My new Hard Rock / Heavy Metal single, "Geisterwolken," will be released in two weeks time (Friday, May 6th) on Bandcamp, Amazon, Spotify, and all major streaming platforms. Until then, here's a sneak preview of the cover art for the song, as done by webcomic artist extraordinaire Kittyhawk ( https://montrose.is ):

Unfortunately, they do just play the same GM versions for both. GS required Sysex messages, and the Apogee Sound System did not support Sysex, so no GS.

If you're talking about the ones on YouTube, those are done by a private person and don't involve GS to my knowledge.
I wrote in General MIDI mode. Couldn't use any SC-XX-specific tricks. Although, when I was listening, I had the SC-88 in its native mode.
IndyCar.com has posted a recap of day 2 of the Indy Open Test:

Josef Newgarden topped the chart with a fast lap of 229.519 mph.
I don't have my original SC-88 - that remained at 3D Realms when we parted ways. I've since purchased an SC-88Pro from Japan and use it for writing my commissions. I have no idea how long they last, but I take very good care of my SC-88Pro, just in case.
BTW, my SC-88Pro has recently been joined by a Yamaha MU100, so now I have both full GS and XG capabilities for doing commissions. In case anyone is interested. :)
Not all the way through. Like I said, I have an SC-88/SC-88Pro bias, since that's what I have had access to. I've had no need to listen to the SC-55 versions of my songs. Still don't, to be honest.
That's correct. I would compose my songs for ROTT on whatever soundcard du jour I had, and I would then bring them in for approval by Tom Hall, the project director. He would listen to them on his Roland SCC-1, a General MIDI card. So, in a sense, you could say ROTT was sort-of written for the SCC-1, indirectly speaking. ;)
Toe surgery went well, but recovery was hell. My right arm acted up again. They gave me a milligram of Dilaudid for the pain. That helped, some.
Enough hospitals for a little while, please.
I've never owned nor had access to an SC-55 in my life. I've had a RAP-10, an SCC-1, and an SC-88. Some of ROTT was done using the RAP-10. Most of Duke Nukem 3D was done on the SC-88.
Time again for the hospital. Today I go in for the left big toe surgery I've mentioned previously. Should be relatively easy, but nothing has been easy lately. I can use all the luck I can get. Please wish me some.
