Post Your Opinions About Doom (Whether Controversial or Not)
SynthScoutWave replied to baja blast rd.'s topic in Doom General
Æons of Death was phenomenal and didn't deserve the hate it got. On a related note: Æons of Death is the millenial version of Brutal Doom - gameplay mod tweaking maps and hardening gameplay to the point levels not built around it can sometimes feel like shit. The canon that the Doom Slayer is the "leveled-up" Doomguy is stupid and should have never been declared. -
Finally I can go on with my plan to stream more Doomer Boards Projects: https://www.twitch.tv/synthscoutwave This time it's DBP02 with that icy theme.

The variations are endless so I can have only a few general tips: * use cream cheese instead of butter. Or, if you're into it, mustard! * put anything cooked instead of cold ingredients. Be it your leftover cooked meat, or just a sausage right out of the oven, it's up to you! * if you don't want to fuck over with vegetables, put some readily available salad mix into it. I don't do much else but these help a lot.

Honestly? The whole thing has the feeling of an early 90s total (or even partial?) conversion mod. Which is way not enough to please the general audience in 2021, *BUT* I appreciate the simplicity and the (I assume) funny idea behind it. Good luck with it!

MAYhem 2021...or should I say MAYhem X!
SynthScoutWave replied to TMD's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Same feelings. Haven't touched a map editor for over half a decade... -
Have I beaten a megawad if I didn't pistol-start each map?
SynthScoutWave replied to MajorRawne's topic in Doom General
For me, only continuous runs matter. But if that condition applies, even forced pistol-start can be considered, like in any Scythe. -
Do you know some obscure 1990's PC games?
SynthScoutWave replied to Pixel Fiend's topic in Everything Else
I don't want to die before seeing the ending of Nerves of Steel...it's just ridiculously bad <3 Incredibly enough, it actually has a Doom TC in progress -
Sword fights in Thief were interesting, but largely unpredictable for me. It also was not worth against far superior enemies like the Wraith

I haven't eaten true, 100% authentic, thin-dough Italian pizza until 2020. Still have mixed feelings about it, trash-tier pizza just feels *so much better*, but I love the original, too.

YOUR SHORT REVIEW of a map/mapset you played?
SynthScoutWave replied to terminator's topic in WAD Discussion
Map/mapset title and author: Doomer Boards Projects 01: Monuments of Mars (Community Project led by @40oz ) Theme/features: ...Mars, I guess? A specific set of textures selected to imitated subtly Martian terrain, in science fiction environment. Gameplay is just regular Doom with a fair dose of challange but nothing slaughter-ish. Review: A community effort aiming for the use of a fixed set of textures, with surprisingly diverse results. Starts fairly easy but steps up the curve pretty steadily. Every map has something new to offer, from caves across drilling stations to UAC compounds, all while staying in style. On medium level there's some agony on the final map, but otherwise gunplay and level flow is super pleasing. I haven't played Doom maps for a while but for that, it was a refreshing jump back to square one. Highly recommended on my behalf. What Doomworld thinks about my home made pizza
SynthScoutWave replied to El Juancho's topic in Everything Else
I love how you rolled up the edges so that the topping wouldn't spill away! Also looks delicious though it's a bit hard to judge what did you actually put on it -
I love synthwave, but I needed an extra word to have a proper name Also I love discovering constantly - new things to be precise, but still like a scout
