Still more than RAGE. And there are plenty of popular games with a small mod scene, such as Deus Ex or Tomb Raider.

I do think they could at least fix the missing visual effects, Ammo and Flashlight settings and fix back up ROE at least. Though it sadly seems unlikely. I doubt D3's Audience is as small as you make it out to be, unless you mean in comparison to Eternal just.

Doom 2016 did that and it made the Zombies a complete joke aside from the Shield ones so I think it'd generally just make them far less deadly. Z-Sec in Doom 3 have relatively more advanced AI and hit-scanners so I actually get worried when I hear Z-Sec Radio chatter in that game, them being projectiles would reduce that.

I've not played BFG yet (have it on Switch for lost missions.) but in Doom 3 I already had too much ammo, so more ammo with less monsters very much wouldn't improve it.
-
IMO they should have added the option to play with the OG flashlight/ammo values.

Do you ignore the regular Shotgun after picking up a Super Shotgun?
Samz707 replied to Muusi's topic in Doom General
It was on an Xbox magazine disc I think. I think it was literally only the very first map, though it did have the option for Local Multiplayer so me and a friend played a good bit of that. So yeah the XBLA version of Doom 2 but literally only the first map. -

As someone who did start playing Doom 2 recently. (Well I did play a god bit of the XBLA Demo but that didn't even have the SSG) I kinda do? It really depends on the map, I generally stick to the regular shotgun for anything that's not going to survive a single shell usually anyway but I feel like it's mostly unneeded and you could probably get away with using the SSG more since I tend to (on Hurt Me Plenty Anyway) end levels with a decent amount of shells. Not quite as bad as Quake 2 at least, where the regular shotgun is practically completely inferior to the Super Shotgun and shotgun ammo is insanely abundant, at least as early on as I am. Yeah the Pistol is literally just a slightly more accurate slow-firing chain-gun stats-wise I think. I think in Doom 3 it manages to come into it's own, with decent accuracy (In a game where the Chaingun is inaccurate and the Machine Gun has a noteworthy drop in damage.) and damage. Then Doom 2016 made it trash again, I'm pretty sure the Quake 2 Blaster does more damage relatively and that has the excuse of existing in-case you need to hit switches but are completely out of ammo and the general changes to combat means it basically feels even worse than the Basic Pistol from Doom 1/2. It really only feels there as a crutch for if the melee combat decides to not work. (Since it's heavily automated, I once had Doom Slayer get stuck on a slight upwards incline, fail to hit the zombie on that incline, who managed to hit him and then Slayer got launched backwards.) Quake 1 kinda did it well, since they buffed the regular shotgun's range I think in comparison to Doom 1/2, so it fit double duty as a pick-off dudes from a distance weapon (For Quake 1's map sizes anyway) and a close-combat weapon to replace the Pistol. -
I guess I can kinda see, some of the newer titles end up being very unironically "America fuck yeah!", which while I don't take too great offense to, I can see as off-putting. It's kinda weird since while I don't read the novels (and they don't sound like they go this way admittingly), early Clancy games involved either A: America is the good guy but the fact it's backed up by other countries who are also good is very acknowledged (Such as Ghost Recon 1, where America is aided by British, Russian and German forces to name a few or Rainbow six, where while the organization is technically American, it's very multi-national and most of the members aren't American. (Not to mention a good few villains in the Clancy games are American, with a few games having the main villains be exclusively American, such as Rainbow Six 1 or Splinter Cell Conviction.) or B: Very much willing to take pot shots at America. (Which is actually part of the reason Splinter Cell Backlist got criticized a bit, considering how Classic Splinter Cell took potshot at America occasionally and even had Americans be the bad guy for 3 games in a row, yet then Blacklist has Guantanamo Bay as a mission, something which would very much have been critiqued a bit in past installments even if just a throw-away line, such as a rogue CIA Agent who you need to find out if he's defected to terrorists or just a deep cover agent in the second game getting a "Those things aren't mutually exclusive" remark from the Player Character, with no comment on it.) They definitely feel like they lost their self-awareness at least. (Since the games were generally made in French Studios, even Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter was kinda cheesy on purpose at least, maybe it's part of Ubisoft's "Trying not to offend anyone by being political" thing nowadays.) Yeah, while I kinda of enjoy Siege as an MP title, I do very much miss the old single player games. (And as someone who didn't get to experience all of them, would very much like Ubisoft to hurry the hell up and release them all digitally already.)

Kinda curious, what exactly do you have against Tom Clancy games? It seems like a weirdly specific dislike considering how most of the games play nothing alike and are in different genres.

What did you think about Doom 2016/ Doom Eternal?
Samz707 replied to rescue86k's topic in Doom Eternal
Resident Evil 2 Remake literally has Mr-X moving around unloaded areas, people checked by hacking the camera, his entire AI/movement through rooms isn't altered at all even if he's in the other half of the police station, his AI isn't even altered slightly. -
Quake 1, only actually played Episode 1 (since someone made the shareware version a flash game.) so I finally picked up the full game on steam and am playing through it.

Doom 2016 theme is completely awful and a war crime against ears. Doom 3's theme is actually really good. -

Only played 2016 (Finished the first hell level so far and even then it took me years.) , but frankly it feels like a bad Serious Sam Clone that's the worst parts of Serious Sam without any of the actual fun sections of Serious Sam, just with a doom skin slapped on it. It has worse weapons, enemies and pretty much everything compared to the old games and I frankly hate it. I'm someone who very much loves the old maze-like level design but 2016 is even more linear and straight forward than Doom 3 so it's just really boring all around. It doesn't at all feel like Classic Doom and I actively get pissed off with how tediously boring the game is with the only challenge coming from unfair enemies spawning next to you in Arenas. -

It's been a while, but isn't the Baron of Hell mostly rare in levels where your strongest weapon is the shotgun? and around the time they get somewhat common is when you have the Plasma gun and Rocket Launcher.
