Oops - you're right. Mea culpa. Barber is May 1st. I was really just wanting to open it up to F1. I was merely being a bit silly with my words. ;) To be honest, I'd kind of like to keep NASCAR/IMSA/WEC/etc to a separate thread. IndyCar would get lost if everything were tossed into one big motorsports salad. In fact, I kind of fear IndyCar might get lost if I open up the thread to just F1. Let me do some thinking. I'd forgotten about Long Beach (for shame!), so maybe there isn't going to be as big a lull as I feared.

Heh. I've grown used to it. I think I've been officially government-spec disabled for around seven years now, maybe longer. I can't remember - I let my wife handle that stuff for me. Anyway, it's just one thing after another, so you either roll with the punches and keep fighting or you go down for the count. I choose to keep punching.

I'm feeling better today. Friday wasn't so good for some reason, but I've rebounded today. Check my "Essential Info" thread and you'll see some bad news I got from my podiatrist. I'm going to have to have some toe surgery after my neck brace comes off. Details in the other thread. The next race isn't until April 10th at Barber in Alabama, then there's not a race until May 14th when the GMR Grand Prix runs on the road course at Indianapolis. For this reason, I'm considering throwing the thread open to discussion of other open wheel racing, namely Formula One, while IndyCar is on downtime. What do you think?

Just got back from the podiatrist. Bad news for the big toe on my left foot. Remember the hammertoe fix that was done last year that went bad and stuck me in the hospital for almost 6 weeks? Well, the screw that was implanted to hold the bones together is trying to work its way back out through the tip of my toe. It's going to have to be removed. This thing is almost 2 inches long and 4mm wide. I'm going to go in for outpatient surgery to have it removed. I'm obviously not going to have it removed while I'm still wearing a neck brace, so we're going to get this thing off of me first. After that, then we schedule the surgery. Crap. Just what I needed.

I can vouch a lot for this method of learning. Granted, I already had a music theory background before I started diving into other people's MIDI/MOD/Whatever files, but the technique is still sound.

Don't look at it that way. While there are mathematical skill aspects of music, it is and will always be an art form. If you find you have a knack for music, the skill part of it might come with what seems like relative ease. I'm not promising that it will, I'm just relating what might happen if you're lucky. The medical-grade glue on my scar that the doctor used to seal my surgical incision is finally falling off, BTW. I pulled some big strips of it off on Wednesday. I look a little less like Frankenstein's Monster now.

I've always been an A.J. Foyt team supporter, and cheered for him back when he was racing for his fourth Indy500 title in 1977 (when I was in 8th grade). He's got a rookie driver named Kyle Kirkwood who had a great run going until he lost control of the car and put it into the wall midway through the race on Sunday. Kyle's going to have a good year if he can learn from that little event.

I've tried to, but I've been less than successful. They only come here once a year, to TMS (they hit Circuit of the Americas in Austin one year, but I was unable to attend due to medical reasons, of course <bleaugh>), and I've hit almost all of their visits here with my wife and/or my son since they started coming here. This year may have been my last year, however - put simply, my body's getting too old and worn out to handle the trips anymore. That's kind of why I'm taking up this hobby of writing about IndyCar on Doomworld. I want to make up for losing the "in person" aspect of IndyCar by writing about it and introducing new people to it. And I'll fix the spoiler situation, thanks. ;)
