NuDoom related, but DOOM: The Dark Ages had its first trailer released; a prequel to DOOM 2016 and Eternal.

Anyone else worried that Bethesda will ruin the new Doom game?

It's safe to assume that micro-transactions for anything doesn't mean Bethesda or Id Software will be handing out fat checks to specific developers, artists, etc. Commission-based cosmetics are a thing in the videogame industry, but we cannot assume this without any evidence or anything from Id Software themselves. "Money being absorbed by the company" is usually never a bad thing. When videogames become a success for companies, executives usually want to reinvest into the franchise (as what happened with DOOM 2016, DOOM Eternal and now we have Dark Ages) which provides business expansion, which can definitely help generate more employment opportunities within the company whether that's in the artistry department or the development studio, etc. TYPICALLY, when a company becomes even more successful, employees will receive more benefits, improved salaries (I don't think they get wages, as you mentioned), etc. Id Software doesn't have a horrible track record when it comes to how they treat their employees, with the exception of Mick Gordon (he wasn't even an "employee" in the first place, he was a contracted musician). -

Bethesda published DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal, both were fantastic games and received widespread praise. DOOM 2016 has overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam, and DOOM Eternal has very positive reviews. I think it's safe to say DOOM 6 will release just fine and Bethesda as publishers aren't going to drastically mess it up to the point where it affects the quality of the game or release. "Microtransactions, yuck! Red flag, gamers!" Microtransactions are great in my book, as long as they are purely cosmetic. Gives more money to the developers, artists and publishing crew that put everything together. -
That fur cape definitely has to grow on me. So far, I do not like it at all!

Since there is already a thread on DOOM 6 in general, let's keep this discussion strictly about the trailer and what we can learn from it! Highlighted posts:

TODAY IS THE DAY! In the next few hours, we will see if the leaks and rumors are true or false. I personally think they are true, and we will be getting a new trailer for a new DOOM game. It would be nice if turns out all of the leaks were false and we were actually getting a Quake reboot, but I don't think that's going to happen... 😠Tune in here in the next hour if you're interested:

When it comes to rumors, I am normally very skeptical, but in this case, the leak is just so close to the actual date that's being proposed for the reveal. June 8th is just a couple of weeks away, there's absolutely no reason why Tom Henderson would say what he said if he doesn't believe it to be true and risk ruining his reputation in two weeks. Also, as mentioned by OP, the project was initially called "DOOM: Year Zero" which was found out from the leaked Microsoft FTC documents. So it definitely matches the original theme/name. We'll find out by June 8th for sure! Hope to see something awesome!!

Subscribed! I enjoy the simplicity, just a microphone and DOOM. Nice.

This idea sounds like it fits with DOOM Retro's cosmetic direction. Nice little retro option to have the HUD more animated and reactive.

It's a secret map in the Xbox version of The Ultimate DOOM. Pretty lame level if you ask me.
