation to play it and give up on it midway through the month :P. Overall, the map is not bad but also not extraordinarily great. It's just a good starting map. GRADE: C
  6. True Love Waits - Live in Oslo by Radiohead
  7. A cyberdemon clearing everything is cool and all but what is cooler is when just a little guy destroys him. Its like David and Goliath in doom.
  8. This wad is reminding me of this song which is not a good thing.
  9. In the recent years, more and more wikis have made the switch from fandom to other hosting sites for extremely valid reasons (quite recently happened with minecraft but there are several more examples). If you ever, and I mean ever tried to use fandom on mobile you will realize how much of a shitty website it truly is. Like literally half the page is filled with ads and unnecessary stuff to what your reading and it can get extremely slow. Ads are also a big problem on the desktop version but not as ridiculously as on mobile. Fandom is also not really as customizable as other wiki farms or your own wiki from scratch which is why doomwiki looks much better than the fandom one. But sadly despite most people's best efforts when you search "doom wiki" on google the fandom link still comes first and the mods at fandom refuse to remove the wiki (obviously because it brings them more money from ignorant people). I personally use the Indie Wiki Buddy extension to immediately redirect a fandom link to the independent wiki if there is one available but the truth is that due to fandom's relative popularity and refusal to delete wikis, it is quite hard for wiki owners to us another wiki farm. Doomwiki has been pretty successful and I hope that more wikis start to switch away from wikia after getting inspired by recent more popular wiki switches.
