Very awesome to see JMCE get a sidebar :D The Jumpmaze community is one of the most dedicated niches of a niche of a niche you'll ever find, a lot of us have been here since the original fifteen years ago, and hopefully it'll live for another fifteen. (I would like to mention, though, that JMCE isn't just for preserving maps, it's where most new maps also land first - most of the 54 maps in the mentioned latest update were brand new!) Do you think GZDoom should have texture filtering on by default?
DrinkyBird replied to BeachThunder's topic in Source Ports
It's Graf's pizzahlria, he can put pineapple on his pizzas by default if that's what he likes, even if a large amount of customers order without, and it causes an endless internet argument about something ultimately inconsequential, because it's still the best damn pizza in the country. I'm hungry. -
Am I the only one that uses doom builder 2 for doom mapping?
DrinkyBird replied to Ash4ash's topic in Doom Editing
Level editors are for nerds, I make maps by writing UDMF directly into Notepad while blindfolded and with local anaesthetic injected into my hands. -
Has anyone said Wii U yet? Plenty of quality games, it birthed the greatest franchise humanity has seen and will ever see, the GamePad was suepr comfortable to use and a pretty good gimmick, it had Miiverse which was a thing that existed, and also it's easy as hell to hack. Unfortunately nowadays Miiverse is dead, the eShop is dead, Splatoon and MK8 aren't dead but have been in limbo for almost four months now, and most of its quality titles have been ported to Switch so there's little point in using the Wii U now. But it was great when it was current.

Will there ever be Freedoom Phase 3 & 4?
DrinkyBird replied to TheSlipgateStudios's topic in Freedoom
Phase 3 and 4 would be Freedoom for Doom 3 and Doom (2016), surely. -
New Vegas 2 and Silksong? The only way this could be any more fake is if Half-Life 3 was there too. EDIT: lmao, and Scalebound is there too.

OK, mine feels very inadequate compared to basically all other submissions I've seen, but at least I've got something, and I don't think it's entirely terrible... There are definitely visual improvements I could make before the hard deadline. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1N0be54Y1dWE3HWQ42ktOu5inALHIyrnZ/view?usp=sharing Map Name: another_nukage_plant.dwd Author: DrinkyBird Music and Composers: Bobby Prince - Between Levels (D_BETWEE) Par Time: 3 minutes Map Description: Another short, not too hard map very creatively set in yet another nukage plant. How to Boost Gaming Performance on Your Android Phone
DrinkyBird replied to christineadams990's topic in Doom General
Why Boosting Gaming Performance on Android Phones is a Bad Thing 📵 In recent years, Android gaming has seen a significant surge in popularity. With the rise of mobile gaming, there has also been an increase in discussions about boosting gaming performance on Android devices. While some argue that such enhancements are essential for the best gaming experience, there are several reasons why boosting gaming performance on Android phones can be a bad thing. This essay will outline the negative impacts of these performance enhancements, particularly in response to an out-of-place Doomworld thread by a suspicious user named "christineadams990." 1. Overheating and Hardware Damage 🔥 One of the primary concerns with boosting gaming performance on Android phones is the potential for overheating and hardware damage. High-performance gaming can strain the CPU and GPU, causing them to generate excessive heat. If the device does not have adequate cooling systems, this heat can lead to irreparable damage to the hardware and even risk the safety of the user. 2. Battery Life Drain 🔋 Boosting gaming performance often results in a significant decrease in battery life. As the device works harder to run games at higher settings, it consumes more power, leading to a shorter battery life. This not only limits the gaming experience for users but also contributes to the overall wear and tear of the battery, reducing its lifespan. 3. Encourages Unfair Gameplay 🎮 Performance-boosting techniques can create an unfair advantage for some players over others. In competitive gaming, having a device running at a higher performance level can provide an edge, leading to an imbalanced playing field. This can be particularly problematic in multiplayer games, where fair competition is essential for maintaining a healthy gaming community. 4. Potential for Malware and Security Risks 🛡 Many apps and tools that claim to boost gaming performance come from unverified sources and can introduce malware or other security risks to the user's device. By downloading and installing these potentially harmful apps, users may inadvertently expose their personal information or allow unauthorized access to their device. 5. Encouragement of AI-generated Content 🤖 As seen in the case of the suspicious Doomworld thread by "christineadams990," the popularity of performance-boosting discussions can inadvertently encourage AI-generated content. Such content can be misleading, irrelevant, or simply low-quality, cluttering forums and making it more difficult for users to find genuinely helpful information. In conclusion, while boosting gaming performance on Android phones might seem like a tempting solution for avid gamers, it can introduce various negative consequences. From hardware damage and battery drain to unfair gameplay and security risks, the drawbacks far outweigh the potential benefits. Additionally, it's essential to be cautious about AI-generated content and not encourage its proliferation. 🚫🎮- 13 replies

Steam stops supporting Windows 7 and Windows 8
DrinkyBird replied to Geniraul's topic in Everything Else
openSUSE as a whole is greatly underrated, fantastic distro... though I prefer Leap if only for the fact that zypper is pretty slow and Tumbleweed snapshots are huge and downloading and installing at least a hundred packages every few days gets tiring quick. Tumbleweed updates didn't render it unusable after I neglected it for two weeks unlike Arch though so there's that. -

Current status... Can you tell this is the first full map I've made for actual proper monster-shooty Doom gameplay? The main layout is mostly finished, I think... but I need to finish and think a bit more about monster placement. And it needs a lot of prettifying... -
I enjoyed BotW... until I realised the world was empty, shrines were boring, weapon durability was the most annoying mechanic since Minecraft's phantoms, and Thunderblight Ganon was so buggy I ragequit the game for nine months. I basically extracted all of the enjoyment I could get out of it during the first five hours until reality set in. However it did give us Prince Sidon who is an outright hottie and the music was good so 9/10. I'll probably check out TotK when I can get it cheap second-hand.
